201 | Giving them the holy spirit [sic]? | Acts 15:8 | Ray | 89389
In looking at this verse I do not see it as speaking about the Person of the Holy Spirit. Rather, I would have you consider the holy spirit as being synonymous with the "word of the gospel" in Acts 15:7. Similarly, I would have you consider putting spirit in the lower case for Acts 2:18, "Even upon My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My *spirit And they shall prophecy." Can we not contrast/compare Acts 15:8 with Romans 8:16, "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." The spirit and word of the gospel that we have received is a spirit of adoption as sons which leads us to cry out in faith. God gives us the holy spirit. Consider that with me. |

202 | The Lord is my Shepherd? | John 10:14 | Ray | 88422
This question is posed after considering Psalm 23 and John 10:14 and after reading #88387. Is Jesus the Good Shepherd or the good shepherd? Is He our Owner or does He own us? When considering John 10:6, do you think we are any closer to understanding the things of God? From the heart, Ray |

203 | Do we now know that...? | John 16:30 | Ray | 86185
We have already discussed John 9:24 on the forum, but I was comparing that verse with John 16:30 today in my reading. "We know that" is important to this book and his other letters. 1 John 3:5, "And you KNOW THAT He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin." I believe that the Greek includes one more pronoun; in order "that our sins He might take away". Can there be any doubt that this Man was not a sinner? Why does the Amplified feel it necessary to say that "Because of this we believe that you [sic] [really] came from God."? If He really came from God lets say with John 16:30, NASB, "by this we believe that You came from God." John 16:27, "for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God." From the heart, Ray |

204 | Thanks to God? | Ps 30:12 | Ray | 85184
Thanks be to God. Psalm 30:12, Romans 7:25, 1 Corinthians 15:57, 2 Thessalonians 2:13. Would anyone care to add to the list?
205 | Where in Matthew is "one man" mentioned? | Genesis | Ray | 85175
Hi, Where in Matthew do you find mention of "one man"? Romans 5:17, "For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the **One, Jesus Christ/." ...through the obediance of the One..." If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:45, "So also it is written, "The first MAN, ADAM, BECAME A LIVING SOUL." The last **Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47,NKJ, "The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord/ from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of (God); nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed--" Thanks be to God. See 1 Corinthians 15:57,58 and 2 Thessalonians 2:13,14. If we are slaves, instruments, weapons of righteousness for God we receive great benefit. Romans 6:22, "But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to (God), you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life." From the heart, Ray |

206 | Search and see that...? | John 7:52 | Ray | 84409
Can anything be learned by comparing/contrasting John 5:7 and 2 Kings 10:23 and Deuteronomy 4:29? From the heart, Ray |

207 | What were, are, they filled with? | 2 Corinthians | Ray | 83643
I don't know if Ezekiel is still posting on the forum, so I will ask this of everybody. He has written of the coming of the spirit, the filling of the Holy spirit [sic], received the holy spirit, and filled with the spirit. Others have spoken of the filling of the Holy Spirit, receiving the Holy Spirit, filled with the Spirit. How do we understand the spirit or Spirit? What do people feel that they are filled with when they speak in tongues? Who or what gives them "utterance"? Acts 2:4 Who or what gives them the ability to speak out? Could we see spirit AND Spirit in Acts 2:4? From the heart, Ray |

208 | Lay down my life? Am I a shepherd? | John 10:17 | Ray | 83566
What can we learn by comparing/contrasting John 10:17 and John 15:13?
209 | How does this order of authority work? | Eph 1:20 | Ray | 83560
I want to offer this translation from Jay P.Green, Sr., Editor from Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, third edition. Perhaps someone knowledgeable in Greek can comment on its merits. Ephesians 1:20, "which He worked in Christ having raised Him from (the) dead; yea, (He) seated (Him) at His right in the heavenlies,...v22 and He put all (things) under His feet and gave Him (to be) Head over all (things) to the church." What I want to do is compare these verses with 1 Corinthians 11, looking at Christ as our Head. Is Jay P. Green's translation/interpretation not indeed a good one? I think that it is; what do you think? From the heart, Ray |

211 | Titus and Romans:comparable introduction | Rom 1:4 | Ray | 82439
Hi, I believe that Jesus baptized by the holy spirit [sic]. I believe that we should be filled with [the] holy spirit. Thus, I believe that the "spirit of holiness" of Romans 1:4 would be the most accurate rendering. I believe that the long sentence of Romans 1:1-7 in the Greek has pronouns of Deity that when totaled are divisible by three. I find that to be glorifing to the triune God and I praise Him in it. Now my question is this: Can this same situation of praise be accomplished by an accurate rendering of the long sentence of Titus 1:1-4? I have my own personal possible interpretation; what do you think? Can you find in this Greek sentence pronouns of Deity that total up to a number divisible by three? Would you want to try? Would you feel any need or desire to try? In other words, how far "off base" am I here? From the heart, Ray |

213 | Hold fast the Scriptures- then memorize? | NT general Archive 1 | Ray | 80814
Hi Biblebeliever, Is it more important to memorize the Scriptures or believe them? 1 Corinthians 15:2, KJ, "By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless he have believed in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:2, NKJ, "by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain." From the heart, Ray |

215 | Word of Truth or word of truth? (#78193) | John 17:14 | Ray | 80162
John 17:14-20. These verses contain three occurances of "truth" and three occurances of "word". How many of these occurances do you see as Deity rather than simply the word of God? From the heart, Ray |

216 | What do you think of this great mystery? | NT general Archive 1 | Ray | 79574
In comparing 1 Corinthians 6:17 and Epesians 5:29 tonight I thought about how believers are one spirit with Him and that we are members of His body. What other verses come to your mind in considering this thought of Christ's spiritual body and the church? From the heart, Ray |

217 | Spirit and/or spirit? | Acts 2:38 | Ray | 79422
Hi disciplerami, You have written that it (the indwelling spirit) is given to those who obey Him (Acts 5:32). Sniper in post #79351 has said, "...the indwelling Holy Spirit is received when a person is baptized." Can we talk about the spirit and the Spirit in relation to 1 Peter 3:18-4:6? How does "your good behavior in Christ" (1 Peter 3:16) relate to "it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3:15)? Perhaps we can start a new thread there? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
218 | Spirit of Jesus? His Spirit? | Mark 2:8 | Ray | 79165
What can we say about the Spirit of Christ or the Spirit of Jesus? I was comparing Mark 2:7,8 with 1 Corinthians 2:10,11. I was comparing the words but seeing also a contrast in Persons of the triune God. It seemed to make more sense to me to have a capital Spirit for Mark 2:8 when comparing the verses. Does anyone see what I am thinking? Any comments? From the heart, Ray |

219 | What manner of Man is this? | Mark 4:41 | Ray | 79149
Mark 4:41, NASB, "And they became very much afraid and said to one another, 'Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?'" Mark 4:41, KJ, "And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" God in the flesh was asleep in the boat, but they awoke Him. What manner of man is this then? I would interpret it rather, "What manner of Man is this". What do you think? Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, Jay P.Green, Sr, editor, reads thus: Mark 4:41, "And they feared a great fear and said to one another, Who then is this One, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?" From the heart, Ray |
