Scripture tells us there is one God. Scripture also tells us there is God the Father and God His Son Jesus Christ. We also know through scripture there is God the Holy Spirit. The three make up the God head. One God three persons. This is known as the trinity and there is much discussion and debate as man tries to define something that man can't fully understand. |

142 | Christ Jesus took our punishment for our | Bible general | EdB | 241762
To be forgiven of sin you must believe and trust in Jesus Christ. If you truly believe in Jesus you will not intentionally sin. If you do sin you will be equally quick to repent and to make it right. True followers of Christ do not seek to find out how much sin they can get away with, instead they seek how to live holy and far away from sin. As Jesus told the woman caught in adultery, go and sin no more. That is a lifestyle every Christian should strive for to go and sin no more. |

Jail/Prison is a reality of committing a crime. We can be forgiven by God but if tried and convicted of a crime we still must face jail. But this life is short scripture says it is like a whisp of smoke. So what is important is where we spend eternity. If we believe and trust in Jesus we will spend eternity with Him. You really need to sit down and talk to a Pastor. |

146 | What Did Judas Do to be called Traitor? | Luke 6:16 | EdB | 241731
Matthew 26:23-25 (NASB) 23 And He answered, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 "The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." 25 And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" Jesus *said to him, "You have said it yourself." Matthew 26:47-50 (NASB) 47 While He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came up accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him." 49 Immediately Judas went to Jesus and said, "Hail, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. 50 And Jesus said to him, "Friend, do what you have come for." Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him. Matthew 27:3-5 (NASB) 3 Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!" 5 And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself. |

147 | Obedience in Love? | Lev 19:18 | EdB | 241697
To love or to show love to sinner does not require us to agree, accept or tolerate the sin. Loving a sinner does not mean we love his sin or the world the sinner lives in. Math 5:44 tells us to love our enemies. Sinners by definition are enemies of God and all those that love God. |

148 | Is there another way of repenting beside | 2 Chr 7:14 | EdB | 241696
Repentence is not only saying you are sorry. True repentance requires us to turn from the sin. When you ask for forgiveness God hears you and will always forgive you. However if you are asking for God to help you get out the mess you find yourself in without really repenting of the sin, God knows your heart. True repentence requires a change of heart. |

149 | Does God cause people to get arrested ? | Matt 24:9 | EdB | 241694
Arrest is a consequence of our sinful actions. All sin carries consequences. When you sin and break a law the consequence is possibly jail. It is not a matter of God wanting you arrested it is matter of the consequence of our actions when we yield to sin. |

151 | Does God force His will on us ? | Mark 1:12 | EdB | 241644
I say no God does not force His will on us. I do believe that God being God can accomplish His will for us, for the church and for the world without imposing His will on individuals. In the passage you cite I believe the better translation is Immediately the [Holy] Spirit compelled Him out into the wilderness. I believe Jesus is very sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit thus He yielded to Him. We as Christians need to learn to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is only when we learn to yield to Holy Spirit that God can and will accomplish all He desires through us. |

152 | Who or What Dictates Your Behavior? | Deut 6:6 | EdB | 241640
God does not micro manage. God has given us commandments for our worship, social behavior, governmental leadership and interpersonal relations. However that does not say that in each category society, government, or even interpersonal relationships will not provide other guidelines or rules. Also not all people that come to a "Christian" forum do so as Christians. Many people like to bait or stir the pot to see what reactions they can get. Others have agendas that are counter to orthodox Christianity. Many have motivates to deceive and misled people particularly in the area of church attendance. Some come to under mine others faith or beliefs. Therefore the owner of most forums put in place a way to manage such actions. Some cases it is a precise set of rules, to others it is moderators and censoring. I have been a member of this forum from it's inception. The rules that guide this forum were created after the fact. They were put into place to combat the ill behavior of some that came to this forum for reasons other than honoring God through a sincere interest to study God's word and seeking the wisdom of others in that pursuit. Over the years this forum has seen more than one person come to it with the "answers". By that I mean the person through whatever means has found the "secrets" of God or they want to define God in their own terms. Most claim their knowledge was gleaned from scripture but when you peel back that onion there is usually a problematic agenda in their understanding of scripture. |

153 | Mark 1:12 ekbaino not ekballo, | Mark 1:12 | EdB | 241609
My Complete Biblical Interlinear uses a third word "ekballei". I think I would email Lockman directly and see if they will explain to you why they did what they did. To me the best translation of the word is "Compelled". |

John 14:15 (NASB) 15 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. They can't claim they are keeping his commandments. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV) 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. Their appearance destroys their testimony. But only God can knows for certain their heart. |

155 | White linen and blue linen symbolizes..? | Bible general | EdB | 241606
We generally see four colors. Red - Blood Blue - Sky or watere Purple - Royality White - Purity Purple and Blue were not mixed colors but instead were dyes obtained from Molusk and thus were very expensive. Red often came from fruit and was less expensive and of course white was bleached linen. Some see the four colors are all shadows, representing the four facets of Jesus, and the four Gospels. Purple - color of royalty, corresponds to Matthew, who portrays Jesus as King, also represented by the face of a lion. White - color of servant, corresponds to Mark, who portrays Jesus as the servant, also represented by the face of an ox. Red - color of blood, corresponds to Luke, who portrays Jesus as man, also represented by the face of a man. Blue - color of Heaven, corresponds to John, who portrays Jesus as God, also represented by the face of an eagle. Other see Blue-King, Scarlet-Judge, Purple-Prophet, and agan white purity |

156 | HCSB what's your opinion? | Bible general | EdB | 241544
Opinion HCSB is another of many translations. Many denominations sought easy to read and easy to understand translations to use in their denominational material. Like Sunday School material and internal magazine articles. However some publishers made changed to these translation to be more marketable ("gender correctness") it put the denominations that were using their material and didn't agree with the changes in a bad position. The Baptist decided to prevent future occurances of this happening they decided to publish their own translatiion which they could insure stayed true to their beliefs. I believe the HCSB used both the Westcott Hort Greek and the Textus Receptus. However when there is a discreptency they do not identify it other than saying some manuscripts say this or omit that. |

157 | How do you share Jesus with others? | Eph 4:12 | EdB | 241534
In most churches Eph 4:12 is rarely if ever the focal point of the church as it should be. Most Christians are not equipped to by the ministry gifts to do the work of the Lord. Most Christians expect to be encouraged, convicted, entertained, emotionally effected but rarely are they seeking to be equipped. The best testimony is open acknowledgement of being in Christ and the life we live. Today too many Christians allow their life to defeat any testimony, any attempt to share Jesus. Rome was not won to Christ by preaching or evangelism. It was won by how Christians lived and died in the persecution. |

158 | difference in a Christians funeral? | Bible general | EdB | 241532
Our society is becoming more and more mixed Christian - Non. Sadly this trend is equally occurring in our families and friends. At one time Christians had Christian families and friends. God was present in the funeral. Today in many cases there is a wide range of beliefs. The lost of this world have no hope thus their funerals are hopeless and without God's presence. That is the difference. Is God present or not? As a Christian I have little regard for my funeral in fact all I want is a celebration service. When I discard this tent I have no use for it and no desire to eulogize it or my life. My reward await me in heaven. |

159 | Has The GLORY of the LORD left the USA? | Bible general | EdB | 241530
Justme this question requires speculation and that is frowned upon on this forum. That said and at the risk of chastisement I will take a stab at your question. Scripture tells us God protected Israel as a nation, but in cases of other protection it was most usually an individual. We are also told by scripture that all governments are God ordained, be they bad or good. I think as Christians we need to rest trusting in God for His protection of us and not so much for our nation. At the judgment seat no nation will stand only individuals. |

160 | Unatoned who die experience a sting/fire | John 20:17 | EdB | 241516
Jeremaih1five We must not confuse Hades/Hell with the eternal place of the unrighteous dead. That is the Lake of Fire. AFTER the Great White Throne of Judgement those that died outside of Christ will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, not Hell or Hades. Hades/Hell is/was the holding place of the dead. The unrighteous dead await in a hot dry place. The righteous dead in Abraham's bosom or paradise. All are held by death. Once Jesus overcame death the righteous dead held captive by death were freed and taken by Jesus to Heaven. I believe Jesus preached to them proving He was the Messiah they all awaited. When the righteous die today they go immediately into Christ's presence since death has no hold on them as Paul tells us in 2 Cor 5:8 However the unrighteous dead have not been freed of death's hold so they still go to Hades/Hell to await judgement. So yes in a sense you are correct if you feel the sting of death you are in the wrong place. For those in Christ, death has no sting. |
