21 | Who is this woman? | Rev 18:4 | ebrain | 186904
Hi Searcher56. In order to put your question into perspective, it would be wise to read the whole of Chapters 17, and 18, from which the extracts bellow have been taken. Rev 17:4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.[fn2] Rev 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Rev 17:18 "And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth." I have heard it said, that the city refereed to in v 18, is "Rome", the home of the false religion known as the, "Roman Catholic Church", others, however, will I have no doubt have something to say on this subject. ebrain. |

22 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | ebrain | 186389
Regarding your concern about Lot, have a look at the question I came across, and my answer bellow. Question: How did Abraham, Issac and Jacob show respect for women? Answer: Abram showed complete, and total lack of respect for his wife, when at Gen 12:-18. Although the Lord put a stop to this, see v 17, it did not stop Abraham doing the same thing all over again see Gen 20:1-11. His son Isaac did exactly the same to his wife, see Gen 26:1-10. No these men did not show respect for women, but treated them with utter contempt, and were prepared to offer their wives to be used sexually by other men, in order to save their own lives. However, despite what we may thing of Abraham, God's judgment of this man is shown bellow. Jam 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."* And he was called the friend of God. We may indeed have problems with the way in which persons in Scripture behaved, and the Lord's judgment of them, but who are we to question God? Of Lot it is written. Gen 19:22 "Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. Shall the judge of all the earth do right? |

23 | Die unexposed to Jesus no redemption? | Eph 1:5 | ebrain | 186378
Hi Johnycan. Perhaps the following verses will be of help. Rom 2:6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":* Rom 2:7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; Rom 2:11 For there is no partiality with God. Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law Rom 2:13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; Rom 2:14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, Rom 2:15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,* not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Eze 18:32 "For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!" Eze 33:11 "Say to them: 'As I live,' says the Lord GOD, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?' Eze 18:21 "But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. Eze 18:22 "None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. Eze 18:23 "Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?" says the Lord GOD, "and not that he should turn from his ways and live? May the Lord bless you, and keep you safe. Edwin. 24 | Why Jesus calls his mother as "woman"? | John 2:4 | ebrain | 186241
I believe the verse to which you are referring is. Jhn 2:4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” Jesus would be speaking in Aramic, and at that time some 2000 years ago, it would not be considered insulting, for Him to address His mother in that way,as it would be today. |

25 | do we join or are we added to the church | Eph 1:4 | ebrain | 186237
Let me answer your question this way.. When we join the church, we discover that God has already added us to it. Perhaps what follows will be of help, I was asked a question, and gave an answer, both are given bellow. Subject: In Christ. It seems to me that there was a time when we were dead in sins, before we were in Christ, then, when we became "in Christ", this involved re-birth, and we became a new creation. Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, Eph 1:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love This is my understanding. What is your understanding of these verses? Thank you for your kind words, it's great to have fellowship with you once more. but please dear brother don't put the cart before the horse. We were not dead in sins, before we were in Christ, but we were in Christ before we were dead in sins. You and I and all other people are inside the "Space Time Continuum", a creation of the Lord superimposed upon Eternity. Eternity is timelessness, and it is in Eternity that God the Father placed us in His Son before the beginning of time, however, we do not come into existence until after time was created (but He knew that we would exist). We were dead in sins at the point of our conception onwards, (see Psalm 51:5), and remained so until we were saved, after which we discover that we have been "in Christ" from before the foundation of the earth Now do you get it. Bless you brother. Edwin. |

26 | What does Son of man really means | Matt 16:17 | ebrain | 186232
Son of man, means a real human being, in the case of Ezekiel it indicates that he was just a perfectly ordinary person as we all are, in the case of Jesus it is drawing our attention to His real humanity, as opposed to His true Deity. Son of, in Hebrew can refer to the type or sort of person an individual is for example Mar 3:17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder); Also. Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. In Aramic the word for son is "Bar", so what Jesus is saying is "Simon son of Jonah".. an explanation as to why He said this is given bellow. Subject: Peter's Confession. Peter's confession. Everything in the Bible is there for a reason, although we may not at first understand why.. We are given the geographic location of this incident as "Caesarea Philippi", which as I am sure you know is situated at the base of Mount Hermon. This is the highest mountain in Israel, and is right up in the north. It is snow capped for most of the year. This snow melts, and forms streams, these come out from the base of a vertical sandstone cliff face at C P . You can find Photographs of C P on the Internet, these will show not only a cliff face about 100 feet tall, and about 250/300 feet wide, but also a flat bed stream with small stones/pebbles in the water. The vertical soft rock was ideal for carving alcoves in, and into these alcoves were placed images of the many false gods worshiped at that time, including "pan". It is therefore against this background of dead false god worship, that our Lord reveals the one and only true, and living God. It was also a suitable place to refer to "Petros" (the Greek word for Peter, which can also mean pebble, or small stone) in the stream bed, and of course "Petra" (the Greek word for Rock*), but how is He to do this as He speaks in Aramaic*? (Remember Matthew would be there not only to hear what Jesus said, but also to see what He did). Could it be I wonder that when Jesus spoke that He pointed to both the stream, and the cliff face?.. And now to "Bar-Jonah" . Firstly it suggests that Jesus was speaking in Aramaic, but more important why did He not just say Peter. or even Simon Peter?, why bar-Jonah?. Is He referring to the name of Peter's father, I think not, I believe that He is using the well known custom of describing a man's nature as being just like the person refereed to, ie in this case the prophet Jonah. Now in what way is Peter like Jonah. God spoke to Jonah, telling him where to go, but Jonah went in the opposite direction. God spoke to Peter.. Act 10:14 But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean." So what was Jonah told to do?. Go to Nineveh, a gentile city, where did he go to, Joppa, where was Peter in acts Ch 10, Joppa.. He was told to eat, he refused.. Afterwards Jonah went to Nineveh a city of three days journey, yet when he had only gone one day they all repented.. What did Peter do, he went to a gentile household, and before he had finished his sermon, they all repented. Now do you see. * Petra the Greek word for Rock, can mean a whole cliff face or even mountain side, see Petra, a location in southern Jordan. * Aramaic, I have been told that there is only one word in Aramaic for pebble, stone, rock. God bless you. Edwin. |

27 | Job 1:6, Is Satan also a son of God? | Gen 6:2 | ebrain | 185735
My understanding is that, the expression, "the sons of God", refers to angels, and that this is also the case with Gen 6:2, bellow. Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan* also came among them. Gen 6:2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose Satan is a created being, as are the other angles, but he chose to be disobedient to God, and is therefore refereed to as a fallen angel. Others will, I have no doubt have something more to say on this subject. ebrain. |

28 | Can a christian go to hell? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 185228
The persons refereed to at this verse, and the next, are not born again Christians. Please read both verses, and then read my comments which follow. Mat 7:22 "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' Mat 7:23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Firstly, no real genuine article born again Christian would dream of boasting of what they have done when they meet the Lord Jesus. Secondly Jesus said, "I never knew you", which means that He never entered into their body in the person of His other self, the Holy Spirit, therefore, this person was never a believer, despite what he says. Note, be very careful, just because a person has done many wonders in His name, that does not mean that he is the real thing, remember the Devil can appear like an angel of light. 2Cr 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 2Cr 11:14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 2Cr 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. Jesus is using the expression "knew you", in the Biblical sense, see Gen 4:1 NOW Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have acquired a man from the LORD." See also, Eph 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:14 who* is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. I hope that this is of help to you. ebrain |

30 | can one lose their salvation | Heb 6:6 | ebrain | 184852
What follows may be of help, it was a post I sent to someone who maintained that it was possible to loose one's salvation. Subject: Once Saved Allways Saved. Col 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Please tell me how it is possible to loose that which is hidden with Christ in God.? 2Ti 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. Please explain why these words of Paul cannot possibly apply also, to all Christians?, are you saying that He is not able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. Be very careful how you answer this question,, you could be calling God a liar. Jud 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you* from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, Are you saying that He is not able to keep me from stumbling, And not able to present me faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, Be very careful how you answer this question,, you could be calling God a liar. Psa 34:7 The angel* of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them I find the above Scripture verse to be both encouraging, and comforting, I hope you do also Phl 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Tell me is He able to do this, or not, is it dependant on me giving Him my permission? What about the following verses. Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure, Am I, a mere human able to prevent God's will being done? Jhn 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. Jhn 10:28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. Jhn 10:29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. Jhn 10:30 "I and My Father are one." Eternal life is everlasting life, and as Jesus says above, they who have it "shall never perish". How then can you possibly say that they will perish, when Jesus says they will not? Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Rom 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 8:30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Note that the word "glorified", is written in the past tense, because from the Divine view point in eternity, it has already happened, do not try to understand it, but take God at his word. A real genuine article born again Christian is eternally secure. God has said so, I believe Him, and that's good enough for me. Jhn 6:37 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. Jhn 6:38 "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. Jhn 6:39 "This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. Jhn 6:40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." Please tell me how anyone can read the above four verses, and still maintain that, "Salvation can be lost"? The Fathers will is that Jesus should not lose any of those who come to Him. Is Jesus able to do His Fathers will, yes, or no? This is not a case of you not losing your salvation, but of Jesus not losing your salvation. You carn't , and He wont. To be continued. |

31 | What's the full meaning of Hebrews 6:4-6 | Heb 6:6 | ebrain | 184848
Subject: Hebrews Ch 6 vs 4-6. First read v 9 before you read 4-6, you will see that the writer is quite sure that sure that what is refereed to in 4-6 has not been committed by them, but there was a fear that it might be. As the title of this letter indicates, this group of believers were all Jews who had accepted Jesus as the Messiah, and were as a result being so severely persecuted by the majority of Jews who did not convert, and that they were seriously considering returning back to established Judaism, until such times as things had died down, and then return back again to believing in Jesus as before. The writer is stating at 4-6, that this is an impossibility,,,, and that is all that is being said here. The word of God does not disagree with itself, and cannot be made to disagree with itself. Why do you suppose that the Lord put so many verses in Scripture to teach Once Saved Always Saved if it were not so?. You are left with a choice, either you believe that this one passage at Heb 6:4-6, indicates that you can loose your salvation, and therefore the 14 passages of Scripture I refereed you to must all be wrong, or you conclude that the 14 are correct, and there must be another explanation for the 1. Regarding Rev 3:21, and similar verses which refer to what is called "The perseverance of the saints", merely confirm that true Christians do exactly that, whereas those who are not the real thing don't. Real born again believers have no alternative, they cannot, and will not perish. If they could then God would be a liar, and the God I worship is not a liar. 1st Cor 10:13, is very helpful here. |

32 | Please explain please the Trinity. | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 184842
I hope the following will be of help to you. Subject: Jesus is God. Jesus is God, but He is also man at the same time. Have a look at Isaiah Ch 48 vs 12-16, but don't read the whole of v 16, just yet, read only, "Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there" (ESV). Now ask yourself, Who is speaking?, the answer can only be, the Lord our GOD, now read the rest of v 16, "And now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his Spirit." it is clear then that the one speaking in the first part of this verse must be our Lord Jesus, and none other. Read Matthew Ch 28 v 19, "in the name" not "names", one name, three persons. Now try Colossians Ch 2 v 9, "For in him the whole fullness of Deity dwells bodily" (ESV). That is to say, all there is of the Father, all there is of the Son, and all there is of the Holy Spirit dwelling inside the body of the Lord Jesus Christ. As I have said before, and will no doubt say again, don't try to understand it, just believe it, God has given you the faith to believe, so use it. The human mind is totally incapable of comprehending the Trinity, or the Deity of Jesus, so don't try. Remember "Without faith, it is impossible to please God". Better rendered as "Without exercising faith". All Scripture verses quoted are from the English Standard Version, unless otherwise stated. At John Ch 14 v 9, Jesus said "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. John Ch 1 v 18 , reads "No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known". or "the only one, who is God"; some manuscripts "the only Son". Note, the Translator's preference is all ways shown in the main text, with possible alternative renderings relegated to footnotes as above. Now have a look at John Ch 8, vs 24, 28, and 58. Here Jesus identifies Himself three times as "I AM", not "I am he" as some Bible's put it, "he" does not appear in the original Greek. the two words are "EGO IME" and are taken from the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the OT made about 300 BC. These two words are taken from Exodus Ch 3 v 14, where God told Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel. I AM has sent me to you"... This is the most Sacred, and Holy name/description of the Lord our God it means "I HAVE BEEN WHAT I HAVE BEEN,I AM THAT/WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE". This Title was also understood by the Jews to mean "The perpetually self revealing all existent one". It was considered so sacred by the Jews, that they were forbidden to pronounce it, when reading Scripture publicly. There was no doubt in the minds of those who heard Jesus, that He was claiming to be God. John 10:17-18. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Note. Only God can raise Himself back from the dead. Who did Isaiah really see? Isa 6:1 IN the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Isa 6:2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. Isa 6:3 And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. Isa 6:5 So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts." John referring to this passage said. Jhn 12:37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, Jhn 12:38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?"* Jhn 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: Jhn 12:40 "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them."* Jhn 12:41 These things Isaiah said when* he saw His glory and spoke of Him So then just who did Isaiah see? Jhn 5:21 "For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. Jhn 5:22 "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, Jhn 5:23 "that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. ebrain. |

37 | origin of the devil | Ezek 28:13 | ebrain | 184126
Most Bible scholars would say that the Scripture passages given bellow refer to Satan, note that verse 13 of Eze 28, says on the day you were created, thereby indicating that it was God who created Satan Isa 14:12 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer,* son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! Isa 14:13 For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' Isa 14:15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit. Isa 14:16 "Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying: 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, Isa 14:17 Who made the world as a wilderness And destroyed its cities, Who did not open the house of his prisoners?' Isa 14:18 "All the kings of the nations, All of them, sleep in glory, Everyone in his own house; Isa 14:19 But you are cast out of your grave Like an abominable branch, Like the garment of those who are slain, Thrust through with a sword, Who go down to the stones of the pit, Like a corpse trodden underfoot. Isa 14:20 You will not be joined with them in burial, Because you have destroyed your land And slain your people. The brood of evildoers shall never be named. Isa 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children Because of the iniquity of their fathers, Lest they rise up and possess the land, And fill the face of the world with cities." Eze 28:12 "Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. Eze 28:13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering:The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. What Jesus is saying here is that the witness of Himself, that is to say the witness of only one man, is not good enough, but that is not in fact the case with Him, as the verses bellow clearly show. Jhn 8:16 "And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. Jhn 8:17 "It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. Jhn 8:18 "I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me." |

The word "Almah", appears seven times in Scripture, as bellow. It is clear from the other six, that a "virgin", is under consideration, why then is there a problem with the seventh? Gen 24:43 'behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass that when the virgin comes out to draw water, and I say to her, "Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink," Exd 2:8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go."
