GJH, God knew a long time ago that you would be going through this discouragement. That's why you have His word. He tells you over and over throughout the bible that He loves you. Jesus gave His life for you. What greater sign of His love could He give you? Read His words to you. Personalize them. - For God so loved ME that He gave his only son that when I believe in Him I will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Fear not: For He has redeemed ME, He has called ME by name; I are His. When I pass through the waters, He will be with ME; and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm ME; when I walk through fire I shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume ME. For He is the Lord MY God. (Isa 43:1-2) ...for He has said, He will never leave ME nor forsake ME...The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me. (Heb 13:5) I am confident of this: that the one who began a good work in Me will bring it to completion! (Phil 1:6) Therefore if I be in Christ I am new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new (2Cor 5:17) He will keep ME in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him (Isa 26:3) I trust the Lord with all MY heart and will not lean not to MY own understanding. In all MY ways I will acknowledge Him and He shall direct MY paths. (Prov 3:5-6) I cast MY burden on the Lord and He will sustain ME; He will never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psa 55:22) Neither death nor life nor angels, nor pricipalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, not any other creaature, shall be able to separate ME from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 8:38,39) The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psa 27:1) All the reassurance you need is in the book that He wrote for YOU! prayon |

163 | What animals are okay to eat? | Mark 7:15 | prayon | 61171
Greetings wolfrose, Acts 10 verse 10 tells us that Paul became very hungry while he was praying. He then fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet descend to earth. In this sheet were all types of 4 footed animals (both clean and unclean) of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. A voice came to him and it said: "Rise Peter, kill and eat". Peter at first refused. To him the command seemed all wrong. But then a voice came down and said "What God has cleansed you must not call common". God had previously set these dietary restrictions to keep the Israelites seperate from their idolatrous neighbors. The restrictions made it difficult for Jews to eat with Gentiles without risking defilement. This helped to keep the Jews and idolotrous Gentiles seperate. The new command abolished the OT dietary restrictions. In doing this God also made unity in the church between the Jews and the Gentiles. The above releases us from Lev 11 dietary restrictions. prayon
164 | Can I come home again, or apostate? | Luke 15:24 | prayon | 61020
Greetings Pemican, You keep referring to Paul as the writer of Hebrews. Although it is a possibility that Paul did write Hebrews it is doubtful. The epistle itself does not support this claim. The style, vocabulary, and literary characteristics differ from the other books that Paul wrote. In addition, the writer of Hebrews includes himself among those who had received confirmation of Christ's message from others (2:3). Paul states in Galations 1:12 that he received his confirmation directly from God and not from men. Luke is also a possibility, however, Hebrews does not follow his style either. Other possibilities include Barnabas, Silas, Apollos, Phillip, Pricilla, Aquilla, and Clement of Rome. Whoever it was does refer to Timothy as "brother". prayon

166 | 7 years of tribulation? | Matt 24:29 | prayon | 60953
Greetings inheavenseyes, just a little more on the 7 years for you. As everyone said the 7 years of tribulation has not come yet. Daniel 9:27 tells us that the tribultion will begin when the Roman Antichrist signs a treaty with the Jews to rebuild their temple and resume animal sacrifices. During this time the antichrist will provide a pseudo-peace. Halfway through the 7 years the antichrist will break this covenant by causing an abomination against the Jewish people. The desecration will ruin what the Jews regard as sacred, the temple. (see also Matt 24:15). During the first 1260 days or 3 1/2 years the two witnesses (believed to be Moses and Elijah) will be present. They will identify the antichrist for who he is. The antichrist will have the two witnesses killed and they will lay dead in the street for 3 days and then be raised from the dead. During the 2nd half of the tribulation the antichrist will have supernatural powers. During this time the antichrist will raise up a conspirator. The conspirator will be even more ruthless because he will enslave the minds and souls of men. It is believed that this person will be a religious specialist. prayon |

171 | Church Building or Not | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 60219
shortstop, I can see your points about the need to have access to the building for different functions. I would wonder why your pastor stays in the high school rather than build or rent another building. However, we must remember that everything works together for the good of God. We must remember that He has a reason for your being in the high school building. It is possible that because of your being in the high school with all your praise and worship and praying that there are demons that have been removed from the school. God has been invited into that building and when God is invited in it always makes a difference. Sounds like why you are there is one of those "Ahh So" questions to ask when you get to heaven (Ahh so that's why we were there.....)prayon

Greetings John, How true! Do you know what really had an effect on me when it cam to wanting to stay out of hell? A book I read about 6 or 7 years ago but it is still having an impact on me and probably always will. It's called "A Divine Revelation of Hell" by Mary Baxter. Now I know that it is probably all fiction but there is always that .01 percent chance it is not....and if it is not it is worse than I ever imagined it could be. I have given the book to a few people and it had the same effect on them. prayon

176 | LEFT BEHIND? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 60109
AMEN!!!!! Someone needed to do something to give sight to the blind. I, too, think it is OK to scare the daylights out of an unbeliever. Even a believer. The unbeliever, hopefully, will be drawn into opening the bible. And hopefully will be drawn into going to church. The one thing that scares me is that there are so many preachers out there who make light of the end times or refuse to discuss it for fear of stepping on someone's toes. Then the unbeliever could end up right back where they started - thinking there is nothing to worry about. As for the believer, if it scares them too, I say Good! Hopefully, it scares them into a closer relationship with God. And as far as I am concerned we can never be close enough. prayon |

Greetings Hank! There are definitly 10. I have read them all and have a copy of them. if you look at my first reply I listed the names. There may be 18 in the kids series, I am not sure how many have been written for them. By the way, tell Dottie that Walmart has the hard back copy for 14.97. That's I usually get mine. Have a blessed day! By the way it looks like the finances are going to come through for my prayer request about the tuition! Agape, Susan

Hello Hank! Sometimes I think we are really more foolish and idolatrous today than they were back then. Don't we do the same things they did back then - worship the same things, sometimes in the same ways? Plus we have added a few new ones! agape, prayon
179 | "women keep silent in the churches" | 1 Cor 14:34 | prayon | 58989

180 | "women keep silent in the churches" | 1 Cor 14:34 | prayon | 58830
From Scribes comment: "it seems that there is just as much here to say a man cannot speak either. For twice the pronoun "He" is told to keep silent in the church and only once it says a woman should keep silent." ...Your comments? In the Corithian church the men were seated at the front and the women were way in the back. There were no sound systems like they have today, so the apostle would speak, and the women would yell up to their husbands, "What did he say?" This was disrupting the meeting, so Paul instructed for the men to relay the information to the women at home. Galatians 3:28 makes it clear that "in Christ" there is neither male nor female. So this must mean then that some of the people "in Christ" are not allowed to teach others about Him when God tells us specifically in Joel 2:28 that in the end times He "will pour out His Spirit on ALL flesh; your sons and your daughters will prophecy.....Even on the male and female slaves in those days, will I pour out my spirit". So I must assume that some of those that God pours out His spirit on must remain quiet? Luke 2:36 speaks of a prophetess named Anna. One role of a prophet is to speak into the lives of other believers. It is doubtful that the apostle Paul would be saying to silence Anna, or other female believers who had something to contribute. (A previous contribution to the forum.) If it truly was fact that women were not supposed to preach and teach I wonder how many of our brothers and sisters would still be lost in sin.......God can and will use all people in all places. Your comments? prayon |
