161 | Last Days | Matt 24:36 | justme | 226762
Doc: With several of these "loonies" coming out with their predictions, and it appears some actually are ignorant to swallow their false predictions, is this when Scripture says many will be deceived? I doubt we could call the deceived the "elect". I have not heard of any who say they are Christ, have you? justme |

162 | More accurate version of a verse | Ps 9:16 | justme | 226662
skybender: Actually the NASB is the better translation. I would add remember that thye NIV is a thought for thought version, and the old KJV uses words and syntext we would not use that way today. The NIV is wrtten on a 6th to 8th grade reading level, whereas the KJV is on a 12th grade reading level. I have never read what reading level the NASB is, but I would estimate about 10th grade. The problem is we have not educated and trained students to read much beyond the grade they were last in. That's my opinion, not a fact. However I was a rather poor reader when I was a child, and the KJV was all I knew until I was an adult. That's the way it was in the "olden days". justme |

163 | Jesus made or chose to go to the cross? | Matt 26:39 | justme | 226625
lionheart: You answered with wisdom. I am amazed at how many very short questions are asked lately. I have wondered is it was school work. Unless we seek to make the answers cause some research of their own to some degree, depending on the sutation, we are not really teaching needed skills. Blessings. justme |

164 | CBN: neardeath to hell and back? ?? | Heb 9:27 | justme | 226576
BradK: Good answer. I watched the programs myself. Those who shared their "death" experiences for the most part really felt what they experienced was reality for them. Some gave testimony of how this experience changed their life. One man so changed his life after experiencing what he thought was "hell", he surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord. He became a pastor because he wanted no one else to go to hell where he claimed to have seen. Personally, I find these testimonies subject to question. No matter how much is said to bring these people into question, it gets down to how has this experience changed the persons life to become closer to the Lord. Near death experiences are not new, and there is no one who has not undergone such an experience to fully explain or understand how this happens. Personally in the NT Joseph was changed to accept and marry Mary who was pregnant with Jesus, and was told to do so in a dream. Paul was changed by a blinding light and Jesus speaking to him, which no one else heard. I totally believe what Scripture says about Joseph and Paul. I myself have had God speak to me, not in words we can hear, but in the very soul of my heart. This experience has had a profound lasting change in my life and that was thirty five years ago. The Holy spirit speaks to us today by the reading of the Word of God, perhaps in dreams, from the preaching of His Word, and life experiences. I have no idea if all the people on the 700 Club telecasts were true. I had some doubt on some, and others i believed the testimonies to be true. If God was glorified and the person did not contradict Scripture I believed their testimony. justme |

165 | living conditions while married | Prov 25:24 | justme | 226575
godslilchild: 1 Corinthians 7:5 "Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control." NIV. A married couple not living together by choice is not Biblical and sinful. Even couples that have to separate because of work transfers are taking a huge risk. We live in a time that a wedding ring means nothing to those on the prowl for "sexual recreation". If there is no way to avoid being separated, like military service, then each must be celibate until they come back together. Too often temptation comes when we least expect it. No one is exempt from temptation. Scripture says God will provide a way of escape from temptation. Trust in marriage is vital and needs protection at all cost. Being separated is a very serious risk and no marriage can exist while living apart by choice because you can't get along. justme |

167 | Did God the Father create Jesus | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 226027
Doc: The other night we watched a program that told about a group that came after the Nicene Creed. The program said this later group clarified more specifically something about the Trinity. Are you aware of this group? We are enjoying the 24 inches of white heavenly snow. This is our first blizzard, and hope it's our last too. We were snowed in for four days. Many are still stranded and need prayer, especially the elderly. The richest of blessings of God dear brother. justme |

173 | How often is the NASB Updated, and why? | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 225185
Makainos: The NASB is beyond any doubt my favorite Bible. The older NASB was too close to the KJV. However I did use the 1977 in Bible College and our Church, North Phoenix Baptist Church, had the NASB Open Bibles in Genuine Leather, at the church book store for actual cost. I wish the Open Bible in the 1995 version were made. Blessings. justme |

174 | Saturday a day of worship? | Col 2:16 | justme | 225182
Makarios. In the Jewish Jesus program, this converted Rabbi still wares the full garb and feels that to win other Jews to Jesus he is convicted to worship on Saturday. This makes me feel uneasy, much like SDA. I personally agree with your opinion. Blessings. justme |

175 | why do you disagree | Acts 7:59 | justme | 225172
Steve. I think we make a huge mistake to insist a person repeats a prayer that we lead them in. That prayer is not really coming from their heart. How many have repeated a prayer, then go out never doing anything beyond that point. Tood Friel of Wreched TV and radio shares Scripture and tells how one is to be saved, and then tells the person to please carefully thing about what what he has shared, then leaves. I personally think more asking for questions is important, or asking them is they have questions. It seems as if we are not allowing the Holy Spirit to complete the work that He is apointed to do. Is it not the responsible for convicting and leading. Clearly the unforgivable sin is rejecting the Holy Spirit's pleading to surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord. There is equal responsibility to train this new believer in Scriptures and stimulate growth. Perhaps, this is why there are so many baby Christians who still are nursing on milk. Blessings. justme |

176 | Heaven, seconds after death? | Acts 7:59 | justme | 225171
Mr. Kenney: I an the one who started this thread. I am pleased that so many have joined in. Mya I bring to your attention that whenever the Scripture says to believe and be baptised, Belief is always listed first. If baptism was requried as equal to believing then there would have been some verses placing equality with the two. The thief on the cross would have been unable to enter Paradise. I clearl see we are saved by Grace, through faith, plus nothing. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. A wery well known verse is John 3:16. The clear message is belief in Jesus Christ. Baptism is never mentioned. I do not want to imply the not being baptised is acceptable. As I understand Jesus teachings, we are to follow His instructions, as an example He was baptised, and genuine believers will not refuse to be baptised. This does not mean baptism is required for Salvation, but rather a outward expression of testifing before other believers you are following the way of Jesus Christ. To add anything more in surrendering to Jesus Christ confessing our sins and asking Jesus to save us, would be a matter of works. We are saved by Jesus alone, by Grace alone, by Faith alone. I am aware there are those who add baptism to be saved, But this is a very serious error. I sincerely hope you will pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show what the Holy Scripture teaches about baptism. justme |

Findrichard: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! There are many who believe being ready is just that..."being ready". Jesus said every day has a full share of problems. That's a justme paraphrase. I know surffering first hand. Romans 8:29 teaches me suffering is not without a positive side. I am learning to become more like Jesus. I will never come close to true "Christ likeness". However Jesus allowes me to have a little taste of being somewhat like HIM. I attempt to live my life like it may well be my last, and hope I improve in understanding what ready is. I never want to give the impression that my brothers and sisters in Christ, who believe, we as the Bride of Christ, won't suffer, are to belittled. Jesus said the world will know us by our love for each other. For me that is most important of all, according to Jesus. Glad to have you in the forum! Blessings. justme |
