23 | Is it possible Mary and Joseph took refu | Matt 2:13 | Songbirdca | 74387
I thought so. I was at a several Eygptian travel sites and they have the "supposed" travel route that Mary and Joseph took. I was wondering how they got it. I wonder if Mary and Joseph took refuge in the city of Petra? I'm writing a book about them and I wish I could get a sense of where in Eygpt they fled to. |

25 | What about the star? | Matt 2:1 | Songbirdca | 72952
Thank you for your response. I completely forgot about the disgrace issue with Mary, but I would like to point out some things, that are still bothering me. Nazareth is about 100 kilometers away from Bethlehem (2 hrs by car, about a week to a week and a half by foot). Bethlehem is about 5 to 8 km outside of Jerusalem. With that in mind - think of the star (it's proximity to Jerusalem and Bethlehem and surrounding vicinity) it could be seen apparently for miles. Being so close to Jerusalem and Herod's henchmen, wouldn't Herod or someone in the vicinity have seen it before the Magi arrived? Assuming of course they had arrived almost 2 years later. Also, since it was so visible, would it have been wise for Mary and Joseph to have stayed in Bethlehem for close to 2 years? (Just a thought). Also, Nazareth was North of Jerusalem (Bethlehem south of Jerusalem) why would Mary and Joseph complete their duties at the temple then turn back to Bethlehem when their home was in the opposite direction? There is the disgrace issue and of course the census probably did take some time. But two years? One more thing, we know there was a two year time frame because of Herod's decision to kill all male children 2 yrs old and younger. If it had been a 40 day time frame he would have killed just newborn males. As you can see I have many questions in regards to this. |

26 | Did the Magi visit Bethlehem or Nazareth | Matt 2:1 | Songbirdca | 72911
When the magi visited Jesus, was he in Bethlehem or Nazareth? Luke and Matthew seem to have conflicting accounts. Luke has Jesus returning with his parents to Nazareth after they had him consecrated to the Lord in the Temple in Jerusalem. Matthew has him in Bethlehem for 2 years. Why would Mary and Joseph stay in Bethlehem for two years when their home was in Nazareth? It doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone clarify? |

29 | Was Clopas Cleopas? | NT general Archive 1 | Songbirdca | 49929
While reading about the two on the Road to Emmaus I noticed that one of the men mentioned was named Clopas. I know that Cleopas was the husband of the 'other Mary'. (John 19: 24-26) I wonder if this Clopas here is just a variant on the spelling of his name. Also there is a Simon mentioned I don't believe that it is Simon Peter, so I'm wondering if it might be Simon the Leper. Any thoughts on that? Songbirdca aka Laura |

30 | Who anointed Jesus' body? | John 19:40 | Songbirdca | 49905
Why did the women come back to anoint Jesus' body, if Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea had already done it? Check out John 19:38-42; Mark 16:1 and Luke 24:1. Songbirdca |

36 | Who was at the Last Supper? | Mark 14:16 | Songbirdca | 48936
Is there any reason to believe that more than just the twelve chosen disciples were present at the Last Supper? I point you to Mark 14:12-20. Read it carefully, remembering that a 'disciple' is a follower of Christ. Look at vs. 16 and 17 in particular as well as vs. 20. Why would Jesus say it was one of the Twelve if no one else was there? 38 | Where did Jesus call Simon and Andrew? | John 1:35 | Songbirdca | 47681
In Mark 1:16-20 we read where Jesus called Simon and his brother Andrew to be his disciples. He found them in Galilee fishing. However in John 1:35-42 it says something completely different. Why the discrepancy? Can anybody clear this up? Songbirdca |
