201 | Salvation is open to all! | 2 Pet 3:9 | EdB | 243495
2 Peter 3:9 (NASB) 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. Matthew 18:13-14 (NASB) 13 "If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. 14 "So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish. Mark 10:26-27 (NASB) 26 They were even more astonished and said to Him, "Then who can be saved?" 27 Looking at them, Jesus said, "With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God." Luke 2:10 (NASB) 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; Luke 3:6 (NASB) 6 AND ALL FLESH WILL SEE THE SALVATION OF GOD.'" Luke 14:20-21 (NASB) 20 "Another one said, 'I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.' 21 "And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, 'Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.' John 6:40 (NASB) 40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." Romans 1:16 (NASB) 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 5:18 (NASB) 18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. Romans 10:13 (NASB) 13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." 1 Timothy 2:3-4 (NASB) 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Titus 2:11 (NASB) 11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, Hebrews 2:9 (NASB) 9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. 1 John 2:2 (NASB) 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |

Proof against election.
203 | Our Central Problem | Josh 24:27 | EdB | 243493
How true and how very many deny the power of the Holy Spirit choosing instead to explain away any manifestation of the Holy Spirit with their intellect and logic.
204 | Bad verse for predestination | Luke 6:43 | EdB | 243492
Someone used this verse as a proof text for election. However before salvation we are all bad trees producing bad fruit. Therefore this verse does not support election. |

205 | Hyper calvinism and Backsliding? | Bible general | EdB | 243486
I agree this is exactly the reason the SBF is not being used. I think we were having a good discussion. Nothing nasty or unsettling!
206 | Hyper calvinism and Backsliding? | Bible general | EdB | 243483
How is a person enlightened? How have they tasted of heavenly fruit? How are par takers of the Holy Spirit? How have they tasted the good word and the power to come? Unless they are saved? How is possible renew unless one was already once in repentance? |

Perhaps I should ask what does Hebews 6:4-6 say to you.
208 | Hyper calvinism and Backsliding? | Bible general | EdB | 243479
Verses 4-6. It is taking of a saved person and says if they fall away it is impossible to restore them back to salvation. It goes on and says to do so would require them again to crucify Jesus for their sin. Then look at Hebews 10:25 it says if we are saved and willingly sin there is no longer a sacrifice for our sin. Two very clear verses saying the same thing. To be saved and then willingly sin there is no longer a sacrifice under which redemption for that sin can be found. I not do believe this sin being talked about here is a sin like telling a lie, but rather the sin of apostasy where we deny Christ, deny the Holy Spirit or deny God himself. |

209 | Biblical reasons for divorce? | 1 Cor 7:15 | EdB | 243477
The vows themselves where you commit to life long marriage
210 | They Burn the Bible bit by bit | 2 Pet 2:1 | EdB | 243474
"Divisions and separations are most objectionable in religion. They weaken the cause of true Christianity ...But before we blame people for them, we must be careful that we lay the blame where it is deserved. False doctrine and heresy are even worse than schism. If people separate themselves from teaching that is positively false and unscriptural, they ought to be praised rather than reproved. In such cases separation is a virtue and not a sin." --J. C. Ryle AMEM! That is exactly what I have always said |

211 | They Burn the Bible bit by bit | 2 Pet 2:1 | EdB | 243473
"Men today do not, perhaps, burn the Bible, nor does the Roman Catholic Church any longer put it on the Index, as it once did. But men destroy it in the form of exegesis: they destroy it in the way they deal with it. They destroy it by not reading it as written in normal, literary form, by ignoring its historical-grammatical exegesis, by changing the Bible's own perspective of itself as propositional revelation in space and time, in history..." --Francis Schaeffer AMEM! |

212 | Biblical reasons for divorce? | 1 Cor 7:15 | EdB | 243472
I think the real discussion on divorce we have to ask is it okay to break a vow made to God? Deuteronomy 23:21 (NASB) 21 "When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not delay to pay it, for it would be sin in you, and the LORD your God will surely require it of you. In a marriage we make a vow to our spouse, to the witnesses and to God to remain married until death parts us. Jesus said there is one exception, adultery on the part of one of the members of the marriage. At that point the vow was broken |

I should have added as seen in the Book of James
214 | What shouold we fight about | Rom 1:25 | EdB | 243470
I agree nothing we can do will merit our salvation. However there are a few things we have to do to be saved.
215 | What shouold we fight about | Rom 1:25 | EdB | 243469
There are Creeds and then there are creeds. The Apostles Creed is an excellent example, developed and constructed by the Holy Spirit using men dedicated to serving God. However many creeds were developed by men trying to justify what they believed at the expense of other denominational doctrines. Creeds developed in this manner and for this purpose serve no useful purpose other than bringing division and strife.
216 | Avoid the Cloistered Mentality | 2 Tim 4:13 | EdB | 243468
That is true but when there is so many excellent authors and great men we can quote why quote men that lived life for worldly gain rather than to serve God?
217 | Perhaps experience is authoritative | John 9:15 | EdB | 243467
John 9:15 There are many words spoken that say experience can not be trust, that it isn’t authoritative. Yet a huge part of the New Testament is the experiences of the men and women that served God. We accept those accounts as authoritative but we refuse to accept “today’s†experiences. Is this not exactly what the Pharisees did in this account of Jesus healing the blind man? John 9:14-30 (KJV) 14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. 15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. 16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. 17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. 18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? 20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: 21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. 22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him. 24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. 25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. 26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes? 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? 28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. 29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. 30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. The Pharisees refused to believe the experience. They offered all man’s logic, all of man’s wisdom but they missed the whole experience. They often miss the move of God while they sit staunchly denying that God would do such a thing, just like the Pharisees of Jesus’ Day. |

218 | Being a people pleaser | Luke 6:26 | EdB | 243459
It is amazing how many people that go out of their way to pay tribute and honor to others. Of then they quote them to make their point but then use scripture as a sword in an attempt to slice others to pieces. Then piously talk about loving people as was Christ’s example. Beware when they speak nice of you, they do the same with the false prophets |

220 | What shouold we fight about | Rom 1:25 | EdB | 243457
A real danger today. We see people defending denominational doctrines instead of Christ. Hebrews 6:1-3 (KJV) 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit. Gives us the doctrine we need to be concerned about but I we see wanting to argue repentance, argue if you really need faith toward God, how baptisms should be done, whether laying on of hands is for today or not. Thankfully there is few that argue the resurrection of the dead but many argue if dead are with Jesus or in soul sleep and eternal judgement is disputed. What craziness! We can’t agree with the fundamental doctrines handed down to us. |
