141 | APOLOGY ! ! ! ! | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 206197
Dear Imm... There is no need for you to apologize my friend, It was my fault for attacking you, and I am the one who should say I am sorry. I am sorry, Imm. I'd like to forget yesterday, bury the hatchet, and start over if that's ok with you? If we have sinned we have sinned against God, Imm, and we can rest assured, if we confess our sins, that He is faithful to forgive us. You are so right my friend, we are indeed still growing. I love the children's song that goes.... It only took a week to make the Sun and the Stars, the Earth and the Moon, and Mercury and Mars. But how loving and patient He must be, cause He's still working on me.... Thanks for your grace, Immanuelsown, I hope we can have a new start my friend. God bless John |

144 | What is holines | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 206511
Hello Flow: Welcome to the forum! Here are what I think are two very good definitions. "Holiness: in the highest sense belongs to God (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 15:4), and to Christians as consecrated to God's service, and in so far as they are conformed in all things to the will of God (Romans 6:19, 22; Ephesians 1:4; Titus 1:8; 1 Peter 1:15). Personal holiness is a work of gradual development. It is carried on under many hindrances, hence the frequent admonitions to watchfulness, prayer, and perseverance (1 Corinthians 1:30; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:23, 24). (See SANCTIFICATION.)"--Easton's Bible Dictionary. "Holy: Moral and ethical wholeness or purification; freedom from moral evil. Holiness is one of the essential elements of God's nature required of His people. Holiness may also be rendered "sanctification" or "godliness" The word holy denotes that which is sanctified or set apart for divine service." --Nelson's Bible Dictionary. God bless John |

145 | What is considered work on the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 206703
Hi docandlinda: If I were you I wouldn't change a ting about how you spend your Saturdays! It sounds like you are doing just fine. And I hope you continue to enjoy your gardening, it sounds absolutely delightful! :-) --"There is no other Sabbath rest beside Jesus. He alone satisfies the requirements of the Law, and He alone provides the sacrifice that atones for sin. He is God’s plan for us to cease from the labor of our own works. We dare not reject this one and only Way of salvation (John 14:6). God’s reaction to those who choose to reject His plans is seen in Numbers 15. A man was found gathering sticks on the Sabbath day, in spite of God’s plain commandment to cease from all labor on the Sabbath. This transgression was a known and willful sin, done with unblushing boldness in broad daylight, in open defiance of the divine authority. “And Jehovah said to Moses, ‘The man shall surely be put to death’” (v. 35). So it will be to all who reject God’s provision for our Sabbath rest in Christ. “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation” (Hebrews 2:3)."-- I highly recommend you going to this website and reading more about the Sabbath. http://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-Sabbath.html Again, just put the word "Sabbath" in the search box, and you'll find a wealth of good biblically sound information. God bless John |

147 | whjat does it mean man's free will | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 208078
Hello Jazzy: A warm welcome to the forum! The short answer is a resounding, Yes! Here is something that is much better said, from, http://www.gotquestions.org/free-will.html You can use that link to read more if you like, here is just a sample excerpt from that site. God bless John Question: "Do human beings truly have a free will?" Answer: If “free will” can mean that God gives humans the opportunity to make choices that genuinely affect their destiny, then, yes, human beings do have a free will. The world’s sin status is directly associated with choices made by Adam and Eve. All accounts of the fall of mankind indicate it was as the result of a wrong choice. From that point on, individuals have had the opportunity to choose to follow God or to experience the consequences for not making that choice. http://www.gotquestions.org/free-will.html |

Hi Malisa: What happened to the rich man, how did he live and how did he end up? And what happened to Lazarus? What was the story about? Did the rich man end up okay with God at the end of his life of luxury in which he did not care about the poor man, Lazarus? Can you tell me what you think? Have you read it? We would be happy to help you understand it, if you have some specific questions. It's really a very short read Malisa, only 12 verses long. :-) God bless you in your studies. John |

154 | Church membership...a requirement? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 209420
Dear Azure: I like what C.S. Lewis Says about "camping in the hallway" it gives a picture that it would be good to remain there and perhaps even fun for others who may be looking for a Church home. So, if we are not in a Church, we should at least make it known that this is not a comfortable place to be. Here where I live in the woods, we sometimes have problems with what we call squatters, and the authorities have to move them along after they have been camping too long. Sometimes, camping can sure look like we are setting up residency. :-) By the way I've recently added to my library, a copy of [9Marks of a Healthy Church] and it's sequel [The Deliberate Church] Also by Dr Mark Dever. A must read for any Pastor, Elder, or Deacon who is new to or is building a Church. And Highly recommended for anyone who just wants to know what a healthy Church aught to look like. :-) God bless John |

Hi Jack; Welcome to the forum! First of all, a true Prophet has to be correct 100 percent of the time of they are NOT a prophet but just a good guesser. And 2'd of all) How did this Kim C get it right and what was so right about what he got? You know there is a good chance he just guessed! Pay attention to what he says and see if he is right all the time. I think it was In 2001 Ken Copland said that 2002 would be the greatest year the Church has had in the history of America. Gee, I don't remember anything special about that year do you? But his followers still believe he is a prophet! Go figure huh? Keep your eyes open my friend. :-) God bless John |

Sister Azure, we know that our Father keeps books, Phil 4:3, Rev 20:12, so perhaps He has others too, in a place where time is NOT limited. :-) "Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life." Phil 4:3 Shalom and God bless John |

157 | where is the joy of my salvation? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 210241
Dear Linda: I see this is still a burden to you as you asked this a couple months ago. Don't be discouraged my dear, it's a pretty natural progression in the life of a Christian. As we learn and grow we often will wax sorrowful for the lost. This is good because; what kind of person would not be sad for them? It shows you have a real heart my friend, so don't put yourself down for it, and don't listen to those who say we need to be happy ALL the time. It's not natural to be happy all the time, it's just not realistic. The good news is we can have peace in our sorrow, and it should be faith building because, God is the one who puts that burden on our hearts to care and pray for the lost. The unsaved just don't do that! So chin up, keep caring and praying for the lost, it's shows your love for them and your love for God. Your doing fine. How often do we contemplate their plight and destiny without anguish of heart? Should we not be ashamed, that we could contemplate these souls, lost to eternity, that it does not rend our very hearts from our chests! Oh Lord! Give us that sacrificial love, which you expressed, and exposed, to our hearts, at the Cross of Christ! For your sake, and for your glory, dear Lord, give us Agape, and a deeper loving and caring heart, that we should quake with broken hearts, at the very thought of our enemy, on their ever downward spiral to perdition! – Keep caring and keep praying God bless John |
