21 | Jesus was born in 4 bc | Luke 2:7 | John Ryals | 227967
The scripture I chose only supports the birth of Jesus. As to the answering of your question: B.C. stands for 'Before Christ', and A. D. means 'Anno Domini' which is a Latin Translation which means, 'in the year of our Lord.'
22 | Please expain John 1:1 in layman's terms | John 1:1 | John Ryals | 230067
"In the Beginning" (does not infer that Christ as God had a beginning, because as God He had no beginning, but rather refers to the time of Creation [Gen 1:1] (The Holy Spirit through John descibes Jesus as the 'Eternal Logos'). "And the Word was with God" means that Jesus was in relationship with God,and expresses the idea of the Trinity. 'And the Word was God,' meaning that He did not cease to be God during the Incarnation; He 'was' and 'is' God from eternity past to eternity future. This very Person was in eternity with God; there's only one God but manifested in three Persons---God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
23 | Is my friend still going to heaven? | John 3:16 | John Ryals | 227953
First let me say that God determines who goes! Now in reference to your question, I like the scriptures in the Book of Revelation where John is sending the letters to the churches. (Revelation, Chapter 2, verses 1-7.) 1 Unto the Angel of the Church of Ephesus write; These things says He who holds the Seven Stars in His Right Hand, Who walks in the midst of the Seven Golden Candlesticks; 2 I know your works and your labour, and your patience, and how you cannot bear them which are evil: and you have tried them which say they are Apostles, and are not, and have found them liars: 3 And have borne, and have patience, and for my Name's sake have laboured, and have not fainted. 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against you, because you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you are fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto you quickly, and remove your candlestick out of his place, except you repent. 6 But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. 7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the Churches; To him who overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. You notice In the first part of the letter the Angel is saying He knew their good works but in the latter part of the letter he was not so satisfied and was instucting them to return to their 'First Love." If we fall away we must repent and return to our Lord and Saviour. FYI: The 'Nicolaitans taught the doctrine of 'Balaam" and "Balaams'" time era began in (B.C. 1451). Balaam was the Son of Beor a man endowed with the gift of prophecy, (Numbers 22:5). The word "Nicolaitanes" means "laity-conquerors." They are Preachers who exploit the people instead of Spiritually developing them, which all false doctrine does. The Lord hates this, and so should we! Try to get friend to come back to "The Cross of Christ!" On a personal thought I am having a hard time believing she believes in Christ making such ludicrous claims. May God Bless you and give you strength to approach your friend and try to get her to return to Church. |

24 | Speaking in tongues | Acts 2:4 | John Ryals | 227935
Some teach and preach that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is an experiencing subsequent to Salvation. Some believe when one is baptized with the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 that he speaks with other Tounges as the Spirit of God gives the utterance. However, while some cherish the Baptism with the Spirit, I believe we must reject the insistence of the "Jesus Only People" that the experience is necessary for Salvation. We cannot accept the view that "born of the spirit" in John 3:5 refers to the experience depicted in Matthew 3:11. The only Baptism that John could give anyone was the "Baptism unto Repentence." He states here that Jesus would Baptize "With the Holy Spirit, and with fire." There are three types of Baptisms', 'The Baptism into Christ', 'Water Baptism', and 'Baptism with the Holy Spirit. Remember Paul said: "For by grace are you Saved through Faith, and that not of yorselves: it is the Gift of God: "Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9.) In view of what Paul said, are the "Jesus Only" adherents Saved? They are basing their Salvation on their in Water Baptism and speaking with other Tongues; however, God cannot honor a salvation by works, only by Faith in Christ, and what Christ has done for us at the Cross. Paul also said: "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation" (Rom. 10:9-10). Not one time here does Paul mention Water Baptism or speaking with other Tongues, or anyhting else for that matter, only "confessing" and "believing." So, in view of all of that, we ask again the question, Are the 'Jesus Only' adherents Saved?" I believe some are and some aren't! If one's faith is in anything other than Christ and what Christ has done for us at the Cross, pure and simple, it is a belief system consisting of "works." God cannot accept that,He can only accept His Son and what He did for us at Calvary, and our Faith in that Finished Work. However, We should ever exalt with ever-increasing fervor and devotion, the Precious Name of Jesus; however, it is my believe it is heretical to apply the Name of Jesus to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, it is my earnest prayer that our souls will be set aflame with the true glory of the wondrous Name of the Son, the Lord Jesus christ. I would pray daily that we would recieve a fresh Revelation of the Beauty and Power of that Name, the Blessed Name, "Jesus." |

25 | WHAT IS THE MEANING OF RENEWING YOUR MIN | Rom 12:2 | John Ryals | 229853
Proverbs 4:23 states, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life," By renewing my mind I renew my heart! Once renewal is achieved I must guard these new dispositions and inclinations, as well as new sympathies and antipathies. Which comes at the time of Conversion and Sanctification. Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good, and acceptable, and Perfect, Will of God." |

27 | God will not put more than we can bear | 1 Corinthians | John Ryals | 227997
1st Corinthians 10:13; 13) "There has no temptation taken you but such is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it." This verse refers to the limitations God has placed upon Satan respecting that which he can or cannot do; as we have God's promise; all temptation is overcome by our Faith remaining constant in Christ and the Cross , which gives the Power of the Holy Spirit to help us, [Rom. 8:2] in the "way of escape" is always the Cross. [Eph. 6:10-18] I hope this is what you are searching for, if not get back with me and we will do our best with the help of the Holy Spirit. I pray to the Heavenly Father that you come through your surgery with no complications and a have quick recovery. Amen. May God Bless You John Ryals |

28 | having sex if engaged biblical stance? | 1 Cor 6:16 | John Ryals | 228076
Your reference scripture,[1st Cor. 10:8] I believe was a warning against immorality. Not just to apply this verse only, to premarital sex; but to apply it against all immoralities. To me the context was verses 1-11 as Paul was speaking to Israel, and my cross reference is [Numbers 25:1-9]. A comment about pre-marital sex: We give our carnal desires head lead by our indulgences, and therefore I feel we should observe and check them when they first rise up: because once they prevail from opportunities we open ourselves to, they begin to sway us, and we know not whither they will carry us. Galatians 5:9; "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." As I give thought to this scripture, I must examine myself and reveal anything, which could taint the 'whole lump' of Chistianity by one of my erroneous principles, or; I could infect the 'Christian Society' by these principles. I should give great concern as to the Life style of Christ and be mindful not to yeild to one single instance, and if I do, I should endeavor by all proper methods to purge out the infection, by repenting and not doing them again. By properly repenting and putting my faith in the Cross of Christ It will give the Holy Spirit the latitude to do his work and guide me in the correct principles. May the Holy Spirit lead, and guide you in all the principles of your relationship. May God Bless You! John Ryals |

29 | What does 'this' refer to | 1 Cor 7:6 | John Ryals | 230344
The Holy Spirit, through Paul, leaves the details of lives, whether celibate or married, to the individual consciences, though with large hearted wisdom and charity. He would emancipate them from human and unauthorized restrictions. In regards to V7, I don't believe this is said by Paul to denigrate marriage as some have claimed; in effect, I believe he is saying that he wished for the Coming Resurrection, when all would be as he was then. In my opinion the 'this' in V7 is the context Paul was speaking of about 'Married Christians' which goes back to V3-V6. Happy Thanksgiving and may God grant you the desires of your heart! 30 | Women pastors... | 1 Timothy | John Ryals | 228122
Good Morning, I may have some scriptures and some historical comments and views that may increase our visions in this thread. First, I believe Paul was setting some guidelines for the Church of Ephesus through Timothy. These letters were to Timothy, because he had been placed into an elderly position with this Church. If I may, I would like to expound on the verses 2:9-15, which the great Apostle Paul wrote, constituted by our Lord Jesus Christ about 'Women's Guidelines' within the Church. I believe I am correct in saying that verse 11 says, "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection." As I look at the condition of the Church today, I ask myself, "Are there qualified men of God who can take the position of Teacher?" Of course there are, but I believe, if there were not any, then I would appreciate a woman standing up and leading the Gospel, so lost souls may come to understand what sin is about, bringing about Holy Spirit conviction, which would cause lost souls to want to repent and turn from wicked ways. After all, Is this not what preaching the Gospel is About? Leading others to the Cross? I know verse 12 states, "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." I have to believe when Paul was writing this letter to Timothy, he was adressing this issue because there were some discrepencies going on in the Church at Ephesus. Again, let me say that verse 12 does deal with a woman's mannerism in the Church, but this is a letter to Timothy about the Church at Ephesus. Again, if a male teacher is more qualified, he should take the lead: otherwise the woman can do so. Her 'silence,' regarding teachings; unless there is no qualified man, which is the case at times, and this is out of the guidlines the Holy Spirit has set. It's time for men of God to stand up and be teachers of the Gospel and quit being cowards! In the Book of Joel, Chapter 2, verse 28; "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions." The spirit shall be poured out upon some of each sex. Not your sons only, but your daughters, shall prophesy; we read of four sisters in one family that were prophetesses, Acts 21:9. Not the parents only, but the children, shall be filled with the Spirit, which intimates the continuance of this gift for some ages successively in the church. In the 2nd Chapter of Acts, on 'The Day of Penecost' and when it was fully come, Peter spoke of this prophesy by the Prophet Joel, [Acts 2:16-17.] Our God is soveriegn! He can do anything he must do in order to fulfill His prophecies, and to accomplish what He started. We must think, If he can make a Donkey speak, could he not make a woman a preacher or a teacher or a Pastor? May God Bless You, John Ryals |

34 | In Rev 20:11-15, who are the "dead"? | Rev 20:12 | John Ryals | 227950
11 "And I saw a Great White Throne " (proclaims the final Judgement of the unredeemed, which will take place at theend of the Kingdom Age), "and Him Who sat on it (proclaims none other than God: however, we must understand that it is the Person of the Godhead, the Lord Jesus Christ [Mat. 25:31]; he is the saviour today; He will be the Judge tomorrow), "from Whose face the Earth and the Heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 9This means a New Heaven and Earth are in the offing.) 12 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God"(pertains to the second Resurrection, the Resurrection of Damnation [I Cor., Chpt. 15; I Thess. 4:13-18; Jn. 5:29[);"and the Books were opened: and another Book of Life: and the daed were Judged out of those things which were written in the Books, according to their works (proclaims the manner of Judgement). 13 "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and Nell delivered up the dead which were in them (points to the fact that every unredeemed person who has ever lived will face the Great White Throne Judgement; none will be exempted): and they were Judged every man according to their works (records the fact that this Judgement is not arbitrary, but is based on absolute Justice). 14 "And death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire" (combined, includes the wicked of all ages). "This is the second death" (Eternal separation from God and the Lake of Fire). 15 "And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life" (refers to the record of all the unredeemed) was cast into the Lake of Fire." (This includes every single individual who isn't Redeemed, beginning with Adam and Eve. That is, if they didn't come back to God.) |
