1623 | Can one be deceived that he is saved? | Matt 7:21 | stjohn | 186467
Hi I'm jumping in too. For me that change was more gradual, but I had a sincere desire for change. Also, a burning desire to learn the truth of God's word, and not to take someone else's word, but to check it out for myself, and letting the Spirit lead. Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. God bless. John |

1625 | Die unexposed to Jesus no redemption? | Eph 1:5 | stjohn | 186439
Hello Azure, That is very interesting. I guess I'm not a real thrill-seeker by worldly standards, because thats the kind of stuff that is thrilling to me, and really perks up my interest. You said, "God has used His own way to reveal Himself to different nations in the ancient time." that really got me to thinking. Then I remembered someone talking about the numerous times that we find in the ancient history of many cultures around the world, there is a story of a great flood. Now we know that these stories must have come from word of mouth and from the time of the actual flood, Noah's flood that is. But the world would of course explain it away, as just the universally connected Imagination of man, or some such nonsense like that. Anyway, I then remembered Something I learned from (Thru the Bible Radio) Dr. Mcgee was talking about that very same thing, and how through Noah's sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, the Gospel or at least parts of it were spread throughout the whole world. And, I'm pretty sure he even mentioned that same thing that you did about the chinese word for sacrifice, and, that the further the gospel got from its true source, the more perverted it got. Anyway, just a few things to chew on. Here are some scriptures that will show support for this view. Gen 8:20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. Gen 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. Gen 9:18 Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem and Ham and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan. Gen 9:19 These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated. Gen 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, by their nations; and out of these the nations were separated on the earth after the flood. 1 Pet 3:15-20 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong. For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; (in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.) Noah, according to 1Peter, must have been preaching the Gospel of salvation wile he was building the ark. See how the ancients could have known the Gospel of the Kinsmen redeemer, and the sacrifice of the Lamb? Thank's Azure. God bless. John |

1626 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 186425
Hi Cheri, Yes, Pretty much we are on the same page. I would like too say as well that I am impressed with your knowledge of Scripture, Coming from a charismatic background. And please, don't any one get me wrong, please know my heart in this, as I have fellowship with charismatic christians, and Love them just as much as I do all my brothers and sisters. But I have sometimes found that the real 'meat' of the scriptures are left out of their teaching, but not always. And not necessarily that this is inherently wrong, there is a time and season for all things. ok, having said that, I think it is important to really see the difference between the Church, and the nation Israel, as we will someday be God's priests, to and for them. God promised the 'land' to Abraham, not to the Church, and its ok I guess to see it as though we are spiritually grafted in with them as spiritual Israel if you please. but in actuality we are not the same. Israel will be given the Land, and forever, as God promised, God will make 'our' dwelling place the new Jerusalem. that is were the Church will live if you please. And I don't know how, but we will be able to come and go to minister to all the nations of the world during the millennial rain, after that comes another Judgment. I believe even during that time, even though Jesus will be King, and His law will rule, many will fall because of mans sin nature. But as always, there will still be a 'remnent' of the nation Israel. I hope we are doing ok so far. I'm not very good at typing I need a break. :-( I've been at it all day. :-( God bless John |

1627 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 186417
Cheri, That is true, but the remnant of Israel is still not the church, I wasn't sure if you are clear on that point. God has not rejected the remnant. Is that what you are saying? All that have come to know the one true God, and believe in His plan of salvation, and accept it, and are willing to repaint and turn to Him, are part of His family. We are grafted in but, The Church, and the nation Israel, are sort of like cousins, and we will be God's priests to minister to them. The Jew today, that is a believer in, and accepts Christ as their redeemer, is now a part of the Church, and no longer a part of the nation Israel. At least that is the way I see it. How are you doing with that? God bless. John P.S. How am I doing Doc? |

1630 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 186405
Hi Cheri, This may open quite a discussion. But I believe that as the Church, we have a little different relationship with God then does the nation Israel. Israel was rejected as God's Priests, and that priesthood, has been given now to His church. The promises He gave to Abraham are also different. Abraham was promised the land, and that ultimately will be the new earth, we will be God's priests, and live in the new Jerusalem, at least for the millennia. After that, all of God's kingdom will be our domain. i.e. the universe, or the new heavens. This would take quite a lot of time to go through all the Scripture on this. And, I may not be exactly accurate in all my understanding, but I believe I'm pretty close. God bless. John |

1634 | Because He lives! | Luke 24:24 | stjohn | 186383
Christmas is the day that we as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus the Christ. However, this day, can also be looked at as a birthday. We can see in it, the birthday of the Church, wherein is all our hope as born again Christians. 1 Cor 15:13 "But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied." But we who are in Christ, are not to be pitied, we have that hope, and it is a hope that we can take hold of and keep in our hearts. It is a hope that is beyond all hope, it is a hope that is real. This hope, is the very foundation of our faith. We can know, beyond all worldly knowledge, that Jesus is the Christ; and we can put all that we posses in Him. All our knowledge, all our emotions, all of our dreams, all of our strength, all of our very inner and outer self, and all that we will ever be, all that we are, is from to Him. Born again in the Spirit to life eternal, by the blood that was shed on the Cross of Christ for all the world, and for anyone, that will turn from their sins, and turn to Him, Jesus Christ, our Lord and saviour. Happy birthday everyone! God bless. John |

1635 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | stjohn | 186359
Hi Doc, I would agree with you, that Lot was not a man of careful deliberation or he would not have pitched his tent in the direction of sodom in the first place. I get a picture of him hearing the sound of their revelry and thinking hmm, I wonder what's going on down there. Hey Mrs. Lot, lets go see? |

Thanks Finder! Great to hear that you are deciding to study! 2 Tim 3:16 "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;" And don't worry about me being worried about you, I'm not really worried, just concerned for a brother. Interestingly the word we use for worry, is from the german, and the root is a word that means to choke, and man it'll really choke the life out of ya, if we let it. I really just wanted to let you know that you are not the lone ranger, I think many have questions like yours, It may be healthy for some to question, it tends to draw you to the Word, and Jesus didn't condemn Thomas for questioning. Here is another verse that helps me. Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Oh; and I was not talking about 'me' swinging on that rope, my days os swinging are long gone my brother. :-) peace to you my friend, I pray that you are greatly blessed in your studies. God bless. John |

1638 | Judgment - clarification requested | Is 14:12 | stjohn | 186307
Dear sister Cheri, I love your sense of humor! :-) I am chuckling as I write this. But we must be careful, the Lockman foundation does not encourage this, as some may not understand, and I suppose I can see their point. Although, personally, I would like to us all lighten up a little, and share a laugh once in a wile. Its good for the soul! Perhaps we can share a joke or two in emails? Clean ones of course! :-) Your Brother in Christ. John |

1639 | Destiny of created beings | Is 14:12 | stjohn | 186303
Dear Brother Finder, Thanks for responding in such a respectful way, to what I might consider a frank, but maybe not so kind answer to your questions. It seemed as though you didn't like the way God was doing things. Maybe not, Well, may I say that I have had the same kind of questions myself, maybe yours are coming from a different angle, but I have had similar questions, and maybe even anguished over them a little. But, perhaps not to the extent that you are. I am sorry for the pain that your in. But my friend, may I say, that as long as you are so troubled by these things, that you are not going to be of much service to God. May I ask, are you grateful for your salvation? If you are then dwell on this, dwell on the Cross my brother. Don't let satin get in the way of the sweet fellowship you can truly have with Jesus. My brother, you are the one that is allowing this to happen, not God. This is a true statement, God doesn't go anywhere, if you don't feel God's presence in your life, then go to Him, He is waiting for you, to return to Him. I pray that you can find the peace that I have found, but brother, It comes with a price. If I were you my friend I would take Doc's advice and study God's word. and, I know this sounds easy, and I know sometimes it's not, but brother, you need to knock it off, and get down to the business of serving your God, and don't let satin, or anyone else get in the way. And, I have spent a good deal of time on my face my friend, I'm not boasting in it, just letting you know, sometimes, thats what it takes to get through some of the tough times. May God give you peace my brother. God bless. John |

1640 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | stjohn | 186276
Hello Duolos, A warm welcome to you brother! I say amen to what you have written, and agree whole heartedly. We are indeed all sinners. The only difference with us followers of Christ and the rest of the world, is we know and accept the the fact, and trust in Him to save us. Amen! I hope to have further communications with you, as you seem to have a very good understanding of just who you are. I sure know who I am, poor, wretched, and naked before God, and in need of a saviour. And we've got a wonderful saviour in Jesus, amen? God bless. John |
