141 | Which book in the Bible do I commence | Bible general Archive 2 | prayon | 141369
Greetings, I agree with greentwiga that John is the best book to read for a new believer, but if I understand you right you are not a new believer. I will answer your question with a question - What version are you reading? The King James version is a beautiful version but I believe it is not the best one to use to get an understanding as you seem you want to do. If I was to recommend a bible version for you I would recommend that you use a God's Word translation or use the message bible. Both are much easier to understand and much easier to follow. Hope this helps you. prayon
142 | Romans 5 What is Paul saying | Rom 5:13 | prayon | 141367
Greetings tgc, God did hold people accountable for their sins. What Paul was referring to in verse 13 was that before Moses received the laws from God there was no strict accounting of their specific points of their violations. But even without the law death was universal because their can be no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. Hope this helps. prayon |

144 | matt 13:1-9 means | Matt 13:8 | prayon | 137911
Greetings and welcome to the forum. In this parable Jesus is teaching us the importance of having a receptivity of the heart. The sower is anyone who teaches or preaches about Jesus. This includes even the newest Christian telling someone else about Christ. The seed is the word or the gospel. There are 4 different types of soil. The first is the wayside soil. This represents the person with a closed heart. The birds that peck the seeds out of the soil are the cares of the world. The stony soil is when the word is heard but it does not take route. The person does not count the cost of walking with Christ. The soil with the thorns is the most deceptive of all. The seed takes root but it bears no fruit. It is choked out by the cares of the world. It represents the preoccupied person. Their devotion is minimized by distractions, there just doesn't seem to be enough time to pray or read the bible. The weeds roots of pleasures and cares have cholked out the true seed before it can develop and and produce fruit. The last soil is the good soil. This is the person who hears the word and bears fruit. Some thirty fold (the wone that is saved but only half-heartedly), some sixty-fold (bearing fruit but without complete obedience) and one hundred fold (complete obedience to God). Hope this helps, prayon |

150 | Why bad things happen? | Bible general Archive 2 | prayon | 135199
Greetings p139girl, I used to always ask the same question. I discovered that God allows bad things to happen to help us to grow in character and strength. He also allows us to go through trials so that we can use the experience later in life. For example, I went through spouse abuse. Now that I look back I have discovered that if I had not gone through the experience I would of never been able to help other woman who were involved in the same situation. If I had never experienced it I would of never been able to understand how the woman felt. Another thing that I have learned is that it was at these times that I learned to lean on God and trust in Him. My relationship with Him grew powerfully. God is in control of all things and He will turn bad situations around and use them for the good - Look for His hand in the situation. It will be there somewhere. While you are going through these bad times stop for a minute and do these couple things: 1) Ask God what He would have you to learn from the situation. 2) Look for the good things in the situation. I have learned that there is ALWAYS a blessing in every situation. Count and list the blessings that you can find. 3) Ask Him for direction in how to respond to the situation around you. "He will never leave you or forsake you". And Remember, "Lean not to your own understanding but in all ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path". Turn to Him for the comfort you seek. I know that God will take the experience you will gain and use it to help someone else. You may be the only support another person has. God Bless you. prayon |

152 | napkin | John 20:7 | prayon | 133739
Greetings, The handkerchief or face cloth laying seperately from the rest of the linen cloths showed 2 things. First the orderly arrangement of everything in the tomb marks the absence of haste and was plainly the effect of thought, care, and composure; and clearly showed, that the body was not taken away in a hurry, or by thieves, since everything lay in such order and decency; and which was done, either by our Lord himself, or by the angels. The second thing that it showed is a contrast between the resurrection of Lazarus and that of Jesus. Where as Lazarus came forward from the grave wearing his gravecloths Jesus was glorified and was able to pass through the gravecloths much the same way as He later entered the locked room. prayon |

153 | EXPLIAN TO ME A WHEEL IN A WHEEL | Ezek 10:10 | prayon | 133736
Greetings. The four wheels on Go's chariot mingled with the 4 angels coordinated with each other with such percesion and looked so much alike that it was as if one wheel blended entirely with another. Since their appearance was so unified and their action was so in unison that it was if they were one inside another. prayon
154 | How much time spent on the Forum? | James 1:25 | prayon | 133734
Greetings Just me, I believe that being on the forum is the same as studying God's word. In order to answer the different questions that are posed you must research God's word to both correctly answer and provide scriptural back-up. I believe that you are spending too much time if you are neglecting the things that the Lord has entrusted to you such as providing for your family, your church, guiding and teaching your children. Hope this helps. prayon |

157 | who was isaiah | Gen 2:1 | prayon | 133369
Greetings and welcome to the forum, Isaiah, which means salvation of the Lord, was the son of Amoz and was a prophet to Judah during the reign of 4 kings - Uzziah, Hotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah during the time of the divided kingdom. Isaiah is quoted more than any other prophet in the New Testament. He is sometimes known as the evangelistic prophet and the book of Isaiah is sometimes known as the 5th gospel. The major thrust of his messages was directed to the southern kingdom of Judah. He condemned the empty ritualism of his day, and the idolatry into which so many had fallen. He also gives more prophesies of Christ than any other prophet. He lived until at least 681 BC and met his death under the reign of King Manasseh by being cut into with a wooden saw.
