1601 | whats hateful bird in rev. 18:2 | Rev 18:2 | BradK | 235093
Hello mountionmam, The ESV reads, "...a haunt for every unclean bird," The YLT reads, "... a hold of every unclean and hateful bird" Keep in mind Revelation is a prophetic book and contains much imagery. We have an angel announcing the fall of Babylon. With a cursory reading, it doesn't appear any specific birds are being referred to (also see 19:17, 21). The Bible Knowledge Commentary offer this note: "What is pictured here is a large prosperous city, the center of political and economic life. The judgment of God makes it a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. This false religion is like a drug that drives men to madness. While it brought riches to merchants, it is now doomed for destruction." I hope this helps, BradK |

1604 | Do they who reign live 900 years? | Rev 20:1 | BradK | 224869
Hello sonofmom, I'm unfamiliar with "those who would be reigning with Christ were to be alive for 900 years-plus",(?) Are we talking about the millennium as - The period of 1,000 years referred to in Revelation chapter 20, where Satan is bound and believers reign with Jesus Christ? As Tyndale bible Dictionary notes: "The idea of a thousand-year reign may also be supported by passages such as Acts 3:19–21 and 1 Corinthians 15:23–26, which speak of a future restoration and reign of Christ." As far as I'm aware, the doctrine of this believers reign with Christ is only explicitly taught in Revelation! My cursory review and check in Isaiah finds no such references? BradK |

1605 | Why is the devil released after 1,000 yr | Rev 20:7 | BradK | 121985
LIVERIGHT, In my understanding, scripture doesn't explicitly tell us why satan is released in Revelation 20:7. However, we can be thankful that his triumph is short-lived! As to your reference to isaiah 14:12,God allowed satan to be "the god of this world" to serve His purpose. There is some explanation in verses 13-23. I believe it to be for His glory ultimately. Eccl.3:21 tells in regards to animals, "Who knows that the breath of man ascends upward and the breath of the beast descends downward to the earth?" Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1606 | How can there be 1000 yrs of reign? | Rev 20:7 | BradK | 122026
Aspilos, Scripture actually says this very thing. If you haven't, read Rev. 19-20. The order you see is this: 1. Chap. 19:11- the Second Coming of Christ; 2. Chap. 20:1-3- Satan is bound 1,000 Years; 3. 20:4-6- Saints Reign 1,000 Years; 4. 20:7-9- Satan Is released and Leads Rebellion; 5. 20:10- Satan is Cast into the Lake of Fire; 6. 20:11-15- The Great White Throne Judgment; 7. Chap. 21- A New Heaven and Earth Are Created I hope this helps, BradK |

1607 | satan live sin go? | Rev 20:10 | BradK | 193629
Hello Grace460, This is a good question- and deep subject, but let me be succinct. God allows satan to live because it is His purpose to do so (Eph. 1:11). Further, He receives glory by so doing. If you read Rev. 20, you'll see the ultimate demise of satan and sin. I hope this helps. BradK |

1610 | why a new heaven and new Earth | Rev 21:1 | BradK | 170854
Dear cowboy, Your question revolves around Rev. 21. The answer lies in verse 5: "And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He *said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." Basically, because God declared it in His revelation to John. BradK |

1611 | what does and God Himself mean | Rev 21:3 | BradK | 152931
Hi Sam Welcome to the Forum! The Commentary Critical offers this: "dwell with them—literally, “tabernacle with them”; the same Greek word as is used of the divine Son “tabernacling among us.” Then He was in the weakness of the flesh: but at the new creation of heaven and earth He shall tabernacle among us in the glory of His manifested Godhead (Rev 22:4)." A.T. Robertson has this insight: "And He shall dwell with them...used of the Incarnate Christ on earth by John (1:14), now a blessed reality of the Father. The metaphor stands for the Shekinah Glory of God in the old tabernacle (7:15; 13:6; 15:5), the true tabernacle of which it was a picture (Heb. 8:2; 9:11). God is now Immanuel in fact, as was true of Christ (Matt. 1:23)." I hope this helps, BradK |

1612 | What is the Thousand year rule and Why | Rev 21:3 | BradK | 168209
Dear Santee01, Here is what the Prophecy Knowledge Handbook has to say: The Binding of Satan Revelation 20:1–3. John recorded what he saw concerning the binding of Satan, “And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time” (vv. 1–3). John saw an angel who had the key to the Abyss, the natural home of Satan and the fallen angels. As he watched, he saw the dragon, or Satan, bound with a great chain, thrown into the Abyss, and the opening was sealed and locked with the statement that it will not be opened until 1,000 years later. While he could see that Satan was being bound and cast into the Abyss with the obvious point being that Satan will be unable to be active any longer, in addition to what he saw he heard the interpretation that this binding of Satan could last 1,000 years and the purpose was to prevent Satan from deceiving the nations. Inasmuch as the revelation of the duration is a matter of direct divine revelation which John was told, the 1,000 years must be also taken as a literal figure because it was revealed by God as the duration of this event. If God were in any way to try to describe the literal binding of Satan and his being inactive for 1,000 years, He could not have done it in any more graphic or clear way than He has done in these three verses. The events of verses 1–3 are clearly chronological in order and in total support of the premillennial interpretation. The passage makes clear that Satan is not simply restricted, as some would teach, but he is totally inactive in the Millennium. By contrast, the New Testament teaches that Satan is still very much alive and well in the present age. In Acts 5:3 Ananias and Sapphira were declared to be filled with Satan and motivated by him in lying about their sale of property. In 2 Corinthians 4:3–4 the statement is made that Satan was very active in blinding the eyes of those who hear the Gospel so that they will not see it and understand it. In 11:14 Satan was declared to be an angel of light, appearing in religious guise, deceiving the church through false teaching. According to Ephesians 2:2, the unsaved are working in the power of Satan. In 1 Thessalonians 2:18 Satan was revealed to have hindered Paul in his desire to come to the Thessalonians. In 2 Timothy 2:26 unsaved people were declared to be taken captive and can only be saved by the grace of God. The most decisive text is in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” These passages teach dramatically that Satan is not bound in the present age, and though he is somewhat restricted by God, as in the case of Job, Christians can depend on God’s protecting power. Satan is, nevertheless, very active in the world and a leader in all its rebellion against God. The 1,000 years will follow the Second Coming. [Walvoord, John F. The Prophecy Knowledge Handbook.] I trust that this will help towards answering your question. BradK |

punkiedo, Revelation 21:4 seems to indicate a very clear "no" to your question. "and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hello humility, In the Greek alphabet, Alpha was the first letter, Omega the last! The complete verse itself answers your question: "Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost." (NASB) It is simply Christ claiming His eternality. I hope this helps, BradK |

1615 | Healing Leaves in Heaven? | Rev 22:2 | BradK | 214639
Hello unction, That's a good question- and one for which there's some variance of views. "...and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." (NASB) The Commentary Critical observes, "leaves … for … healing — (Ezek. 47:9, 12). The leaves shall be the health-giving preventive securing the redeemed against, not healing them of, sicknesses, while “the fruit shall be for meat.” In the millennium described in Ezek. 47:1–23 and Rev. 20:1–15, the Church shall give the Gospel-tree to the nations outside Israel and the Church, and so shall heal their spiritual malady; but in the final and perfect new Jerusalem here described, the state of all is eternally fixed, and no saving process goes on any longer (compare Rev. 22:11)." Robertson notes, "For the healing of the nations [eis therapeian ton ethnon]. Spiritual healing, of course, as leaves [phulla]) are often used for obtaining medicines. Here again the problem occurs whether this picture is heaven before the judgment or afterwards." I hope this helps, BradK |

Dalcent, I'm no erudite Greek scholar, but my NASB 95 on Rev. 22:12 reads: "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done." According to what he has done is literally, "as his work is". I hope this helps. BradK |
