161 | What's Paul describing in Rom.7:13-25? | Rom 7:15 | Shelly | 4992
(7:15). Paul found himself sinning in ways that weren't even attractive to him. (3) Becoming a Christian does not stamp out all sin and temptation from a person's life (7:22-25). Being born again takes a moment of faith, but becoming like Christ is a lifelong process. |

162 | Destroy Jesus? Why? | Luke 19:47 | Shelly | 3908
My NIV Life Application notes: Luke 19:47 - Who were the "leaders among the people"? This group probably included wealthy leaders in politics, commerce, and law. They had several reasons for wanting to get rid of Jesus. He had damaged business in the temple by driving the merchants out. In addition, he was preaching against injustice, and his teachings often favored the poor over the rich. Further, his great popularity was in danger of attracting Rome's attention, and the leaders of Israel wanted as little as possible to do with Rome. |

163 | Why did Judas betray Jesus? | Matt 26:15 | Shelly | 3907
My Bible notes say: Mat 26:15 Matthew alone records the exact amount of money Judas accepted to betray Jesus--30 silver coins, the price of a slave (Exodus 21:32). The religious leaders had planned to wait until after the Passover to take Jesus, but with Judas's unexpected offer, they accelerated their plans. |

167 | Total Chapters and Verses in Bible | Ps 118:8 | Shelly | 3029
I received this e-mail last September - don't know if it's accurate, but thought you might be interested. 1) Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the whole entire bible. 2) Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the bible. 3) Psalm 119, after 118 is the longest chapter in the bible. 4) The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118. 5) If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters. 6) 1188 or Psalm 118 verse 8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible. Should the central verse not have a fairly important message? "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." Psalm 118:8 Is this central verse not also the central theme of the entire Bible? |

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Matthew 19:5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? Mark 10:8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. Ephes. 5:31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." |

172 | Where did Easter get its name? | NT general Archive 1 | Shelly | 1669
March 20th is the first day of spring – or, as astronomers would have it, the vernal equinox. "Equinox" means, literally, "equal night." As the tilt of the earth's axis changes throughout the year, there are two points in time when day and night are of equal length: the spring and autumnal equinoxes. This fact has been recognized for thousands of years and has given rise to a considerable body of springtime folklore. The season has also been conceived throughout human history as a time of organic and spiritual rebirth, following the "dying of the year" in winter. The ancient Germanic festival of Ostara in honor of the goddess Eostre (English, Eastre) celebrated the cyclical return of light and life with fertility rituals and symbols, some of which still survive in the modern observance of Easter. |
