1241 | and a jezebel spirit..? | Rev 2:20 | charis | 16535
Dear Cate, Greetings in Jesus' name! According to the New Ungers Bible Dictionary: Jezebel was a woman in whom were united the sternest and fiercest qualities inherent in the Phoenician people. The wild license of her life and the magical fascination of her arts and of her character were known throughout the nation (2 Kings 9:22). Long afterward her name lived as the byword for all that was detestable. In Revelation 2:20 she is used as a type of those who encourage immorality and false teaching, in the same way that she engulfed Israel in idolatry. In Christ Jesus, charis |

1242 | Pure joy in Heaven? | Rev 7:9 | charis | 2189
Dear prayon, Another great question! I may have an outlook different from many in the US, because in Japan, the chances are that over 99 percent of your loved ones are not in heaven. In addition, there is the 'social responsibility' of ancestor worship. (I say social responsibility because few understand or believe the religious aspect) I battle with this one almost every day, and the answer has to be that God is just, and we will rejoice in His perfection. He will 'wipe away each tear' and turn our 'mourning into dancing.' The present 'emotional' aspect of our relationship with family will be superceded by the spiritual knowledge that God is righteous. Please understand I mean no disrespect toward your feelings. I only say that our Lord and Savior will heal every wound. In the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, we see that the rich man desired to tell his earthly family of their peril. I don't know if there is any 'comfort' in Hell, but it does seem that the rich man would be pleased to know that the rest of his family found the Lord. It seems that those who did not respond to (or were chosen by) the Lord, accept the righteousness of God, so we should, too. Dear sister in the Lord, bless you in Jesus' name, charis |

1243 | Pure joy in Heaven? | Rev 7:9 | charis | 85265
Dear Freethinker, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Good question! I'm sorry I was away, and it took so long to answer your question. The Word of God clearly states the condition for salvation. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8,9 Paul wrote to the church at Thessalonica of 'man of lawlessness' and the lawlessness of men. "...and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved." 2 Thessalonians 2:10 NASB This speaks of those that reject Christ. But the Bible also says that we were all slaves to sin, resulting in death. "And you were dead in your trespasses and sins," Ephesians 2:1 Yet... (Praise the Lord!) "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 NASB Now, having read your user info, you know all this, right? :-) Here is the answer to your question: I don't know. But I do see evidence that indeed all who are not in Christ are dead in their sin. Is ignorance a loophole? I seriously doubt it. I was an atheist before God apprehended me, and thought I had it all worked out. But the reality of man's sin was made clear to me, and then my own sin. I still pursued all the 'What about..." questions, and finally came to the conclusion that I trust God to be righteous and just! I will not know all the details of His salvation until I meet Him, but I know I will be satisfied. His judgemnts are true. I think the gist of the matter is man's trying to quantify and organize the details of salvation and 'understand' them. This would give us the 'power' of judgement, which is God's sovereign territory. God's wondrous grace is truly amazing, and lawlessness is also a mystery. Satan's rebellion was doomed from the get-go. Vanity and pride continue to deceive. Sadly, even the church still carries the trappings self and sin, but God's mercy is on those who name Him! I will look upon all as lost without Jesus, as in desperate need of Good News. The off-chance that ignorace is acceptable to God is not worth the eternal risk. As to Christians, I regard us all as continuing to need Good News, for this sanctifies us, bringing us even closer to God. My friend, I lean toward a wider grace for the lost than many of my colleagues. I also lean toward a wider grace for the saved! ;-) This does not mean I think all will be saved in the end. No, God is righteous. But my knowledge of God and man leads me to the conclusion that God is more graceful than man! Blessings to you, and faith. May you return to God, and forgive the brethren, and receive the promised forgiveness. Then ask the Lord for a shepherd to give you pasture. In Christ Jesus, charis |

1245 | Another Angel Flying In Midheaven | Rev 14:6 | charis | 1261
Dear SSprin, I agree with your answer. BTW, the scriptures are 2 Corinthians 11:4 and Galatians 1:6. In Jesus.
1246 | Blue marbles roll faster than red ones | Rev 19:4 | charis | 647
Everyone knows that the Urantia is the text found at Pulin-Urleg, along with the Joshin-Ya scrolls. The contents are so revelatory that only a few are allowed access.
1247 | Blue marbles roll faster than red ones | Rev 19:4 | charis | 730
Dear bobmoy, I am sorry to lead you on. I was not sure how serious you were about Urantia. I am afraid I was 'pulling your leg' and 'jesting.' All I know is that the Urantia thing seems to be more closely linked with "Chariots of the Gods" than with Jesus Christ. If you need to know more about revelation from 'out there,' you are probably on the wrong forum.
1248 | Blue marbles roll faster than red ones | Rev 19:4 | charis | 748
Dear bobmoy, Of course you are free to express any opinion you like. I only meant that as this is generally considered to be a Bible-based discussion, it might be difficult to find others willing to discuss Urantia as truth. I have bothered to look into the information available on the internet, and cannot find any hard evidence that this is revelation or prophecy in accord with Scripture, except as noted by soladescriptura. I would also be interested to hear your defense of this spurious doctrine.
1249 | Have you ever looked at Urantia Book? | Rev 19:4 | charis | 794
Been there, done that! This is the exact challenge that a Mormon, a Jehovah's Witness, a Moonie or a Kokufu-no-Kagaku (Ogawa Ryuho's Science of Happiness)accolyte would use. I find it similar to someone who says, "You haven't really lived until you've played Russian Roulette. Sure, there is (one) drawback" I find that I have more than enough truth in the Bible, and after studying broadly various claims to 'enhanced' revelation, they are all spurious by nature. Any time I hear 'revelation of Revelation,' alarm signals go off in my spirit. Next thing said is that those who do not have this 'special' knowledge are inferior, and spiritually-challenged. It's a Devil's disguise-an angel of enlightenment. God has already sent His Spirit to guide and comfort His church. What more could we need than the Spirit of Christ? If you can come up with a short, compelling explanation of this cult, do it. Otherwise, thanks, but no thanks. May the Spirit of Jesus Christ give you peace.

Not stupid! Dear dlnash, The software is not stupid, just ignorant. I am sure that the saints at StudyBibleForum will improve things. Meanwhile, thank you for your great comments on Urantia. Let's talk about Jesus!
1252 | Who are the twenty four elders? | Rev 19:4 | charis | 836
Amen, my hyperbolist friend. I also believe that and deviation from truth should be called such and brought to the light of Christ. I, too, prefer the "pickles and rice" of Christian life. By the by, if you can help me get the software for a forum up and running in Japanese, I would be grateful ;-) Many blessings to you in Christ Jesus.
1253 | Who are the twenty four elders? | Rev 19:4 | charis | 871
No offence taken, dlnash. Idioms are a wonderful means of communicating the heart. Actually, many students of English know more idioms than Americans! (But their misuse or abuse can be comical or tragic) On a side note: My Dad, a pilot, used to say, "There are no stupid machines, only stupid operators." They must not have had computers back then :-)
1254 | Lure or Norse demon? | Rev 19:4 | charis | 997
Dear dlnash. Great answer! You had more courage than I to study about the Urantia baloney (bologna?). Thank you. By the bye, How did you mean 'troll?' I suspect you meant 'lure.' Bring it to the light, friend. (could you have meant Norse demon?) In Christ Jesus.
1255 | Have you ever looked at Urantia Book? | Rev 19:4 | charis | 999
LOL, jg8ball, absolutely ROFL! (Though you appear to be net-literate, some other readers may not understand, so I'll translate- Laughing-Out-Loud, Rolling-On the-Floor Laughing.) I was wearied by the discussion, so didn't look again until today. Great answer, good humor! (Even if you weren't being funny.) Actually, I suspect that only a few did the concocting, and found 390 plus gullible 'experts' to give it an air of legitimacy. They are always available, the majority of them living in Hollywood or Washington D.C. Thanks for your answers from the Bible, and a good dose of logic. In Christ Jesus.
1256 | Need more on THE HOUR and the ALL who he | Rev 20:5 | charis | 7362
Dear Isabel, If I may ask, what is the purpose of knowing the answer to this question? Please, I mean no harm. I understand that all believers should desire to know more about God, His plan, and how to live in Him. When I was a new believer, I was stricken with a curiosity about the end times. I am not that 'old' now, but I can no longer see that point in striving for that which is hidden, and will remain hidden until the return of the Lord. Please remind me. If possible, tell me where in the Word we are encouraged to seek after such answers. Again, please do not be upset with me. I see a lot of focus on these things, yet no one has explained from the Bible why they spend so much time on them. In Christ Jesus, charis |

1257 | Why did God send phophets | Rev 20:5 | charis | 46314
Dear hillbilly, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, I think you will find that the God spent a lot more time explaining how to live here and now than He did about signs pointing to future events. If you have settled all the here and now issues, and are living in accord with His instructions for you where He has placed you, then perhaps you have the spare time to ponder the end times. I, for one, have found that the entire Bible was written expressly for the purpose of edifying my present life in Christ, and that most conjecture about end time prophecy is just that: vain conjecture. Why did God write about past and future events? So we can learn to live in Him NOW! If your study of seals and horsemen actually (honestly!) enhances your walk with Jesus, then bless you! If, however, you are not a living testimony of the Gospel, then do that first! Also, please remember that NOBODY knows the times or dates, that is God's sovereign knowledge. In Christ Jesus, charis |

1258 | Is no action as bad as evil action? | Rev 21:8 | charis | 67763
Dear TBays, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Perhaps you are looking for Revelation 21:8. John speaks of the 'cowardly and unbelieving,' and the word for cowardly is 'deilos,' which means 'timid.' I could not find anything else close to this associated with the 'lake of fire.' May the Lord give understanding of His word for His purposes! In Christ Jesus, charis |

1259 | Who knows? | Rev 21:27 | charis | 7363
Dear saints, The Lamb's book of life. I think it is agreed that the book of life was written 'from the foundation of the world.' I have seen many acrid arguments about whose name is written and-or not written in it. My question is, "Who knows?" The obvious answer is, "Only God knows." Does anyone have a better answer? If not, then all of the 'spitting venom and caterwauling' is moot. As far as I can see, God has not chosen to share with us this knowledge. We have a job to live in Him, and encourage others to do so by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I see that a lot of Christians are wasting their precious time with the pursuit of pure theory (and fancy) rather than studying God (theology). If we know about God, we wil know how to live in Him, and with His people. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 KJV. If the result of our study is division, strife, and unfruitful speculation, then we are serving the thief. If the result of our study is unity, fellowship and love, then we are serving the Lord. In Jesus' name, charis |

1260 | Who knows? | Rev 21:27 | charis | 7375
Dear Tim, I agree with every point you made, a-f. So, without a good deal of extrapolation and conjecture, none of these points are available to us, now. Is that true? None of the references concerning the book of life are 'usable' to us now, except as an encouragement to do what we can in our Christian walk to serve God in faith and faithfulness. I guess that was my point, and your statements of fact seem to bear out my thoughts. Thank you, brother, for a simple, Scriptural answer. In Christ Jesus, charis |
