122 | Do the dead praise God? | Luke 16:23 | Val | 215096
Dear Humility, the reason death for a christian is called sleep is because eternity for them is not death. The unsaved however will experience two deaths. The death from this earth and the death to eternity. Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Sincerely, Val |

Dear Shane, it was a place called Sheol which contained two compartments. One was Paradise also called Abraham's bosom and the other was Hades. Paradise was closed as Ephesians states He took them with Him to heaven. Eph 4:8 Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." Dear fireout, Ephesians states Eph 4:8 Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." therefore, we take it that he proclaimed his victory and took the believing saints which were in Abraham's bosom with Him to heaven. Sincerely, Val |

127 | No man can God and live. | Heb 1:3 | Val | 215088
Dear Humility, with a person like you mentioned, sometimes it is best just to state plainly the gospel which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A person who does not have the spirit of God could not comprehend the bible because it is spirtually discerned. Only after an individual believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord does he begin to understand the living word. You can always share the love of Christ with them and how your life has changed since following Him. I have always been taught to keep the focus on the cross and the love of God. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Val
128 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Val | 215008
Bibleman, I strongly suggest it is your obligation to call the authorites and advise them of the state of your friend. The local police or sheriff's office need to be called immediately before any harm is done to human life. Do not delay, this is serious.

133 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Val | 214918
It may have been because Abraham wanted to know how it was that God would bless all the families of the earth through his seed as promised in genesis 12:3. John 8:56 may refer to Abraham's understanding for in offering his son,ABrahM would have had a lively figure of the future offering of the SOn of God as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Dear wos, thank you so much. I thought you did a super job of stating your view and used cross references to explain it. This is what I have been seeking all day. Now I can study these passages. Thank you so much. Your sister in Christ, val
135 | Is tithing a command for chriatians? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Val | 214896
Dear wos, I agree. I do not want to debate either. Could you give me one verse of scripture in the old testament and tell me how you interpret it. Do you interpret the abrahamic covenant literally? If not why not? I don"t understand how that's a bad thing. How do you explain the promise God made to give Abraham and his descendants the land and called it an everlasting covenant? Again, I am not a dispensationalist. Just trying to understand truth for myself. Thanking you in advance. Val
136 | Is tithing a command for chriatians? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Val | 214886

137 | Is tithing a command for chriatians? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Val | 214873
Dear Beja, I am up for the challenge. We can start anywhere you want, New Testament or Old Testament. I was particularly wanting to look at the passages you hang your hat on so to speak that you feel prove your viewpoint. I really am trying to understand your thoughts on this topic. Sincerely, Val

Dear Beja, thank you for your willingness to discuss these scriptures. I have admired your explanations of parts of scriptures to the questioners in former discussions. Of course it is ok to disagree and not break fellowship on this particular topic. I would like to discuss it civilly and perhaps both of us could learn from the discussion. As to your comments on dispensational view point, I must say this leaves me personally with more confusion as I do not fully understand the label. Since it appears you have a bone to pick with them I would suggest you find one of the best ones you can and have a go with them. Rather than trying to label each person as to their answers seems like an unnecessary endeavor. Anyway, enough on that could we just stick to the scriptures and discuss them and leave the labels out of it and just maybe I can follow your thoughts. Thanking you in advance for that consideration. I am in full support of the nation of Israel and the danger I see in interpretations that say that God is through with Israel is upsetting for a variety of reasons. Some of them though not exhaustive for myself personally is the prophecies which direct a future plan for Israel as a nation, secondly, God Himself somewhere said that Israel is the apple of His eye, Thirdly, we are told that God Himself will judge nations as to how they treat Israel. He did this in ancient times and I believe personally He will do it again. Fourthly, the covenant God made with Abraham is a promise that includes a land. This covenant is described as an everlasting covenant. Fifthly, the church is under the New covenant. This is a completely separate covenant, one which any person of any nation is under if they place their belief in Messiah Jesus. Sixthly, the promise God made with Israel/Jacob is one that He made with them not because of anything extraordinary in them but because of His name. Even though they rejected Messiah as a nation, He will keep His promise/covenant for His name. Seventhly, context is the first rule of interpretation, therefore, if God is dealing with the nation Israel and this is an example for people of all nations what is it that God wants us to know. I would say he wants us to love and worship Him as God, creator of heaven and earth, and not worship any other false god. Obedience to His commands which is what He required of his nation Israel is what He requires of us. Eighthly, many people who hold to a future for the nation of Israel view your interpretation that God is through with Israel dangerous because if your wrong then we may treat Israel in a way not according to God’s plan, i.e., making them give away their land, which God has given them. This would bring judgment to those who make them do this. Living in this land and fearing God’s wrath is the reason it is a dangerous view in my personal opinion according to the verses referring to the land. Ninthly, the view that Paul is seeing Israel and the church as two distinct things; yes he does. The Ephesians book explains the mystery of the church; jew and gentile in one body. He is speaking of individuals which make up the church not nations. Tenthly, the book of Galatians explains what genuine faith is and how it is obtained. Abraham was a man of faith and this is explained. It has always been by grace through faith. It is by grace, a gift, something that God did by providing His Son Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins and raised Him up the third day showing His satisfaction with the perfect sacrifice of Jesus the Lamb of God. Faith is how we obtain this gift and Paul shows Abrahams faith in his obedience to God by taking his son to the mountain and offering him there believing the promise of God making him a great nation and to do that God would raise Isaac from the dead if need be. So those who had a faith like Abraham are the true Israel. We know God has always had a believing remnant and not all who are in the nation of Israel had true faith, i.e. those whom God destroyed in the wilderness for their unbelief. I will look at Philippians 3:3 later. If you would like to pursue each scripture individually that is what I am best at. I have given you the big picture of my interpretations of my studying. We can look at each point you stand on in scripture and discuss it. That is the only way I know how to study the bible. Your sister in Christ - Val |

140 | Is tithing a command for chriatians? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Val | 214854
Dear Beja, there is an inhouse debate in christendom as to this topic. To declare that you have it right because you have read the scriptures thoroughly is a rather bold statement. Many including myself believe that your interpretation is a dangerous one. You reference that Paul teaches this. May I ask you to explain this statement with appropriate verses and your comments. Sincerely, Val
