141 | Where doe God say he is Jesus? | Acts 9:1 | Pastor Glenn | 63843
SunsetGypsy, The bible shows that Jesus' devinity is more open and plain to those that want to know and follow Him. While He hides His secrets from those that love evil: John 4:25The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When He comes, He will tell us all things." 26Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He." Even the religious leaders rejected Him and could not see Him in the scriptures: Matt 22:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David." 43He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him "Lord,' saying: 44"The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"'?[Psalm 110:1] 45If David then calls Him "Lord,' how is He his Son?" 46And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore. 1 Corinthians 2:8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. SunsetGypsy, If you invite Him in, He will reveal more to you also: Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Pastor Glenn |

Ray, Maybe should Jesus quenched her thirst spiritually. Here is another scripture: Isaiah 55:1 "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. God Bless Pastor Glenn |

144 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63699
justme, I think the anointing with oil is an act of faith as in the following scriptures: Acts 5:15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Mark 6:56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well. I think some pastors may feel that it is not right to get peoples hopes up and their loved ones should die anyway. Well, I feel that we should come to God in faith and leave it up to Him to heal or not: Jonah 3:8But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? 146 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63654
sarajrae, Here is a good starting scripture: James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16Confess your trespasses[5] to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. If you have a reference bible (If you do it will say "Reference Bible" on the edge of the cover), you should learn how to find the references listed for each verse. This will lead you to more related scriptures where you can repeat the process of following more references. Otherwise, you should learn to use the search features of this web site. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

147 | I'm looking for scripture to help answer | Rom 1:20 | Pastor Glenn | 63650
hadensville, This question seems to always keep popping back up. The bible is not just "a" book. It is a library collection of 66 books that were written over a period of over 1400 years, by over 40 different secretaries many of whom were willing to give their lives rather than change their story. For they did not write with the motivation to make themselves "look good" or to profit on an amazing new story. The bible is also totally historical. There is the dead sea scrolls, as well as, the presence of "hostile" witnesses that cannot be refuted. See the following links: http://www.ibiblio.org/expo/deadsea.scrolls.exhibit/Library/library.html http://www.westarkchurchofchrist.org/library/extrabiblical.htm http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs2001/1224christmas.asp The problem is not that there is a lack of historical, scientific, or natural evidence. The problem is as stated in the scriptures: Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 148 | Middle East and America in Prophesy | Rev 12:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63221
Welcome to the forum Chinwe, Rev 12:13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.[2] The "...the woman was given two wings of a great eagle..." (verse 14) could represent the USA, since the Eagle is the national symbol. The USA also help Israel become a nation again in their own land after the dragon tried to destroy all Jews in the holocaust. Gen 25:22But the children struggled together within her; and she said, "If all is well, why am I like this?" So she went to inquire of the LORD. 23And the LORD said to her: "Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger." Some Arabs are descended from Esau, while others are descended from Ishmael. Genesis 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

149 | real reason it was built | Gen 11:4 | Pastor Glenn | 61057
Gen 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. There was no other reason. As the scripture says, they wanted to make a name for themselves. It is clear that they wanted to get to heaven without a relationship with God. At this time everyone truly knew of the one true God, since Noah and his sons were still living. But the problem of sin goes beyond whether or not we believe that God exists: 1John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 153 | follow-up on the signs | Matt 24:29 | Pastor Glenn | 60755
The great tribulation will be so obvious that no one will fail to notice it. Yes we are to consider the famines, earthquakes and wars as fulfilling signs or the APPROACH of His coming rapture of the church. Most Christians believe that He will rapture the church just before the great Tribulation. I do not know when the Tribulation or rapture will be, but the tribulation will last 7 years. 155 | How do i find Peace through Suffering? | Ps 69:1 | Pastor Glenn | 60713
Psalm 27 An Exuberant Declaration of Faith A Psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? 2When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. 3Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. 4One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. 5For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. 6And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek." 9Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me. 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. 12Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. 13I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. 14Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! |

156 | Explain eye for eye/turn cheek? | Matt 5:1 | Pastor Glenn | 60578
Here is a quote from a previous post: "Searcher: "Matthew 5:21,22 *You have heard.... But I say to you.* See vv. 27, 31, 33, 38:, 43. The quotes are from Ex. 20:13; Deut. 5:17. Jesus was not altering the terms of the law in any of these passages. Rather, he was correcting what they had 'heard' -- the rabbinical understanding of the law." "Matthew 5:38 *An eye for an eye.* The law did establish this standard as a principle for limiting retribution to that which was just (Ex. 21:24; Lev. 24:20; Deut. 19:21). Its design was to insure that the punishment in civil cases fit the crime. It was never meant to sanction acts of personal retaliation. So again Jesus made no alteration to the true meaning of the law. He was mere explaining and affirming the law's true meaning" (MacArthur Study Bible, Word Publishing, 1997). Grace to you, John" The key is "...Its design was to insure that the punishment in civil cases fit the crime. It was never meant to sanction acts of personal retaliation. So again Jesus made no alteration to the true meaning of the law. He was mere explaining and affirming the law's true meaning" (MacArthur Study Bible, Word Publishing, 1997). ..." The old testament law concerning this was a guide for the Israeli government (after the cops are called). But people were using this as a bases for taking PERSONAL revenge (vigilante or mob justice).
