Greetings, I would appreciate it if you would speed up the process of taking the rain. Peopel drive in rain here like southeners drive in the snow - without the common sence God gave them! Last storm they tell me that there were over 300 wrecks! And by the way - since you agreed to take the rain would you mind taking the twisters too? ;o) prayon

165 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144889
Greetings Ed, np using my post - I don't mind. Your statement "Sure people get hurt, and that is a shame but to use it as excuse to justify being out of relationship with God is without support" I don't agree with you 100 percent - 90 percent yes but not 100 percent. I know of someone who loved church - who was raised in the church and loved God. They went to a church and got extremely hurt and offended by the pastor. This pastor (a male) who claimed to be so righteous but yet made a pass at the person I know who is also a male. He felt so violated by this pastor that he did not trust any pastor anymore - which is a shame. It has taken years for this person to go back to church but the whole time he kept up his relationship with God by prayer, Christian music and occationally a bible study that was not a church along with associating with other Christians. It is a horrible fact but there are a few rotten pastors heading churches that are giving most pastors a very bad image. Agape, prayon |

166 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144888
Greetings EdB, Hank and Searcher sorta said the same thing you did - please read my replies to them. I agree that forgiveness was available to them from God although I have a hunch that it was not available from the church. The "church had not pray for this couple and noone from the church came to invite the young lady to church". How do you welcome someone in the church when you don't even invite them to come? prayon |

167 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144887
The thing is that we are to condemn the sin - not the sinner. I think that it is possible to judge that a person is sinning and approach them in a loving manner and still not condemn the person at the same time. Too many times we judge the person as being evil and unworthy because of the sin that they are doing or in. That is why so many people refuse to go to church, etc. In confronting the person I think that it is very important to remember that God loves the person and Jesus gave His life for this person. What else is important to remember is that Satan is a deceiver and this person is being deceived by Satan into believing that he is not commiting a sin. The couple was definitely in the wrong and was living in sin without a doubt. I just have a problem with the way they approached him (read my reply to Hank). prayon |

168 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144886
Hi Hank - In reading the scenario I think the church was in the wrong. First, it says the "church had a vote and decided that they had to move". Why did it take the church to vote? The preacher should of dealt with the situation. He knew about the situation, Shouldn't he of gone to see both of them on his own without the church forcing him (and to me that seems like what happened) and at least tried to council them instead of saying that their "sin was the number one sin greater even than murder." Where does the bible even say this? Second - "The church did not pray for this couple" - why not? That should of been one of the first things they did - before even contacting him. Third - "no one from the church came to invite the young lady to church". Why not? Possibly because they felt she was not worth it? The preacher did ask the young man to come back to church "but he no longer feels welcome". Why not? Something must of made him feel that way. I just thank God that he didn't do like some would and leave the church but instead found a church that he felt comfortable in. I am not saying that the couple were right - they weren't. Pure and simple they were living in sin. prayon By the way would you please call the rain back over to your side of the country? It is getting ridiculous over here..... |

170 | What do you think? | Luke 6:42 | prayon | 144864
Greetings, What you say is very sad. Too many of God's churches judge others which is exactly what Jesus told us not to do. Many do it because of what their appearance looks like, some for other reasons. It sounds as if this is what happened at this church. For whatever reason the church judged this man and found him unworthy of going to their church. The reason he is welcome in another church is because the newer church is not judging him. We are told to hate the sin but love the sinner. Because many churches don't too many people are "run out of church" and never return because of the past experience, thus keeping them out of church and away from a relationship with God. Hope this helps. prayon |

171 | How could Esau forgive Jacob? | Gen 33:4 | prayon | 144859
Greetings searcher, The bible does not say specifically that Esau forgave Jacob but in Gen 33:10 it does say that Jacob told Esau I've seen your face as if I were seeing the face of God, and yet you welcomed me so warmly." If there were unforgiveness he could not of see the "face of God" in his face. prayon
172 | How could Esau forgive Jacob? | Gen 33:4 | prayon | 144858
Greetings and welcome to the forum! The bible does not say specifically but it does tell us that when Jacob looked into Esau's face he said " I've seen your face as if I were seeing the face of God, and yet you welcomed me so warmly. That indeed shows us that Esau forgave Jacob. There could of been a couple reasons. It could of been because of Jacob's prayers or it could of been because of God changing the hearts of the brothers. prayon
173 | Any insight on the life of Jeremiah? | Jeremiah | prayon | 144855
Greetings and welcome to the forum! Jeremiah did indeed have a great calling on his life! He is one of the most colorful figures in Hebrew history. More isknown about his personality and character than any other OT prophet. Jeremiah was the son of Hilkiah, the priest, from Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. He heard the call on his life when he was between jut 14-20. Jeremiah, a man of prayer, prophesied for up to 40 years when he died in Egypt about 2 years after the fall of Jerusalem to the Chaldeans in 586 BC. He was known as the "weeping prophet". He is also known as the prophet of the last hour before the destruction of Judah. He preached the coming judgment and counseled Judah to repen and submit to Babylon to remain in the land of Judah. He had such a compassion for his people that it moved him to tears. Being very young when called to the prophetic office, he endeavored to excuse himself on account of his youth and incapacity for the work; but, being overruled by the Divine authority, he undertook the task, and performed it with matchless zeal and fidelity in the midst of a most crooked and perverse people, by whom he was continually persecuted, and whom he boldly reproved, often at the hazard of his life. During his life as a prophet he was threatened, tried for his life, put in stocks, forced to flee from Jehoiakim, publicly humiliated by a false prophet and thrown into a pit. 176 | God's expectations of us | Josh 22:5 | prayon | 144794
Greetings bonikow, Josh 22:5 gives us the answer: "But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. and again in 1Jo 3:23-24 "This is his commandment: to believe in his Son, the one named Jesus Christ, and to love each other as he commanded us. Those who obey Christ's commandments live in God, and God lives in them. We know that he lives in us because he has given us the Spirit." In return if we obey His commandments what we can expect from God is for Him to be our: refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psa 46:1); healer (Psa 30:2, Is 54:5b); protector (Ps 5:11, Mal 3:11); healer (Jer 30:17); refuge (Is 26:3, Psa 9:9, 34:4); savior (Rom 6:23) strength (Psa 46:1,18:2-3) Hope this helps. prayon |
