162 | explain seven spirits of God | Rev 5:6 | lionheart | 199323
whippie, Take a look at Ephesians 4:4-6. This will help when trying to understand passages like Rev 5:6. This particular passage can be confusing if not taken in light of already established scriptures. I'm not into numerology but there are certain numbers that do carry some significance, seven being one of them. Seven is used when refering to Godly or spiritual perfection or completeness. There are translations where Rev 9:5 is rendered sevenfold spirit of God. This isn't my strongest area of knowledge but I hope it helps. In Him, lionheart |

Sean, Good day. I don't know about the history of this sort of stuff in the bible but there are a number of scriptures that expressly speak out against this kind of thing. Being that this is a bible study forum this may not be the place to conduct the kind of research you are conducting. If you have a bible do a study on witchcraft and sorcery and see what God says about these kind of things. In Him, lionheart |

170 | Christiant without relationship | Gen 2:18 | lionheart | 198339
Hadassah-ruth, Good day to you. The first thing I want encourage you with is first and most importantly is to keep God first in your life. (Matt 6:33) Secondly is what evidence is there that he is saved. Growing up in church doesn't make one a christian. So the most important thing is his salvation and your walk with God. Read Romans chapter fourteen. Paul does a superb job in dealing with things of the conscience. Read this and give it allot of consideration. Give him a bible if he doesn't have one. Get him with individuals you know are strong in the faith. Yes you both grow in the faith, but that presumes that you are both in the faith. If he's not saved then you have a choice that you gotta make. Keep 2 Corinthians 6:14 in mind as you take all this into consideration. In Him, lionheart |

Remember always that it's Christ in you Colossians 1:27 and never forget who God says you are. 1 John 3:1-3. No one can ever take that from you. In Him, lionheart |

173 | Do we sleep or do we immediately go to h | 1 Thess 4:16 | lionheart | 197639
keke, Good day to you. Read this verse in context with 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. When we die what we are, that which God gave us goes back to him. When Jesus comes back he will come for those (believers) who are still alive at the time as well as those who have died. It may not make sense to us, but it's God's plan and thier isn't a better one. One of main things we gotta understand through all of this is that God is soverign. As Romans 8:28 says all things work for the good of those who love God. So love God and get ready for the most incredible ride you will ever have. It's gonna be a Doosi. In Him, lionheart |

174 | disconnect from friends and family | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 197604
nae-nae 04, What Mark 9:43-45 is showing here is what our attitude twards our sin should be. How do you deal with your sin? It's easy to place blame on others. But you gotta ask yourself where does it start? Look at James 1:15-13 Usually when we are talking about our sin and the things that may influence it, It starts with us. In Him, lionheart |

175 | Scriptural foundation | NT general | lionheart | 197602
godsavs, Should have done this the first time. Take a look at John 15:13 I believe this verse says allot about where our hearts have gotta be. Jesus life was the perfect example of this and I assure you this went way beyond him going to the cross. His entire life exemplified this verse. This can be a bedrock scripture for all of us. When we reach out to the lost and to each other with this attitude of heart we will see God move. In Him, lionheart |

176 | Discipline vs. torment | Heb 12:7 | lionheart | 197575
LJ777, Read through Hebrew 12:1-13. As a matter of fact go through and read the entire chapter. God will brin, use or allow alott of things to draw us closer to him, to mold our character and even bring us back when we are not walking in fellowship with him. When we are not dealing with our sin we can be leaving ourselfs open to some pretty nasty stuff. Even with this stuff God will use to get our attention. 2 Timothy 3 tells us that as we strive to be gogly men and women of God we'll deal with persecution. This too God will us for our benifit and His glory. Take Romans 8:28 to heart. God works all things to the good. Just keep loving him and the people he puts in your life! In Him. lionheart |

nae-nae 04, Good day to you. Often when we are Studying out a single passage of scripture it helps immensely if we will read that passage of scripture and the context within which it was written. 178 | Feed the hungry before sharing the Word | NT general | lionheart | 197567
godsavs, In principle this can be sound, but in many cases not doable and there will betimes we can do that. Take a look at the Gospels and what Jesus did when he was reaching out to people.Take a look at the parable of the good Samaritan. It's a matter of heart. Jesus said it so well whwen he said- Greater love has no man than he lay down his life for a friend. This goes way beyond just dieing for someone it also speaks to our heart in serving and sacrifice for people. When folks see that you are genuinely concerned for them and not just trying to push religion then you will see fruit. It's not necessarily what we are saying but what we do that will turn the tables and what we do can and does reflect our walk with God. In Him, lionheart |

180 | why join army? | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 197054
ssongsu, Welcome to the forum. I may be a bit partial on this subject being a veteran of 16 years of military service. You bring up a subject that comes up often in the Christian community and can be very contentious and emotional. We can be very be subjective or we can with solid bible study can find answers that will put allot of our questions to rest. 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17 and Romans 15:4 will help keep us on solid ground when they are heeded and properly applied. None the less you ask a valid question. I think a simple word study can give you some answers. Many times in the Old Testament the word kill is used in relationship to murder. This is the Hebrew word mut which is used throughout the Old Testament. Then you have the Greek word diacheizo is used in relationship to murder. Acts 5:30. All murder is killing but not all killing is murder. David was a military man yet the bible says he was a man after God's own heart. Know contradiction just a statement by God of who David was and this was in spite of all his sin. If we will but keep things within biblical context it all makes much more sense to us. In Him, lionheart |
