141 | Only 900 "baptism" posts | 1 Cor 12:13 | Love Fountain | 29972
Dear CDBJ, You said,"this thread is 1Cor 12:13 and has nothing at all to do with water." Then you say,"it is a reference to the baptism of the Holy Spirit which every believer receives at the point of salvation." Please help me to understand how in 1Cor 12:13, we are to "drink of one Spirit" if that spirit is not water(living water), especially with 1John 5:8 in mind,"And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one". I have always understood the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to be one and Jesus to be God in the flesh and the Holy Spirit to be the spirit of God and in Jer 2:13 God says he is the fountain of living waters. I look forward to hearing from you. Please help me to understand your point of view, thank you. Bless you, Love fountain |

142 | Kin, too much ritual in baptism? | 1 Cor 12:13 | Love Fountain | 29970
Dear Robert, It has been a while since I have received this note from you and I apologize for not answering sooner. I hope you had a great New Years and Christmas. Your hope and faith touches my heart and it is obvious you have dedicated yourself to searching for the truth as I have as well. You have touched on a topic that I find myself totally immersed in, the heart. I too, like you, did not feel I was saved for only believing, except I looked at it from the point of, if all we have to do is believe why is the Bible so thick. Why has God written such an inexhaustible book if salvation was only to believe in Jesus?, this is what I would pray to understand. Yes, I do believe we are saved by grace but grace comes through faith and faith by hearing and hearing by the Word, which is the Word of God. It seems no matter what, God always takes me back to the Word. I like your reference to John 3:3, but even better I like John 3:5," Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God". The reason this verse has so much meaning to me is because when I was recently reading Jeremiah again in Jer 2:13 we read,"For my people have comitted two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. In this verse God says He is the fountain of living waters and I believe He referrences the broken cisterns to be symbols of man in the flesh body. We can go many places with water, but my point is that Jesus is the Word(John 1:1), the Living Word and both Jesus and the Word have very definite similarities in the Bible, and I believe Jer 2:13 is God telling us we need to have knowledge and wisdom within in our hearts and the lack of these is seen as evil to Him. "The blood of Jesus Christ...cleanseth us from all sin" 1John 1:7 "Ye are clean through the Word which I have spoken" John 15:3 Christ " Healed them" Matt 4:24 "He sent His Word and healed them" Psalm 107:20 "Christ hath made us free" Gal 5:1 "The Truth shall make you free" John 8:32 I believe we are saved by grace but I also believe we are to be ready when Jesus comes back as the Bridegroom and be presentable unto Him without stain, spot or blemish(spiritually), which is the great mystery Paul talks about in Eph 5. Every time I have seen so far in the Bible, when the Holy Spirit comes in unto people, it is always preceeded by the written or spoken Word and I believe it is the hearing and understanding of the Word which leads to repentance, belief, healing and cleansing. Ultimately I feel that baptism today is much too ceremonial, and I am confused by what it does. I see no spiritual significance with being baptized by a man. Please read Mark chapter 7, it is about ceremonially cleansing, God says ceremonially cleansing is likened unto cleaning cups and pots and likens it unto traditions of men, "making the Word of God of none effect". All I know is that I have never appreciated anything in my life that has been given to me half as much as the things I have worked for and to think I have eternal life based on grace and belief without having to do nothing else, just does not make sense to me. So much so that I believe God wants more from His children than I hear being taught in the world today. I am interested in your thoughts, thank you for listening to me this time. Jer 29:13 for ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart. Bless you!, Love Fountain 1Pet 1:22-25 |

143 | Trinity (again)? | Acts 2:38 | Love Fountain | 29824
Dear Johnny, Please read what I wrote to you again. Jesus said His Father is greater than He is as a symbol of you and me also being Gods children so we would know that God is greater than all His children. Are you saying Jesus is not God? If He is not God who do you think He is? Are you a Jehovah's Witness? Bless you, Love Fountain |

144 | Trinity (again)? | Acts 2:38 | Love Fountain | 29813
Dear Johnny, Robert has given you a very good answer, but you still have the same question you have asked others. You said,"HE said the Father is Greater than He is". I agree that Jesus did say the Father is greater than He is. Johnny, would you agree that Jesus came into the existence of flesh to save us from our sins and to be our example of how we should live our lives? Jesus is Gods gift to us, not only to suffer for our sins but also to be an example of how a true child of the Living God is to live his or her life. You are Gods child and so am I, and we are told by Scripture to take the mind of Christ. God came in the flesh to be our example of how we are to live our lives as His children. Jesus, as the Son, is an example of you, Johnny, also a son of God. The only difference is Jesus is God and you are a son, but because your Father loves you so much, He died for you, wrote the Bible for you and has sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and teach you until He returns. There is ONE God, when you are one, it does not mean one of this and one of that, just plain and simple ONE. I hope this helps! Jesus does not lie, but we sometimes need to help each other look at another point of view and ask God in our prayers for wisdom and understanding according to His will. Bless you, Love Fountain |

149 | Call those things that are not | Bible general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 29207
Dear Mother, Happy New Year! I wanted to respond to what you said, "I have no idea where else to turn or how to study the Bible to get what I need". The Bible is the most incredible, inexhaustible book in the whole world. Fifty people could read the same chapter of any given book and come up with different interpretations of what they had just read. The Bible is personally written to you, to me and to all of God's other children who choose to understand the true Father and want to understand His will and what and how He would have us. In Ephesians 4:25-27 we are told that Jesus(the Bridegroom) loved the church(the bride) and gave Himself up for her and that He would present her to Himself glorious with no spots, wrinkles or any other such things, to be holy without blemish. The way to be presented without any blemish or spot is given in verse 26 of the same book and chapter we are told that HE would have us sanctified and washed with (spiritual)water by the word, His words, the Living Word which is the (spiritual)living water that we shall never thirst again(John 4:10) if we drink of it. In 2Timothy 2:15 we are told to study to show ourselves approved and in Eph 5:1 we are told to be followers of God as His children, because His children we are. Anyways, your words touched my heart and I sense you are seeking to understand and for this I have great joy and hope for you. Recently I was reading the book of Jeremiah and in Jer 17:5 it says cursed is anyone who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength whose heart turns away form the Lord, this is why I will listen to people on the radio or TV and on the internet, but ultimately I only goto the Bible. If I don't understand I pray, meditate and read again and again until God allows me to understand. This is really tough at times because I don't have much patience and I know God knows this to be true and is one of the lessons I am receiving. I am sure your experience is different than mine because we are all unique and bring different gifts to the table which help each other grow in faith. Keep searching and you will find Him. Bless you, Love Fountain |

151 | Judas went to hell? | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 28786
Dear Serenetime, Happy New Year and thank you for the enlightening posts you have submitted on this thread. I have been reading and watching this post and feel within my heart and soul to pursue the truth into the matter at hand,"Judas went to hell". Many seem to easily accept that Judas is indeed in hell through implications in Scripture and opinions of Scholars in commentaries, but the fact still remains that Scripture doesn't say," Judas went to hell". I agree with you," for who are we to judge?", as I am without a doubt a sinner and by no right do I claim anything above a sinners rightful place, but through repentance and an ever increasing search for perfect love through the Word of Truth I feel the need to show ourselves approved to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit by rightly dividing the Words of Truth and getting to the truth about Judas. I am extending an invitation to you so that we can both grow in the Truth. What do you think? I believe this should be done by two so there is a second witness, according to Scripture. I will use the KJV so we can communicate with the Strongs, as it appears you already do but I will sometimes refer to my NIV for easier reading, I hope you have one of these too. Please let me start this inquisition by going to the witness', I believe this is the place to start. Matt 26:3,4 -(3) Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,(4) And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty(guile), and kill Him.(KJV) Matt 26:3,4 - (3) Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,(4) and they plotted to arrest Jesus in some sly way and kill him.(NIV) In the above verses they are assembling to talk about Jesus and how they can deceitfully scheme to arrest and kill Jesus. These also are the individuals that strike an agreement with Judas and are the firsthand witness' to Judas' betrayal and this is a great place for us to start our search for the truth. Did Judas truly have intentions of hurting Jesus or was he set up as a victim of deceit? To be continued........... Bless you, Love Fountain Eph 4:15,16 |

152 | "Sons" of perdition? | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 28782
Dear Tim, Please share with me the understanding of the Greek word for "except" which I believe is "ei me". I am hoping the Greek definition is similiar to the English definition which I hope answers your question regarding whether or not satan or the antichrist was given to Christ. I think satan has been left out because as I chased the English word "except" in the Websters and I was led to a definition of the word exclude, meaning to bar from participation, consideration, or inclusion. What about the fulfillment of John 17:12 in John 18:9? This helps me to see that none are lost, not even Judas, no matter how many may want otherwise. Bless you, Love Fountain |

153 | "Sons" of perdition? | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 28775
Dear Tim, Happy New Year and thanks for your response. I have never thought of Judas as the son of perdition because of the fact that only satan is condemned to eternal death in the Scripture(John 16:11) and we are even told how he is to die the death of fire from within him that turns him into ashes(Eze 28:18). I believe this because scripture says so and the definiton of perdition is described as eternal damnation. I do not believe the reference to the son of perdition in John 17:12 is Judas and I don't believe he is in hell, because Scripture does not say so in a direct manner. The answer to John 17:12 is in understanding the whole chapter of John 17. The chapter is our Lord praying to the Father and in verse 20 He says,"My prayer is not for them(disciples) alone".(NIV) In John 17, Jesus is praying for all believers. If we read John 17:12, Jesus says," ....None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction..."(NIV)(aka son of perdition). I put great emphasis towards "THE ONE", because the ONLY ONE already judged to eternal death is satan within the Scripture(as stated with Scripture above). Also, if we go to the next chapter, John 18:9 is the fulfillment of John 17:12 and says, "This happened so that the words He had spoken would be fulfilled: "I have not lost one of those you gave me."(NIV). John 18:9 refers directly and plainly to all His disciples who are with Him in the garden at that point in time and He says none are lost. Upon the Scripture which clearly states who the son of perdition is(son sentenced to eternal damnation), not "sons" and the fulfillment of John 17:12 in John 18:9, I do not believe Judas went to hell because he has not been judged and know where in scripture does it clearly and plainly state "Judas went to hell." Bless you, Love Fountain |

155 | Judas went to hell? | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 28469
Dear Nolan, I merely asked a question regarding the "sons" of perdition because I always thought that satan was the only one who has been judged in the whole Bible. Even the angels who left their first estate have not been judged but await judgement bound by chains in darkness. Perdition in The American Heritage Dictionary is defined as 1a.)the loss of the soul; eternal damnation. b.) Hell 2.) Utter ruin. Yes, Kalos and yourself have provided a great deal of scripture which can imply Judas as having gone to hell, but the fact remains that the scripture does not clearly and plainly state, "Judas went to hell." I believe what stjones has said to be correct in the regard of John 17:12 is referring to Judas' condition and not fate. I also believe that there is an immense amount of great detail that is overlooked regarding Judas. I must be honest with you, I have been thinking about the response you have given me for that last couple of days. Praying and meditating and reading for what to say to you regarding how you have made me feel. I have learned from reading what you write on this forum, not always agreeing but respecting your belief and the side you decide to take. I am a little put off by your statement to me though, you said, "Now I have responded, and now I have seen fit to refute this utter nonsense." and, "The reason that I did not respond more quickly to this NONSENSE........", I feel no matter what I say you have found your belief to be the only true one before I can even say a word. If this is true than that is ok! But please don't say that my question is nonsense which implies that no matter what I have to say further will also be nonsense. I believe God is all merciful to anyone who confesses(Prov 28:13) and Judas repented in Matt 27. I am puzzled how so many people feel that they know the true intent of Judas' heart? How can we be sure that Judas didn't think that Jesus would convince those giving the trial that He(Jesus) was indeed the the Messiah, Judas was by no means ignorant, but is made out to be satan himself. Would satan have given back the 30 pieces of silver? Bless you, Love Fountain |

156 | Does God have multiple motivations? | Deut 29:29 | Love Fountain | 27936
Dear Fran, As I was reading through the responses of this thread, I wanted to let you know that I am truly touched by your responses because I also am a parent and can relate to the love that you are talking about. The love of a parent towards a child is in my understanding unconditional, and I am pretty convinced that it is due to God's unconditional love that He sent His Son to die for the rest of us, so we can repent and seek His will which He has laid out for us to follow. Anyways, thanks for the love. Bless you, Love Fountain |

157 | Judas went to hell? | NT general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 27932
Dear Kalos, Happy Holidays to you. I am confused by your response regarding Judas being the son of perdition. In the post you refer to the son of perdition as the antichrist in 2Thes 2:3. Are you saying the antichrist is Judas? To me, the scripture says "son" of perdition, not "sons". So either the son of perdition is Judas or it is the antichrist, right? Also, I have read this whole post and serenetime also asked you a question that has not been answered that I think is a great question, along the same road as the question I have. I know you would answer all questions to you but serenetime seems to have made a mistake and addressed the question to Nolan who has not answered either. Please help me understand because I have always thought the devil to be the son of perdition. Perdition meaning to perish, as in the son sentenced to perish and as far as I have read knowhere does the bible say Judas is sentenced to death. My understanding of Judas is in a sense of similarity to all who have been called to fulfill the purpose of God. In likeness to Judas and his negative appearance in scripture we also have the pharoah, esau and many others who fulfill their negative calling. Also, since scripture does not clearly and plainly state Judas went to hell is fair for us to say he is in hell?, don't you think that might be an assumption? What do you think? Bless you, Love Fountain |

158 | What do people boast about? Why? | Jer 9:23 | Love Fountain | 27787
Dear searcher, Happy Holidays! No, I am deeply saddened that there is not much change since then in the way people behave and boast. I love and believe in Jesus and am very grateful for the forgiveness of sins, which He accomplished for us. I really like Jer 9:24 when God says boast that you know Me, which is what makes Him happy. The only way we can truly know Him is by reading the Word He graciously has given to us to know Him by. Jesus lives! Bless you, Love Fountain |

159 | Is it wrong to have pictures of Jesus? | Rom 1:23 | Love Fountain | 27603
Dear Johnny, Please help me to understand how you say,"Bible taught us to worship Him in Spirit and truth", and then to understand 1Cor 11:14,15 when Paul speaks about hair, you think he is talking about the physical hair on our heads and relate this with worship in Spirit. How does physical hair, which is corruptible, on the head of a man or woman have anything to do with worshipping or understanding in Spirit and truth, which is uncorruptible? My understanding is that you are saying if I have hair to my shoulders then I am shameful? I thought God looks at the heart? Wouldn't it be considered vain to care how long a persons physical hair is? I don't think God is vain. Please help me to understand, thanks. Bless you, Love Fountain |
