21 | how do i pray and leave it with the lord | John 15:5 | childoftheking | 36710
Hi MRkormmann, Sure this is a bible question. First off, as the above verse says, we can't do anything apart from Christ and that includes quitting smoking. Deliverance of anything from the enemy is well within your grasp. Do not give in to the enemy. Stay in prayer. James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:10 "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up" There's always a way out for us and it's a promise from God. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it" I will certainly stand with you in prayer to rebuke the enemy and that the desire for smoking be gone in the name of JESUS!! Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven" John 14:13-14 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. I can go into more detail here but if you like, you can e-mail me and we'll correspond that way. Just click "childoftheking" and look at my profile. Love in Christ bgg |

22 | Why read the Bible? | 2 Tim 3:16 | childoftheking | 36708
Hello Meredith and welcome to the forum, Why read the Bible? Because it's the word of God. We are commanded by God to live by every word. Here are some verses that may help you. Romans 15:4 "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." The word is our Food. We need it to grow stronger in our Faith, to grow stronger in our walk. Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" The word is our Offense and our Defense against he enemy. Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him." Ephesians 6:17 "And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." We're Blessed: Luke 11:28 "But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it" And lastly, The Word is alive: Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hope this helps you some. God Bless bgg |

Hello Curiouscat The company you mention is called Applied Digital Solutions, Inc. Yes the chip is primarily for security and for medical emergincies but it does have I believe, far reaching implications. About VeriChip(TM) VeriChip, first announced on December 19, 2001, is a miniaturized, implantable, radio frequency identification device (RFID) that can be used in a variety of medical, security and emergency applications. Utilizing an external scanner, radio frequency energy passes through the skin energizing the dormant VeriChip, which then emits a radio frequency signal transmitting the identification number and other data contained in the VeriChip. VeriChip, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Applied Digital Solutions, was established on February 7, 2002. About Digital Angel(TM) Digital Angel represents the first-ever combination of advanced biosensor technology and Web-enabled wireless telecommunications linked to Global Positioning Systems (GPS). Hi Moriah, Exodus 12:23 speaks of the "destroyer". "For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you." In Numbers 33:4 It says that the Lord struck down the firstborn but I think this means that it was the Lord that "ordered" it and an angel did the destroying. Referring back to the plagues on Egypt, in the NASB, Psalms 78:49 says that they were "a band of destroying angels" while the KJV calls them “Evil angels”. Other passages mentioning a destroying angel are in 1Chron 21:12,15 but I’m sure there are more. I don't know the "form" of the destroyer. I presume whatever form an angel is. Hebrews 11:28 in the New Living Translation speaks of the "angel of death". "It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons." This is the only translation that uses "angel of death". God Bless!! bgg |

26 | Jesus/Joseph/Jacob?or Jesus/Joseph/Heli? | Bible general Archive 1 | childoftheking | 35941
Hi Mist, What I believe we have here is the genealogy of Mary. Jesus being a son of Heli, through Mary. Some say about this: That to explain the statement about Joseph, that he was "the son of Hell," to mean that he was his son-in-law, as the husband of his daughter Mary (as in Rth 1:11, 12 ), and believe that Joseph's name is only introduced instead of Mary's, in conformity with the Jewish custom in such tables. "On comparing the two genealogies, it will be found that Matthew, writing more immediately for Jews, deemed it enough to show that the Saviour was sprung from Abraham and David; whereas Luke, writing more immediately for Gentiles, traces the descent back to Adam, the parent stock of the whole human family, thus showing Him to be the promised "Seed of the woman." JFB Ancient genealogies were almost always traced through the man; this is a problem in the unique situation of a virgin birth. Luke is following Mary's line (Jesus' actual lineage) while Matthew follows Joseph's line (His legal lineage by adoption); being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph is an important phrase. Luke ends with Joseph because he is following proper form and including no women in his genealogy. It’s a legitimate question Mist but one I wouldn’t spend too much time on it as scripture warns us: 1 Timothy 1: 3-4 “As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith.” Also, Titus 3:9 “But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.” Hope this helps Love and Peace in Jesus bgg |

27 | Can God be suprised? | 1 John 3:20 | childoftheking | 35635
Hi peggling, In a word, No. God is, among other things, omniscient, God knows all. He knows what's going to happen long before it happens. Along with 1 John 3:20 here's a few other verses. Proverbs 15:3 "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good." Job 31:4 "Does He not see my ways And number all my steps? " Jeremiah 16:17 "For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes.” Job 13:8-10; “Will you show partiality for Him? Will you contend for God? "Will it be well when He examines you? Or will you deceive Him as one deceives a man? "He will surely reprove you if you secretly show partiality”. No one can hide from God and no one can deceive God. Peace and Joy in Jesus bgg |

28 | Divisions and disunity?? | John 17:21 | childoftheking | 35477
Hi Seeking, I agree with you to a point. Surely a host of bickering among Christians and with all the different denominations; it can be a deterrent to some, but as followers of Christ, I think that if you believe something different than another, then you should speak up and voice your views. There is nothing wrong with that, and we certainly are not to stand by if someone is teaching a false doctrine, be he a Christian or otherwise. That would be the same as agreeing with it. . In my opinion it’s a must to voice our views, not incessantly, but as Paul did in Galatians 1. We are taught in the Bible to prove all things 2 Timothy 4:2 “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.” Titus 1:13 “This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith,” Titus 2:15 “These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.” As was said in a previous post, Aaron died because he stood by and watched Moses strike the rock to extract water instead of speaking up and telling him that it wasn't the way God said to do it. Thanks for listening Peace and Joy in Jesus bgg |

29 | What does Fear God really mean? | Acts 13:16 | childoftheking | 35365
Hi Wak, To Fear God, or the Fear of the Lord certainly has to do with "awe" but it also encompasses the "fear" as we use it today. It can be defined as, but not limited to: awe, reverence, respect, and to fear morally or reverential respect. Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 2 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. Fear of the Lord, as in the above verses (Yirah) is only found in the Old Testament Fear the Lord (Yare) is also only found in the Old Testament as in Proverbs 3:7 "Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Ps 145:6 “Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness.” The word awesome also comes from (Yare) which in the KJV is “terrible” and the Amplified version also uses “tremendous”. To Fear God as it's used in the New Testament would be (phobeo) which is from phobos; from phebomai) (Phobos) to frighten, i.e. (passively) to be alarmed; by analogy, to be in awe of, i.e. revere:--be ( sore) afraid, fear (exceedingly), reverence. Luke 7:16 ”Fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and, "God has visited His people!” (Phobeo) from a primary phebomai (to be put in fear); alarm or fright:--be afraid, exceedingly, fear, terror. Luke 23:40 ”But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?” Please correct me if I am mistaken here. Hope this helps bgg |
