Hi Doc No affiliation with Church of Christ (Past Present or Future). It really intrigues me though as to why you would ask this question? lightedsteps |

123 | Is Salvation lump sum? | Heb 7:25 | lightedsteps | 220122
Hi Doc I have felt most comfortable in the Non Denominational realm for some time. Although this too has become a denomination unto itself. The particular congregation would best be described as being gift oriented. As far as my questions they were nothing more than that my questions. I don't have an agenda or any ulterior motives. Being a born again Christian I'm trying my best to have the closest relationship with God possible. Whenever I have a question about something I ASK. As far as my writing style it's all my own I just want to make sure I am fully understood. Being a two finger typist I have a lot of time to think about the words I use to express myself. Proofreading is the final step where I attempt to refine and hone what I am trying to convey for the greatest understanding possible with the least chance for ambiguity using my limited means. This tool we call the computer is nothing more than a tool. The term use to be garbage in garbage out that term still rings true. This tool is inadequate in conveying to others what we are saying or what we mean without the other abilities we have like facial expressions or tone of voice. We have to rely on the language we all speak but we should not be limited in the expression of that language by a limited vocabulary. lightedsteps |

124 | What day are we COMMANDED to gather? | Heb 10:25 | lightedsteps | 220519
Hi Searcher56 There isn't anywhere where it specifically says "I command that you gather together." But there is another word that means the same thing. ( ASSEMBLING) In the first church they assembled on the Sabbath most likely because they were Jews and it was their tradition to assemble on that day. But then the ranks were filled with Gentile believers some say that Constantine changed the day to Sunday while others say it was the Pope. Be that as it may they did gather / assemble. There is even a religion who's foundation is gathering on the Sabbath (Saturday) based on the (COMMAND) The fourth Commandment - - to keep the Sabbath day holy. Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. ON THE OTHER HAND Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. No gathering or assembling mentioned here so we can either be legalistic about keeping the Sabbath day holy and assemble or we can be legalistic and not gather calling it a tradition. "But let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." I see that this question you asked is 9 yrs. old but it was reopened and I had two cents:-) Grace be unto you lightedsteps |

125 | Is James 4:3 completely true? | James 4:3 | lightedsteps | 223282
Hello biblenovice Welcom to the forum With "LUSTS" being the operative word, you have missed the context of the passage where the word is used. IMO you cannot use this as the reason you did not receive from God. Look at Jas. 4:1-5 then understand the context of the passage. What were the people in these passages asking for? If you are working in the name it, and claim it realm, then you can't expect a car with a 14 yr. old heater to work properly, mine didn't, and God held me responsible for it. There are some things in life that "WE" need to take the responsibility for, like spending the money HE has provided, for the things we need. So you see, in a different way, HE did supply for your needs, by answering your prayer, before you asked. Been there, done that, then HE changed my diaper, and said grow up, and start walking in faith. Only by taking what He has already given to us, can we show ourselves as faithful stewards. God doesn't micro manage our lives for us, HE isn't our slave, "WE" are HIS. Did you as a parent, always give your son what he asked for, if not why not? In your giving an allowance to your son for the things he needed, teaching him responsibility, if he then had enough money for a new tire for his bike, but came back to you, asking for you to fix the tire, would you? There are lots of other reasons given in the bible, for why God does not answer prayer. But your question is answered by a simple, "It Is Your Responsibility" Grace be unto you lightedsteps |

126 | Is looking at porn a sin if ur single? | James 4:17 | lightedsteps | 220894
Hi Bobtanner31 Porn in any fashion, or media has only one objective, putting you into the position of lust. It causes those that look at it, either in books or film, to get hooked on it, just as much as any drug. The industry producing porn, knows exactly how or what viewers want to see, thereby getting repeat business. To answer your question, yes it is wrong, the Matt.5:28 verse from Brad, is right on. From that scripture it is Adultery, and lust. Because anybody watching, will find it difficult to not return. Porn even for a married couple is still wrong, for all of the same reasons. Lastly, if you have come here asking the question, then you already know it is wrong. Grace be unto you lightedsteps |

127 | Jesus time in Hell | 1 Pet 3:18 | lightedsteps | 221514
1) When Jesus died for us on the cross, He then went to Hell for us. (Right)? 2) During the time Jesus was in Hell, He preached The Gospel to those there didn't He? 3) Weren't there people that rose from the dead, on Easter Sunday when Jesus was resurrected? I'm looking for the scriptures that will answer these questions. lightedsteps |

128 | Jesus time in Hell | 1 Pet 3:18 | lightedsteps | 221533
Hi Bradk first you say "There is simply nothing in scripture to support the notion that Jesus went to Hell" I concur with your assessment, but where then were the souls of the dead from Adam, to Christ while awaiting judgement, other than (The Bosom of Abraham) (Hell, Hades, Sheol) Was there a holding place of separation for those before Christ, for lack of a better word - (Hell). Then you post 1 Peter 3:19 in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison Matt. 27:52, 53, 52) The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53) and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. "It says nothing about Him going to Hell. We don't know exactly where He went". Again I have to concur with you. Where then was this prison, where Jesus made this proclamation to those spirits? The word being used is, (Prison) which infers some place, and some form of punishment, even if it is only separation. Then the tombs which were opened, where were those spirits being held until Christ? Another controversial scripture that goes with 1 Pet. 3:19 Eph. 4:9 Now this expression, "He ascended," what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? Peter also speaks in Acts 2:27, in relation to the Psalm of David 16:10,11 Acts 2:27 Because you will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor allow your Holy One to undergo decay. These three places in scripture from Paul, Peter and David, speak of the lower parts of the earth, and His soul in Hades. If the principal we are to follow is, that we interpret the unclear passages of scripture, from those that are clear, where then are the clear passages you speak of? Grace be unto you lightedsteps |

130 | Lucifer's Flood | Rev 12:15 | lightedsteps | 220735
Hi beenydu These are the only scriptures I could come up with where Satan is mentioned with a flood. Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the (ENEMY) shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. Rev 12:15 And the (SERPENT) cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the (DRAGON) cast out of his mouth. This is Lucifer Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
