141 | Where is this date from? | Gen 7:12 | Vintage68 | 215020
Hi BMyers Thank you for your question, in going back to give you an answer I found I had made a mistake, the following will explain. This date isn't actually from the creation of Adam. The date would have to be, from when they had to leave the garden. That would have to be when time actually did start for mankind. Because there is no way of telling how long Adam, and Eve were in the garden, before they were expelled. Time could only be calculated from the time they became fully mortal. Sorry ;-( I had a massive miscalculation. When adding all the ages, I inadvertently added the ages at the time of each death, instead of the ages at the time of each first sons birth. "oops" Therefore the date that I now come up with is ( 1656 ) For date of FLOOD This is my only source of information, for these calculations. Gen.5:3-32 3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth: 4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: 5And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. 6And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: 7And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: 8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. 9And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: 10And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: 11And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. 12And Cainan lived seventy years and begat Mahalaleel: 13And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: 14And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. 15And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: 16And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters: 17And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. 18And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: 19And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. 21And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. 25And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. 26And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: 27And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. 28And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. 30And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: 31And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 32And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Gen. 7:11,12 11In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. again sorry for the mess up Vintage68 |

143 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214958
Hi bibleman My intent was not meant to insult you, but when asking a question of people , those people need to know the special circumstances surrounding said question. Because the answer to your question is really very simple. There is no answer for a person that is suffering from a mental illness. There is no logical way of answering an Illogical question. Is that the reason you, have to this point been unable to answer it yourself? I did not say your question was dishonest, but we all need to know what the real reason any given question is asked. (common curtsy) Be Blessed Vintage68 |

144 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214955
Hi bibleman This is your original question: "When God told Abraham to kill his son... why was that not sin and why was that not tempting Abraham to sin? Which would be against what God said in James chapter 1 about God NOT temping any man with evil." In your asking this question you were not being honest with the members of this forum, you purposefully with-held information. Information which now you try to use as a defense, for your being so obtuse in your reluctance to accept any answers as sufficient. By doing so, you denied those that were trying to answer your question, information that was pertinent to "SOMEONE ELSES QUESTION" namely, someone that should be locked up if they think God is telling them do kill. When you were confronted with your unwillingness to look at your question rationally, you again with-held this information, you just stated that you were talking to a friend. Granted you did ask a question, it was answered correctly. But far beyond that, you came to a forum for studying the word of God trying to get an answer for a person that needs counseling. That is not the purpose of the forum. If you would have posted the true facts of your dilemma, as you have finally done, you would have saved everyone involved a lot of time. There is no answer that will be sufficient for your friend, but the question then arises, IS IT SUFFICIENT FOR YOU? I will be praying for you, and your friend. May God Bless you Vintage68 |

145 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214921
Hi Wildoliveshoot The answer that was given was in relation to a question that was being asked, with the knowledge of SIN as we have it today, ie after the Mosaic Law. The question also said kill which was actually sacrifice. But this should answer your question. From Adam to Moses, there was no law. Rom. 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. Vintage68 |

147 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214910
Hi bibleman Why do you equate the SACRIFICE of Isaac to God an evil act (sin)? The other places where the sacrifice of children are mentioned are only in relation to false gods, idols. I added brackets. This was the test, and the culmination of it. Gen.22:10-12 10.) And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11.) And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12.) And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: (for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.) Vintage68 |

149 | Can Angels repent? | Bible general Archive 4 | Vintage68 | 214905
Hi Jay123 This is the only place I could find, that came close to the same kind of sin that the angels committed. according to the Greek. (hamartano) (Verb) Lit., "to miss the Mr. ," is used in the NT (a) of "sinning" against God, (1) by angels, 2Pe. 2:4; (2) by man, Mt. 27:3,4; Matt.27:3,4 3.) Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4.) Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. 2 Peter 2:4 4.) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; There has been a debate about this for centuries, as to when, and how the angels could have sinned. I do not believe the angels were created with a free will. Neither did God give them an opportunity to repent. We on the other hand, have been created in the image, and likeness of God, the angels were not. Can you think of any other kind of sin an angel could commit, other than the one just spoken of? Which I believe to be the actual sin of rebellion against Gods rule over them, we do not have that consciousness of rebellion against Gods rule over our lives, before salvation. We can sin against God, or man in a great variety of ways. I can't pass up this opportunity. sorry :-) Using your own answer to your own question. Even though your ability to repent of your Question was taken away, because there were no edit options as you say, you still have taken the steps necessary in trying to Repent. Thereby gaining forgiveness. The angels Didn't Vintage68 |

Hi bibleman Every question you have asked including your original question, seem to have the same thrust in them, they all appear to be trying to catch God in a lie, or a contradiction. It would help, if in the future you would address your posts. Vintage68 |

In looking at the statement made, was the integrity of the bible compromised? Did the statement, in any way change the context of the original text? Did the statement, in any way change the meaning of the original text? No, nothing has been lost in using the word sin, instead of the word transgression. You use the word "rightly (handling) the word of truth." I use the word (dividing). Who is misrepresenting the bible? I DO Vintage68 |

Hi Humbled I have added the brackets. Maybe this will help Rom.4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: (for where no law is), (there is no transgression). 1 John 3:4 (Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law): (for sin is the transgression of the law). Ok If you want to split the hair about the exact wording. Sorry:-) Vintage68 |

154 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214881
Hi again bibleman Just had another thought. The bible says where there is no law there is no sin. Just based on that Even if Abraham had Killed his son as you have stated. That act would not have been sin, based on the grounds that there was not at that time, any law about killing, murder, etc. Rom.4:15 Rom. 5:13 Vintage68 |

155 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214878
Hi bibleman From what took place at the end of that story about Abraham, we can determine that God did not have any intention in letting Abraham go through with the sacrifice of his son. If Abraham did not do what God had said, he would have failed the test. Thereby no death of Isaac. But in the last second, when Abraham had determined in his heart, to sacrifice his son, to God. That is when God stopped him, providing a sacrifice instead of Isaac. No death of Isaac God knows the thoughts, and intentions of the heart, when Abraham fully intended to carry out what he had been commanded to do by God, that is when he was stopped. His intent then was not to kill any chances of Gods promise of coming to fruition, but rather his intention was to trust in God, and the promise, in spite of any doubt he may have had. Obedience is better than sacrifice, especially in this case. 1 Chronicles 28:9 Romans 8:27 Vintage68 |

Hi Val Israel is the apple of Gods eye. Therefore, anything that has, or will happen to Israel, God has allowed. Nothing that happens to Israel is out of the control of God. No unforeseen disaster, such as the giving of land, to the Palestinians, will put Israel into any danger that God would not be aware of. It's all in Gods plan. Vintage68 |

157 | For what does the woman or harlot stand? | Rev 17:1 | Vintage68 | 214864
Hi Pattycake I personally have come to the conclusion, that the Whore, Mystery Babylon, the Woman, are all Israel, with Jerusalem as the Capitol. In the book of Revelation,17:3-9 it says that the seven mountains, are seven heads, not literal mountains. That kind of disqualifies Rome in any way. Vintage68 |

Hi Beja My addendum to your post, is only for the purpose of placing a scripture, with your most eloquent dialog. The two following scriptures, clearly demonstrate the teaching of Jesus, on our obligation to be keeping the moral law, as per your statements. Brackets have been added Matt.19:17-19 17.) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, (keep the commandments). 18.) He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, (Thou shalt do no murder), (Thou shalt not commit adultery), (Thou shalt not steal), (Thou shalt not bear false witness), 19.) (Honour thy father and thy mother): and, (Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself). Matt.22:37-40 37.) Jesus said unto him, (Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind). 38.) This is the first and great commandment. 39.) And the second is like unto it, (Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself). 40.) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Vintage68 |
