201 | Provide Refernece for Single World Gov | Rev 13:17 | JCrichton | 137208
Hi, Lisa G! Glad to have been of service! ...just as points of reference: Euro-single dollar (not yet in effect) US dollar as international currency Islam (exclusion of all non-Moslems) These are three forms of governments or machinations that could bloosom into a one-world government/mechanish! Three additional candidates: world-wide comradery amonng terrorists (both the drug empire and the organized murderers of children and innocent civilians) ditto among pornagraphy and its culture ditto among homosexuality and its culture The latter has been exercising much political and cultural influence (to the inclusion of the Jewish nation, the children of God's predilection, accepting homosexuality as part of their culture)... These, the top candidates could very well be the pillars which the beast (dragon) would use to create that world-government that will oppose Christ! God Bless! Angel |

"The twelve names of the twelve apostles" Hi, Kalos! Thank you for your assistance... it seems that most people reject anything Scripture offers if there isn't a concensus of "experts"... I mean, they even reject Scripture or singularize one particular verse excluding all others or attempt to place all other Scriptural passages into a mold that supports their "choice" interpretation... Clearly Paul was not lying when he called himself the "least of the apostles!" Yet, this self-critique does not negate the fact that Paul was an apostle! The disciples were given full authority by Christ to establish and maintain His Body, so it is not surprising that the apostles would call the believers "saints" or that they would speak of the "apostles" to include more than the original Eleven and the substitue for Judas (Acts 1:16-26)... Also to deny that the Holy Spirit has the Authority to "send" or call others to the office of apostleship would be to deny that He is God and that it is He whom Jesus promised that would come and reveal all truth! (John 14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7-15; Acts 5:3-4) It is true, Scripture some times appears to be contradicting itself... but as Paul notes: "now we only know partially... then we will know as we are known!" (1 Corinthians 13:9-10, 12) God Bless! Angel |

Hi, AO! I will not venture into denominational discourse... rather I would have you examine Scripture: Did Christ establish His Church to last 50 to 100 years (the expected life span of the youngest of the Thirteen)? Did Christ/Holy Spirit give some to be apostles only for the finite time of that limited existence of the Church (50 to 100 years)? Does Scripture not tells us that till John the Baptist were the Law and the prophets, and does Paul not tell us that there is an order in the Church (which John happened not to be a participant since he was decapitated by the order of Herodias--through her daughter) of which the first are the apostles, then the prophets...? We can rationalize and interprete Scripture as we please... but Scripture, though at times seeming to contradict itself, will always offer a more complete doctrine than many choose to accept! I can only offer you Scripture... you be the final judge: a) if the Church ceased to exist for over 15 hundred years only to be reinvented by the twentieth century's "truly spiritual theologians", b) if there is a perennial existence of the Church as Jesus foretold or if new agers ("today's Christians) determine for the Holy Spirit what the Church of Christ is, c) if the Holy Spirit has no power to "send" or institute apostles to lead the Church or if the Holy Spirit took a 15 hundred year sabbatical to rethink the structure of the Church! I like to clarify to you that I do not seek to take liberties fueled by intellect (having organized crime syndicate "send" someone to take care of "business" does not make that person an apostle! Nor does paying a fee to an organization makes a person a representative of Christ!)... my offer is what Scriture offers: Christ established a perennial Church, one that even Satan cannot destroy, and, through the Holy Spirit, He established the Body with all its members, including the Apostles and prophets... Finally it is the option of every human being to accept the Body of Christ as He established it or to redefine it--after all there are over 20k Christian denominations world-wide! God Bless! Angel God Bless! Angel |

Hi, AO! An Apostle is one that is sent... though we term "Apostle" only the thirteen... thouse who were sent by them they too were "sent" or "apostles". I know this is treading on semantics... so if it is better understood "sent," then please substitute "apostles" with "sent." God Bless! Angel |

"just kitchen maids" Hi, CiY! When we read Scripture we find that there were women who owned property, and managed businesses... in some cases it would be the affluent females in the various townships that would assist the Way... to relegate all Christians females to kitchen maid status would be a masochist-neanderthalian distortion of the Christian womanhood! ...conversely, expecting Christ to seek out the gentiles and to choose His disciples from among the gentiles would only demonstrate a shallow knowledge of Scripture... We can spar forever, thrusting and parrying back and forth with interpretation and innuendos, yet the fact is that Scripture does not support female apostles and preachers--every single account of a person going to the Jews or Gentiles to minister to them has been a male... If we apply your prior interpretation (Paul meaning that God made us all (male and female)Apostles, and preachers, etc...) to Scripture that tells us that we are all a kingdom of priests (1 Peter 2:9)--made priests onto God by Jesus--what need is there of apostles and ministers and preachers? Could we not just minister onto ourselves and our children?... but to made void Scripture by our liberal interpretations was never God's design... though we are all called to be part of a priestly kingdom not all are confided with the task to minister to God's people... this is why Paul says that not all are called to be Apostles, or prophets, or preachers or teachers... (1 Corinthians 12:28-31) More often than not, liberal interpretation of Scripture misses the totality of Doctrine! (James 3:1;) Though we are all called to the priestly kingdom (to be holy), there are some who are charged with the task of ministering (Romans 10:13-15); but it is God who calls them to the various offices in the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). Liberal interpretation of Scripture only confounds man and limits Scripture... some are adamant that there is nothing for us to do but claim Christ as our safe passage to eternity... that to say that we add to Christ's efforts is apostasy--yet Scriture tells us that Salvation is offered to us gratis but that it requires two parts to seal the Covenant and that it is our responsibility to accept God's terms and to build ourselves into God's Living Temple (1 Peter 2:5)... so this holy priesthood is the same Command from old to be holy as God, our Father, is Holy! (1 Peter 1:16; Leviticus 11:44; 19:2) Though all of the children of Israel were called to the priesthood in the terms of keeping themselves holy... there were specific people who were called to occupy the actual office of the priesthood--all male, of course. This priesthood has never ceased to exist as Jesus established His Church and appointed some to be Apostles--all male; and these in turn initiated others as apostles who would continue their service to God and His people (Acts 6:1-4; 8:14-25; 1 Timothy 4:13-16; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:4-11). Hi, CiY! It is good to combine Scripture... it is in light of Scripture that we can understand other Scripture... Yet, when we interprete Scripture we must adhere to Scripture and not to our personal views or inclinations... If Paul had suggested that men and women served in the Chruch in the same offices why are there no females named as aspostles? Why did all the references to ministry is to male apostles and disciples? Did Jesus make a mistake and forgot that there were females living among the 12 men He chose as His disciples? And when faced with the very first internal administrative crisis, why did the Twelve not name a few of the female counterparts to care for the widows? They chose seven men to tend to the needs of the Church's widows! (Acts 6:1-7) When we read a novel or a non-fiction story we can speculate till the end of the story... Scripture does not allow for speculation, we either accept God's Word as His Command or we circumvent the Truth! God Bless! Angel |

207 | The little words | James 3:9 | JCrichton | 136816
Hi, Lissa! In Matthew 12:34 Jesus is speaking of matters of the heart or the deposit of our intellect and spiritual beings... even simple language as "whatever" can have a negative connotation if the heart is ill or thirsty for vengeance or wickedness... we are witness to this duality of language both at home (people, radio, tv, movies...) and elsewhere (office, school, streets...); even children are becoming more and more calloused as they imitate the adults in their lives or their "heroes/idols..." I remember when, years back, I used to relish insulting people with a smile on my face... I was so cunning and subtle that the object of my assault did not even realize it; at times it took a few secods or a third party to clarify that I had meant what I said as an insult (of couse most of the times it was done in jest; but people could never be sure when I was "just kidding"). I loved that sense of "superiority" that "crushing" peoples spirit afforded me... I was much like a stand-up comic... looking for ways to pull the rug from under those around me... Words are so seemingly neutral... yet, we can, and have, learn to twist and bend them just the right way to cause as much or more damage and pain than sticks and stones! This is precisely why there are admonishions in Scripture about the words that we use... I love James 3:9 so much because it liberated me from the negative power of words--OK James uses tongue, instead; just think, if a smile can brighten someone's life... how much more can a pleasant, supportive, and hopeful word/s do? Negative and hurtful words can cause irreparable damage and deep-rooted pain. The worst part is that once released we can never take back the harm we cause with these negavite words--many relationships fail due to the practice of one or both parties engaging in the battle of words. This is why it is so important for Christians to measure themselves and to check their anger at the beginning of any interchange with others, specially with God! (James 1:19-20)... This said, I must counsel you that though we cannot judge another person's deposit of the heart, people, through self-disclosure, reveal to us the treasures that they have stored in their hearts (Jesus words, though not ad verbum)... We are highly intelligent beings... when speaking to others, even over the telephone, we can tell when the other person is distracted, eating, attempting to carry on a conversation with others at his/her end--no matter how subtle the exchange is--, we can tell if the person is happy, sad, tormented with worry, smiling, sympathetic, apathetic... the more intimate the relationship, the more the mind is able to read from the voice, the words, the entonations, the pauses... You are in a position of knowing your ex's habits, body language, and capacity to control or demoralize other people... Culturally "whatever" has become the quintessential word of completeness (encompassing all spectrums: good, bad and ugly--work with me... sometimes I run into old movies or songs in my analogies!)... too often, when people fail to have facts supporting their arguments they resort to use "whatever" as a shield to reject the opposite argument/s... this allows them to safe face by not admitting that their position is wrong! You may not be able to distinguish between animosity or sauciness when speaking with a stranger... but you are able to read your ex in light of your past personal relationship with him... without passing unjust judgment, you can distinguish between a charged or sassy "whatever" or whatever other expressions he may use! Remember to weigh in all of the conversation... if you simply dissect one word out of the total you may elevate it to a value beyond its original intent... the tone of the conversation is also important to gauge the meaning of words... is he being disrespectful, loud, angry, accusatory, defensive, unduly agressive or argumentative...? Lastly, define the status of your relationship... where is it, where is it heading, are there ulterior motives behind the dialy communications, is there a future (or hope for) reconciliation? As a Christian you are obliged to keep the peace and to behave with more justice than the world... but never are you obligated to suffer the world to the extent of sacrificing Christ's Doctrine... Love does not exact selfish deeds... make him aware, if you have not done so yet, of how much he is hurting you; and set clear boundaries on your relationship with him! If after all the prayers, and patient requests your ex cannot curb the behavior which causes you to lose your peace (and eventually your grace), you must consider distancing yourself from him... God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Gab! Your testimony is strong and uplifting! Jesus warned the disciples that the world would hate them on account of Him (John 15:18-20)--since the world did not receive Jesus, all of Jesus' disciples would receive the same treatment... yet, there were those who listened and believe and through the disciples there are those who listen and believe! I understood from your testimony that Satan blinded you for a while... that while you knew that Jesus was the answer, you still wanted to hold on to the old Gab (the popular guy with the "friends" and the "girls" and the "parties!")... it was when you committed to Christ that you realized how wrong you were... you realized that He would vomit you out of His mouth (Revelation 3:16)... you realized that you were doing a disservice to both the Lord and His Body and to yourself! Your commitment to stick it out is what Jesus refers to as those who "stand" or "overcome..." those who are His true disciples! The worst lot for a Christian to preach to or evangelize are his/her previous "friends..." these are the people who, with the now Believer, enjoyed rejecting Christ and reveling in all the unrightous acts with witch they defiled themselves and God! The strongest evangelization that we can do is STAY THE COURSE! We can convict more of our past "friends" by maintaining our devotion and commitment to the Lord than all the preaching and sharing of Scripture with them... of course, as we continue our life in the Lord, they will become convicted of their own failures and through our gentle ministering to them the Holy Spirit may be able to awaken in them the Truth: Jesus is the Resurrection and Life! As far as the pastor... you cannot be responsible for him! You cannot account for his actions any more than I can... those who come to you protesting of hypocracy on the part of Christians you will do well in reminding them that it is the man who fails not Christ! It is our stubbornness that keeps us from submitting to our wills to God! And it is our doublemindedness that causes us to walk in the Lord for a time, only to reject Him when our whim is not satisfied! Remind them also that not all are able to lead and instruct in the Lord... that a servant of Christ is not subject to only one station in the Lord... many are called to be healers, listeners, laborers, preachers, and yes, even wonderers... Remind them that being Christian is a life-time commitment and that many who begin their life in the Lord are as confused and as frightened as when they only knew the things of the world! I will be praying for you and for this ex-servant of Christ! God Bless! Angel |

209 | Thy will be done, statement or fact? | Matt 6:9 | JCrichton | 136657
Hi, Steve! I understand your position! There are many Scriptural passages that infer just such argument: God's Creation, God's Design, God's Will imposed on Pharaoh, Israel, Judas and others... But, clearly, it is not God's Will that we should perish; it is not God's Will that we self-destruct; it is not God's Will that we wallow in unrighteousness or that we succumb to the lustful and envious desires of the flesh... For our collective good, God allows humanity to suffer sporadic episodes of rebelliousness, disloyalty and even disbelief... it is through our frailties that He convicts us of our failures and our dependence on Him! I respectufully disagree with your statement ("all that we do is God's will")... It is not that all that we do is God's Will (the terrible wickedness, hatred, discord, and apathy of so many in the world attests to this fact); rather, it is God's Will that we return to the state to which He aspired us to achieve: His image and likeness! (1 Peter 1:16) So God, in His benevolent and merciful patience, allows us the freedom to choose to abide in Him or to reject Him(Deuteronomy 30:19-20; Isaiah 1:18-20: Ez 18:30-32; John 11:25-26; Romans 5:6-21)... but His Will is imposed, not on an individual level but on a universal level where God's Holy Spirit enlightens the most receptive servants so that God's Remnant will continue to obey God's Will by willingly subjecting their will to His! (Romans 9:27-29 and Romans 11:5-36) It is God's Will that we turn to Him and abide in Him... but He made us in His image and likeness: free to choose to love and serve Him and free to choose to reject Him and serve our own iniquities! Isaiah 1:18-20 is so enlightening! It demonstrates God's immeasurable Mercy and Love--He is willing to cleanse us from anything and everything and never to hold our past against us... yet, He exacts just retribution on those who revel in their deliberate disobedience and rejection of His Authority! Jesus lowered Himself to our level so that He could rescue us from our eminent demise, but even then, He allowed us to willingly submit ourselves to God's Will... those of us who do are granted to power to become children of God! (John 1:1-14) Yet, even the promise of such great treasure many simply choose to reject God's Gift, embracing their fatalistic demise (John 3:17-21; Romans 1:20-32) Jesus calls us to be one with Him as He is One with the Father (John 17:21-22); but He will not force His Authority on anyone who does not willingly obeys and abides in Him! (John 6:53-67; Luke 17:12-19) We are of the elect, in Jesus, if we willingly submit our wills to God's Will... if we do, God's Will is that we be saved! (John 6:39-40) God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Msg! There are people who will say no! Then there's Scripture: John 6:48-56; Matthew 26:26-28; Luke 22:19-20 Even when Jesus' contemporaries found it difficult to accept, He did not attempt to disuade them from their understanding of His Word... He simply challanged the Twelve: "do you too want to leave?" (John 6:59-67) The Jews understood that Jesus was not speaking figuratively! For this very reason Paul admonishes the Corinthians and cautions them about their despicable treatment of the Lord's Body and Blood! (1 Corinthians 10:15-21; 11:23-27). For as often as we eath this Eucharistic Sacrifice... God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Sam! I think that you are missing Searcher's point... though you are allowing your brother to operate the vehicle, technically it is still yours... so there could hardly be said that you are at a loss... I am having problems following this thread... are you equating wealth to spirituality? I mean, do you subscribe to the notion that God gives good things to those who are "tight" with Him? Do you equate poverty to serviture to the devil? Please, don't get me wrong! God can shower anyone with wealth and longivity and power (it is He who has all power)... you may have been blessed by God with wealth, intelligence, and other gifts... does that testefies to your being closer to God than poor people in China who have practically nothing, who must share a page from a Bible (which they treasure with their own lives) while they run the risk of being found out or sold out and put into prison because they serve Christ? Let me leave you with this passage: Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." (Mark 12:41-44) Clearly, by man's standards the wealthy people serve God better because they are affluent and they abound in their gifts to help the Temple and the poor... But God's standards pierces through to the heart and mind and spirit and He saw the Love for God that that poor widow had... her offering surpassed all feigned offerings! God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Pray On! Not only in third-world countries... here in the good ole US of A is also happening! I've been trying to follow some of this thread... it seems that some equate having wealth to being closer to God... and that Jesus has some how guaranteed that those who Believe in Him will not suffer any needs... What Bible version are they reading? What congregation purports that anyone who is not middle class and up is does not believe in Christ? Were Jesus' warnings against the blindness created by the lust for wealth and power idle rhetoric? And when Judas feigned interest for the poor did Jesus not state that there would always be poor in the world? Did Jesus not admonished that His followers should strive to amass treasure in Heaven and not on earth? Can you imagine Christ's "Club" being closed to people with yearly incomes below 100K or so? You are right! People are burying their heads in the sand! Not only that, they are reinventing Christ... making Him a more affluent and political correct Savior! God Bless! Angel |

213 | Isaiah 45:7 | Is 45:7 | JCrichton | 136583
Hi, Mark! I understand your argument! But Judas is not an anti-Christ! He never rose up against Jesus and claimed to be a god! He never established a "church" to both imitate and contradict Christ! He is called the son of perdition because He was destined to betray the Son of Man: "it would have been better for him not to have been born!" There is no record of Judas--aside from selling out His Master, acting against Jesus in a coop d'état! Rejecting Christ's Authority and seeking to usurp His Power is what defines an anti-Christ... Please read the whole chapter (Zechariah 11) paying attention to what is truly being revealed... specifically pay extreme attention to verse 6: For I will no longer have pity on the people of the land," declares the LORD . "I will hand everyone over to his neighbor and his king. They will oppress the land, and I will not rescue them from their hands." Yahweh is not saying that He will create an anti-Christ or many anti-Christs... He is tired of the people rejecting His Authority and Counsel and He decided to remove His Protection from them! Further... the anti-Christ (any of them) cannot be reveal prior to the Word's incarnation! True there are prophecies about the Heavenly Battle and the final encounter where Satan and his minions (which will include humanity's own rebellious factions) will be cast into the lake of fire... yet, though we know and understand that Jesus is God and that He existed as the Son throughout time, the anti-Christ/s could not be revealed till His death and Resurrection (1 John 2:22; 4:3; 2 John 1:7; Revelation 12:9-17; 2 Corinthians 11:14; 2 Thessalonians 2:6-12). God Bless! Angel |

If you mean that God created the angel (Lucifer) who allowed pride and lust for power to blind him as he sought to overthrow God's Authority... then, yes! If you are saying that God created the evil creature known to us as Satan or the Ancient Serpent or the Dragon... I have to disagree with you! Not only do we find Scritpure that attests to Creating being good (Genesis 1:31) but we can see condensed snapshots of Satan's disobedience and assault on the Divine Throne (Isaiah 14:9-20; Revelatin 12:3-4, 7-17; Genesis 3:15; Luke 10:18-20; 22:31-32; John 8:44; 12:31-32; 14:30; 16:11; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12; Revelation 2:9-11, 13-14, 24-25; 3:9-11; 20:2-3, 7-10). Hi, Mark! To understand the verses you've cited you must understand what is happening in the full context... when reading Zechariah 11:6, we find that God is actually castigating the unrighteous behavior of the people--by no means is God creating a creature that will usurp His Throne; in terms of the Old Covenant God is removing His protection and allowing destruction to come upon those who have tried His patience once too often! Hi, James! This title is well known to Israel, as Yahweh made reference to Himself as beeing Israel's Shepherd--He also promised that He would install a sheperd over Israel that would care for the flock according to His Will (Isaiah 40:10-11; 49:10; Jeremiah 31:10; Ezekiel 34:2-31;)... Jesus too makes reference to Himself as the Shepherd of Israel, but not simply to accomodate Scripture (Matthew 26:31, Zechariah 13:7), He is claiming His title as the Shepherd of Israel (as I and the Father are One) the One who unites both flocks (Jews and Gentiles) into one fold! (John 10:16) God Bless! Angel |
