142 | What's Satan doing in Heaven in Job? | Rev 12:10 | Reighnskye | 134238
EdB, You stated: "In this verse I think Jesus is speaking figuratively in that Satan saw his power being diminished and his works overturned." How can we discern if this verse was merely figurative, and not either literal or prophetic? Or any verse for that matter? - Luke 10 18 And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

143 | Does God curse people with sickness? | Exodus | Reighnskye | 134237
EdB, You stated: "I think this pasage tells us if we take communion in an unworthy manner we may get sick or even die." Perhaps it is better for one to refrain from taking communion altogether, if there is a remote chance that they shall be bound by a tragic curse beforehand. - 1 Corinthians 11 27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

144 | Will miracles arise in the last days? | Revelation | Reighnskye | 134236
EdB, Thanks for your seven rules for interpreting prophecy. - Daniel 12 4 "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

145 | How is the term "morning star" used? | Bible general Archive 2 | Reighnskye | 134235
EdB, I guess I've seen Satan as once truly possessing the bright light of the morning star, hence the former name of "Lucifer". However, the name "Lucifer" (morning star) was lost when he fell, and the name of "Satan" (accuser) was afterward acquired. Are you suggesting that "Satan" (accuser) is still "Lucifer" (morning star)? I thought that title was lost for a lesser one. Granted, he still possesses a psuedo-glory. - Isaiah 14 12 "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

146 | The coming kingdom of antichrist? | Bible general Archive 2 | Reighnskye | 134233
Tim Moran, It is my impression that the second verse that I had listed here reinforces the literal veracity of the first verse mentioned. Hence, the idea that the man Antichrist will undergo an actual physical resurrection, as opposed to simply imitated. A few of the Old Testament saints (Enoch and Elijah, some say Moses) had achieved physical immortality themselves. Why then would it be wondrous if the man Antichrist also possessed physical immortality like these others? These types of things only seem fantastic to us, because we have never seen them with our own eyes. Yet, our own personal experiences generally fall far short, when it comes to interpreting the greater spiritual reality around us. - Revelation 13 3 I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; (NAS95) Revelation 13 12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. (NAS95) - Further, although it is common for governments to be referred to as beasts or statues in the bible, these illustrations are commonly followed by more specific descriptions that refer to individual people as well. - Daniel 2 31 "You, O king, were looking and behold, there was a single great statue; that statue, which was large and of extraordinary splendor, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was awesome. 32 "The head of that statue was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, (NAS95) Daniel 2 37 "You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength and the glory; 38 and wherever the sons of men dwell, or the beasts of the field, or the birds of the sky, He has given them into your hand and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold. (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

148 | The coming kingdom of antichrist? | Bible general Archive 2 | Reighnskye | 134231
EdB, Thanks much. Are there any further scriptures to support the idea of a seven year tribulation, or is Daniel 9:24-27 the only reference? I've generally held to a 3 1/2 year trib myself. I personally believe that the terminology of a "seven-year reign" would be more appropriate, versus that of a "seven-year trib", insofar as tribulation only occurs for 3 1/2 years in the bible. - Revelation 13 5 There was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him. (NAS95) Revelation 11 2 "Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months. 3 "And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

149 | John Baptist's Jewish legal credentials? | Not Specified | Reighnskye | 133999
What were John the Baptist's legal Jewish credentials to baptize the Savior? We know that he was the son of the High Priest Zacharias. Shouldn't John have been ministering as High Priest, in the Holy Place of the temple, as opposed to baptizing the Savior in the wilderness? John the Baptist apparently trashed his fine religious robes to wear a poor man's garb of camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist. Shouldn't Jesus have been baptized by John at the temple? |

153 | OT history of the law of water baptism? | Not Specified | Reighnskye | 133995
What is the precise history of water baptism in the Old Testament? And how did the Old Testament law of water baptism evolve into the early Jewish church? John the Baptist (apt name here) practiced the OT Jewish ordinance of water baptism prior to the formation of the early Jewish church, via his authority as son of the High Priest Zacharias. Thereby, we may ascertain that it originated as an Old Testament law and practice, as opposed to simply an early church practice. - Biblical basis only please. - Blessings, Reighnskye |

155 | Baptism-What Does the Bible Teach? | Acts 2:38 | Reighnskye | 133991
Rowdy, I in no way dispute the veracity of either Mark 16:16 or Acts 2:38, as being fully applicable upon the early Jewish church. - Mark 16 16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. (NAS95) Mark 16 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (KJV) Acts 2 38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (NAS95) Acts 2 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (KJV) - Where we may differ, perhaps, is the applicability of these verses upon the Gentile churches under Paul. I view water baptism as an Old Testament practice, much like maintaining the Sabbath or being circumcised. These are all ordinances that the early Jewish church, under the authority of Peter and James, was quick to conform to. If anyone did not conform to these ordinances, they would likely be quickly excommuncated from the early Jewish church. Would it not be fair to say that water baptism is an Old Testament ordinance, that originates from the Law of Moses? Baptism originated as a ceremonial cleansing from the Old Testament priests, and was also practiced by John the Baptist (apt name here), prior to the formation of the early Jewish church. In fact, Jesus himself conformed to water baptism. John the Baptist, at the age of thirty, and as a descendent of Zacharias, now had authority to baptize the Savior, in accordance with Jewish Law. I have other scriptures to present to you, but I'm trying to figure out where your general beliefs are on a few issues first, so I may potentially offer appropriate scriptures. - Blessings, Reighnskye |

157 | The coming kingdom of antichrist? | Bible general Archive 2 | Reighnskye | 133982
Mark, It seems here that the primary sign that the antichrist will manifest is resurrection from the dead, and that no other sign of the antichrist will convert the world other than resurrection from the dead. Would this be accurate? - Revelation 13 3 I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; (NAS95) Revelation 13 12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. (NAS95) - Further, will the antichrist merely manifest "pretend miracles" or real ones? - Blessings, Reighnskye |

158 | Should saints be rich or poor? | Phil 4:11 | Reighnskye | 133981
BradK, Thanks for your response. I guess I'm going by the reference here, which suggests to me that the saint should avoid the opposite extremes of either excess or poverty. A similar notion would be with food, avoiding unhealthy gluttony or starvation. - Proverbs 30 7 Two things I asked of You, Do not refuse me before I die: 8 Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, 9 That I not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or That I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God. (NAS95) - The accumulation of wealth typically does not come about without a hefty price, whether it be sometimes before or sometimes after it's acquisition. There are those who work hard to obtain riches and use them wisely, but they often have compromised their own health to do so. Sometimes, they even sacrifice things like their own family or church attendence, because they work so hard. Still others may be freely granted wealth via a free inheritance or winning the lottery, but many of these actually tend to spend it all in excessive living for their own ends. Although financially rich, they often cannot handle their wealth, in that it corrupts them. Excessive wealth can sometimes be similar to excessive alcohol. They may both serve to intoxicate. - Blessings, Reighnskye |

159 | What happens when we die? | 2 Cor 5:8 | Reighnskye | 133979
EdB, I really appreciate these verses. I will give them to my friend, insofar as she's deeply experienced a number of deaths in her life, in the past three weeks. - 2 Corinthians 5 8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Philippians 1 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 1 Thessalonians 5 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. (NAS95) - Blessings, Reighnskye |

160 | Are people little "gods" in the bible? | Ps 82:6 | Reighnskye | 133973
EdB, Thanks again. J. Vernon McGee is really a profound author. I should pick up his bible commentary in the Christian bookstore, or maybe get it on CD. I used to listen to his radio program years back as he spent five years going through every verse of the bible. I do have a question about this scripture that you presented. - Psalms 82 6 I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High. 7 "Nevertheless you will die like men And fall like any one of the princes." (NAS95) Psalms 82 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. (KJV) - What is the interrelation between being a "god" and a "son of God", if any? Both terms are apparently used in this scripture unit, depending on the translation used. - Blessings, Reighnskye |
