121 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85842
I will mention that there is no such scripture that says a woman should not be a pastor. We infer it from the scriptures instructing the elder, bishop, as addressed to men to therefore exclude women as a consideration in the mind of Paul. So we can say that it is "inferred" in scripture that a pastor be a man. It is not really fair to say the scripture CLEARLY says a woman should not pastor. I believe the inferrance is enough, but I do not say that it is conclusive. I am open to more light (but only from the scriptures) I would not attend a church in America where the woman was the pastor and that by choice. I would not have a problem with a temporary situation where say the pastor of an independant church went home to be with the Lord and the wife how had been involved in ministry with her husband served as pastor until another male pastor was chosen. I would have a problem with a church that chose to keep a female pastor indefinitely. I am not 100 percent sure I am right about being that way. I am open to the Lord to show me if I am proud or if this is something that is not from Him. I want to follow the Lord and not men, I want to adhere to the correct interpretation of scripture and not misinterpretations based on personal prejudice. When it comes to seeking the Lord in holiness and wanting myself and my church to be under a godly leadership who seeks only the fulness of Jesus Christ, I would rather have a holy woman pastoring than and compromising flesh ensnared man. What I am saying is that the Word of God does give us clear direction, and it is a direction that is full of the Spirit, not legal rules that do not point to Christ. If you were in a situation where you had to choose between a man that you knew (but it had not been made public) had a porn addiction, and a woman that lived holy and pure before the Lord and of course had the gifts of pastoring, then God would expect you to choose the way of holiness and not compromise. Let us think in light of all the scriptures and not one we think says a woman should not pastor, when it really says no such thing. But again.. I believe a woman should not pastor IF there is a man who is able. But don't let that "order" of things cause you to miss the will of the Lord in certain circumstances and judge a woman's ministry as not "of God" and find yourself in opposition to the Lord, because of dogmatic stances where the scripture is not dogmatic. There is nothing more important than determining what is God's will by the scriptures. But let us not go beyond what the scripture says when we claim the scripture as our authority. I am not trying to bring controversy but balance. Interesting thing is that the of all the most holy women I have ever known in the church, who were gifted to teach and preach (and some better than many pastors) none of them wanted to pastor. :) |

122 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85839
Part 2 of 2 These false teachers are motivated by the same demons that motivated false teachers in the OT, such as Balaam, and Cain. Jude says that there were false teachers that contented with Enoch about the coming of the Lord, saying it would not happen. He also says that these false teachers still teach the same thing that Balaam taught in his counsel. What was that? Balaam told the Moabite king that the way to defeat the Israelites was to get them to compromise by marrying Moabite women. The Error of Cain was more than just killing his brother, but was the counsel behind getting the sons of God (Adam¡¦s Camp) to marry the daughters of men (Cain¡¦s Camp) thus corrupting in a short time the whole world living only Noah and his family left righteous. So the false teachers in Judes day were the Gnostics teaching the same thing, the Nicolaitains who taught a doctrine similar to ¡§you can sin with the flesh and not with the spirit¡¨ thus turning the grace of God into lasciviousness. So the fitting example of a false teacher today that is motivated by the same powers of darkness at work since the days of Cain, are those that teach that we can sin and still go to heaven, or we can indulge in the flesh and just loose some rewards, or that we can commit fornication and our spirit be free. Yes there are false teachers like this and they start up churches every day. This is not anything like the ¡§word of Faith¡¨ camp that you mention. There are some such teachers that annoy me for their brash personalities, but they are not guilty of being a wandering star. Not until they say that Jesus is not Coming again, or that we have to do other things to be saved, like join their group do they cross the line into false teaching. It is not a false teaching because you do not agree with it. ƒº I have found that it does not take any prayer at all to notice what is wrong with others. What I mean is that there is no such spiritual gift as ¡§the gift of criticism¡¨ This comes naturally. We are all very good at it. I challenge you to pray for a person like Joyce Meyers for one week in your prayers, asking the Lord to take away all selfish criticism and give you only His heart on the matter. (That is if it is even something you need to deal with, if not one should keep their mouth closed about another, In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin). If after a week of praying for her on your prayer list, listen to her on the radio or TV through a whole message. Realize you do not have to agree with every tiny thing someone says for them to still be saved just like you. If you find that she is teaching salvation by any other means than Christ alone, or other gross false doctrine, then call her a false prophet and be done with it. I might get annoyed at some of the personalities, circus acts, and even misinterpretations of scriptures I hear from Faith teachers, but I also get restless when I hear the misinterpretation of scriptures from those that despise the Faith teachers. I do not believe that God wants us to claim financial wealth but I do not call those that teach that false teachers. The Lord Knows the Hearts. God knows whether the man really believes that is what the scripture says or whether he is a wolf in sheep¡¦s clothing. We can know if he is a wolf by his fruits. If you know that a preacher lives a holy life and is full of good works, and he teaches such things, he may just really believe that is what the scripture teaches, in which he would be wrong not to proclaim it. If Joyce really thinks Jesus had to suffer in hell, as strange as that sounds to you, that does not make her a false teacher. It may be a misunderstanding she has. But please be careful. I think a greater sin is being committed by the church today than that of ¡§Hyper-Faith¡¨ and that is ¡§Hyper-Criticism¡¨ The Hyper-Faith teacher if sincere will have their teachings (works I cor 3) tried at the Bema seat of Christ, if it is not eternal it will be burned up and they will suffer the loss of rewards (this is not about sin but teachings of teachers such as Paul, Apollos, Peter in that passage) The ¡§Hyper-Critical¡¨ person is in danger of hell fire, as Jesus said on numerous occasions. May we humble ourselves and extend grace to those that we do not agree with while maintaining a holy standard of purity and righteousness. Let us continue to lift up Jesus and leave the controversial subjects to the Lord to judge. |

123 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85838
Part 1 of 2 I have not read her books. Mainly because I find her teachings are basic daily walk of faith mostly directed toward the emotional issues women face. I have heard her many times on radio and TV and have never heard her say these things. So in all fairness the teaching she is known for is solid and biblical advice for godly living. To call her a "wandering star" and categorize her as a false prophet is a worse sin than what you might be accusing her of. We all have different views about what the descending into the lower parts of the earth means. In Jude the wandering stars and those that Peter and Jude both speak about are demonized false teachers that are hell bound. If you say that about Joyce you have gone too far in your judgments and I would remind you that this is the kind of judgment Jesus said to avoid. Do not take her views and say she is teaching salvation by anything other than Faith in Jesus Christ, because she isn't. If you differ in your views about what the lower parts of earth means, or what the prophesy of David and repeated by Peter.. "thou will not leave my soul in hell.." means.. then you have that right, but you should not call someone a false prophet that interprets it differently, these are areas that are not so clear as you imagine that they are to you. I cannot really tell you for sure what they mean or what "1 Peter 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;" means. I have a view, but it is not the only one. And I do not call those that disagree with me on that issue a false teacher. This kind of fundamentalism is far from the heart of Christ. If you listen to Joyce Meyers for a complete teaching, if you are born again yourself, you will bear witness with her spirit that she is your sister in the kingdom of God and regardless of your difference of interpretations on the mysterious issues, you will find she does not preach anything about the “descending” when sharing the gospel with the lost. Her invitations to the lost are simple and straight forward, repent, and believe on Christ and what He has done for you on the Cross. She does not go beyond that in her altar calls. As many times as I have heard her on TV or radio which has to number in the hundreds living in Dallas all my life, I can tell you that unless you had posted these partial quotes I would have never known she believed that. I want to make one final point. I am sure that if I searched the writings of any teacher alive today I would find something I think is a gross misinterpretation but I am not going to call them a false teacher unless they are saying that Jesus is not God in the Flesh, or saying that you can be saved some other way besides faith in Jesus Christ alone. Let us remember in our "false righteous indignation" (yes there is such a thing) that with what measure we judge others (especially in the church) with that same measure shall we be judged. If we declare a person a false teacher for a controversial area of interpretation, then we will be declared a false teacher when we say something about a scripture that is not 100 percent accurate. Remember we see through a glass darkly, all of us even those that write books to "expose" the teachers they do not agree with. May we be careful to judge nothing (from our own faulty opinions) before the time. 1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. The passage about wandering stars and false teachers… Jude 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. Is declaring eternal damnation for those that are such. If you read all of this passage and compare it with Peters reference of the same group you find there are certain patterns or similarities. 124 | can I have both? | Mark 11:23 | Scribe | 85784
both what? The prerequisite is to seek first His Kingdom. If you are consumed with Christ, there is nothing left for you to consume of yourself. If you are dead to self you are not concerned with self gratification. If Jesus said these things will be added to you if you first seek Him, and Jesus also said Take not thought for what you should eat or wear etc, then it is obvious that as you are busy seeking the Things of God He will take care of you. He will take care of your housing. If He as taken care of it, don't seek a bigger one, instead seek His kingdom, leave your physical needs up to him. Flee from the flase teachers of today that try and teach that material gain is the measure of faith. This is not the gospel but an anti-gospel and when the Lord comes back many of those that say they have faith will be told they have none. True Faith seeks His Kingdom, which is all about loving others and serving others, it is about seeing souls saved and delivered from sin. It is about being holy yourself and more like Christ day by day, whether you live in a tent or in a house. The true gospel says if you have more than you need, sell it and give to those that have need. It is harder for a rich man to enter into heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of the needle because, few rich will give their riches to those in need. Justification for hording wealth will ring from the rooftops until Jesus Comes, but many will be ashamed in that day. May God keep us from covetousness and help us give of our abundance to our brothers in need. |

125 | How do you "honor" lying parents? | Matt 23:9 | Scribe | 85779
The meaning of the commandment is that you should give them the honor of parents. If while growing up under their authority the child should respect their authority and not speak evil of them because they have rules. They are parents and have a duty to God to do their best, it is sinful for the child to act angrily toward them or hold bitterness because his flesh is being curbed by their rules. Now as an adult your duty is to show honor if the parents are old and feeble and need help. For instance, the parent may have lived in wickedness, they may not be a christian, but if they are old and feeble you are still to show honor in that these people were instrumental in bringing you into the world and took care of you when you could not take care of yourself, it is your duty to take care of them when they are old. If you do not you are guilty of not honoring your mother or father. If the parent is not feeble and is insisting that you agree with them about somthing that is foolish or sinful you can simply seperate from them without showing dishonor.
126 | Can I really have what I say? | Mark 11:23 | Scribe | 85774
Mark 11:20-26 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. It is amazing how much revelation is in the context and yet how often preachers build their doctrines of verses divorced from the context. If we see that unforgiveness will cause God not to hear us then we see that the idea of asking what we will has to do with a proper spiritual request. In my opinion we could say that if I were to ask the Lord to give me the ability to forgive someone I could be sure that if I have faith I will indeed have forgiveness for that person. Or if I ask that I could be free from a besetting sin, though it have deep roots like this fig tree, I can ask and believe and will see that thing dried up from the roots and be gone. If I say to this mountain obstacle that is blocking my growth in the Lord or my vision, (such as the log in my eye) be removed and if I have faith like the widow who continously went before the judge, I will have victory, I will be free, I will have whatsoever I ask. If a man asks for things that he may consume it upon his lusts, Jesus never meant that he would get that, James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. So we know that there is a balance, and what is that balance? Spiritual treasures, that is what we are to seek. I will claim a deeper walk of Love, what will you claim? :) |

127 | What is praying in the spirit? | 1 Cor 14:14 | Scribe | 85772
1 Corinthians 14:14-15 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. To pray in the spirit in this context is to pray in tongues. |

128 | How to get new language? | Mark 16:17 | Scribe | 85770
Dear jbw, Let's take a closer look at your question. When you say that "you heard" that you "must" speak in tongues. I have to ask where you heard this? Certainly not in the scriptures. I am not aware of a verse that says you MUST speak in tongues. There is one that says this... Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; So if you believe certain signs can follow you. To say one MUST speak in tongues we would have to say one MUST cast our devils to be saved. Now that would be a silly doctrine wouldn't it? Or one MUST drink deadly things. We know that Paul is an example of taking up a serpent unawares on the Island of Mileta and shaking it off and feeling no ill effects, so that others heard the gospel from him as a result. Shall we say that becuase God has promised to protect us even miracously on the mission field that one MUST take up serpents to be saved? I suggest that you read through the book of Acts and underline every reference to the baptism of the Holy Ghost and the gift of tongues. Then read 1 cor 12-14 and also Rom 12. After reading carefully and meditating on them allowing God to reveal things to your spirit, pray before and after and during your meditation. Then when you have a handle on all these scriptures tell me what you think the Word says. I will not add anything to the subject until you tell me what the Lord has shown you. But I must warn you to forget what men have taught you. Start fresh and study the scriptures only. May God Bless You as You Study His Word. Also I would like to add, concerning Baptism in the Name of Jesus or Father Son and Holy Ghost do a search on this post for my previous posts about what "in the name of" means. |

129 | What was the importance of flies? | Ex 8:21 | Scribe | 85765
It is possible that most of the plagues were a fitting judgement against things the Egyptians in their idolatry held sacred. For instance frogs being sacred to them might have been a message that, that which they worshipped in their idolatry the Lord gave them as their judgment. There has been research done to try and identify an Egyptian God for each of the plagues but I don't think it is that simple. Sort of like an abundance of gold in a famine among those that live their life chasing money would be a fitting judgment. The prophecies speak of a day coming when men will throw out their Gold in the streets because it cannot save them from the wrath that is upon them. |

130 | Rev. 19:10 - "spirit of prophecy"? | Luke 4:1 | Scribe | 85760
Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. The angel is saying that this whole prophetic book is a revelation of Jesus Christ, that all that it says speaks of the Glory of Christ, He is the one that is worthy of our worship. The Holy Spirit in our heart is given to us to testify of Jesus Christ. John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: Actually all prophecy even in the Old Testament has behind it the testimony of Jesus Christ. |

131 | Questions on the Divine Nature | 2 Pet 1:4 | Scribe | 85756
John 6:49-63 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. The Words of Christ hidden in our heart and a commitment on our part to obey them and live them (by His Grace and enabling power, or having faith that he will grant us what we ask, to make us into His image day by day) is the eating of the flesh and drinking of the blood. The lords supper is an act of faith that helps us "confess" what we beleive, but it is the internal prayer, commitment, and repentance, the exercise of faith to do what we know the Lord is showing us in His Word that is the actual spiritual eating of the body and blood. John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. If a man trusts in the act of taking the symbolic bread and wine as doing something to him, and then goes off to live the same as he did the day before indifferent to the areas of sin God has put his finger of conviction on, then that man is no more a partaker of the divine life as the man that does not eat the bread and wine and in all reality the calloused soul that trusts in the act of eating the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper to impart some magic on him while he continues to sin, is in danger of an early departure from this life. 1 Corinthians 11:29-30 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. The bread and wine of the Lord's Supper requires discernment.. (interpretation of it's true meaning) and the meaning is "I am going to go all the way with You Lord, dieing to myself and living unto Christ." We need this often confession and commitment and so it is good to do it everytime we meet. But if at anytime we are going through the motions without the internal commitment we are not profiting from the act but rather in danger of judgment. May God Bless You as You Study His Word. |

132 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85754
I did not actually address the concept of a woman being a pastor in my previous posts. I was focusing on a woman preaching or teaching in a church. Now we all know that teaching and preaching is done by more than just the pastor. However let's take a look at the concept of pastoring. I believe that it is God's plan for a man to pastor and a woman to pastor if she is the wife of the pastor. For instance if a woman is called and gifted to pastor she can do so under the authority of her husband as the senior pastor. This is very common among our churches. There are many great churches that owe their success to not just the ministry of the Male Pastor but to the Wife of the Pastor who does as much work in the area of counseling, teaching, and many other ministry gifts as her husband. And sometimes these wives of pastors teach better than their husbands. I know of a couple in my church, the husband and the wife both graduated from bible school. I have heard both teach. The wife is one of the best teachers I have ever heard, and very humble and submissive to the authority of her husband. As it relates to the image of Christ I think she is one of the better examples in our whole church. Let's look at this through the eyes of the Spirit of the Word and not the letter of the Law. Let's say you have a missionary woman that is in a country like Afghanistan and she is busy doing the Lord's work and many converts are coming to Christ. This scenario is very realistic and not a "what if" that does not occur, but one that is occurring now all over the world. This woman is ministering the Word to these new converts and for a while there is no man to be a pastor. You may call her a missionary, but in all truth she is acting as the pastor of the new congregation. If the Lord raises up a male pastor among them in time, then she will hand that over to him and continue with her calling. But to say she cannot lead that flock in the mean while is not for us to say. When we do that we are legalistic scribes and pharisees and are missing the point. If a woman in america just decides she will start a church and be the senior pastor, I do not think she is going to have many wise men among her congregation because they will not be comfortable with a woman pastor because of the scriptures that lead us to believe God's method is for men to be pastors. There are certain women in the church today that are trying very hard to bring to the church a new understanding of scriptures concerning women in ministry. These women believe that from the middle ages and even since the reformation that the scriptures concerning women have been misinterpreted. I personally do not think it is that complicated. In short I think God is not bound by legalistic rules concerning gender, but that God will use a woman any time He wants to and who are we to say He won't. But I believe that there is an order in the kingdom of God, that the man has been given authority to lead and serve the woman and that the woman should submit to the spiritual leadership of the man. If the woman ministers the word she should do so under the authority of the pastor. This does not mean a woman cannot preach in the pulpit. The Lord Jesus Christ brought us freedom from bondage, therefore whatever the concept of the women being under the authority of the man must mean it must be a concept of freedom. If you teach it in such a way that limits the womans ability to share the gospel with everyone she comes in contact with you are in error and missing the spirit of the teaching. God Bless You as You Study His Word. |

133 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85752
'According to a recently published interview with free-lance writer Ken Walker, however, Meyer contradictorily denies ever believing or teaching that Christ was born again in hell.(9) Maybe she realized it was error and changed her mind? I don't know if she believes this way, but it is possible she might have been confused by other teachers using the word in a persuasive way (but mistaking the meaning of "Firstborn") and that she has changed her views. Let's not write off those that are convinced they see something in the scriptures and are willing to take a stand on it. I respect a person that is willing to stand on what they think is scripture to the point of being maligned as a heretic over those that take a stand for things that are not in scripture so they will not get kicked out of their denomination. |

134 | seals and bowls happen at about the same | Rev 8:1 | Scribe | 85731
Revelation 8:1-2 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. There are some that say that the seventh seal, includes the next 7 trumpets, as the seventh trumpet includes the next seven vials, so that they are not chronological and followe each other sequentialy, then there are those that say that the seventh seal revealing the seven trumpets means that it is a repeat summary of events that were not covered in the angels narrative during the first pass of the seals and so he is explaining more things but tranfersing the same ground, and so with the seven vials. I think when you read the events under each that the chronological makes more sense. |

135 | need help .spiritual dryness | John 21:16 | Scribe | 85727
John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: Notice here that Peter who was called by Jesus as a shepherd, and told to feed the flock, has a revelation of feeding the flock being most importantly of all the Word of God. I cannot pass judgment on your particular church but I am speaking generally concerning why some churches are dry and boring and the members feel like attending is a test in endurance. A common reason is that the shepherd is either not called to feed the flock or is neglecting his chief duty. What does it mean to feed the flock. It is obviously a broader subject than what can be entered here in this short post, but I will summarize the picture of the shepherd that will not want for spiritual growth in his flock. If a man of God will make Prayer and the Ministry of the Word his chief concern so that he will shut himself up with God and allow the Holy Spirit to make him a broken and contrite vessel emptied of self and seeking only the Glory of Christ, and if he will study the word as a man that seeks treasure, then God will grant him not just another sermon but a fresh word from heaven, though the doctrine he preaches may be as old as the church, the freshness will come forth as a message from a prophet, and the people will be challenged to go all the way with Christ in a new way as never before. This is not something that God holds back from men, but few are willing to pay the price to seek it. As someone once said, "Salvation is indeed free, but everything else will cost you something." When Peter said to feed the flock he meant feed them the Word. Peter considered the Word more necessary than daily bread, (as the Lord said) and Peter said that as desperately as a newborn babe needs milk, so a saint needs the word to grow. (Which verse had nothing to do with preaching elementary messages or weak sermons, or to speak on the level of a Christian just saved yesterday, but this verse speaks of the comparison of the desperate need for the Word of God to survive. In other words teaching a deep message of an abundance of scriptures and doctrinal truth is just as much feeding the sheep as preaching the simple messages we call "milk" but which Peter never called milk. This verse is telling us how important it is to eat the Word. If we understand this we will understand that if our sermons are too light and fluffy and contain little scripture, we are not feeding the flock at all. Some would say.. but the new Christians cannot handle the "strong meat and must be given milk," which is not from this verse bur another context where Paul is rebuking them for that. If Paul rebukes them for it, it is not our goal to keep our flock in that condition. In public preach on the level of the mature and the immature will grow up into it by hearing it. This lesson seem so hard for so many to learn. The majority of churches are anemic when it comes to feeding the flock the Word of God. We would call meat what Paul called the first principles of the oracles of Christ. I do not say any of these things with criticalness but with grief in my soul, knowing that the return of Christ is at the very doors, and it is high time to awake out of sleep and preach a challenging message that will shake the people from their indifference before it is too late. The pastors are taught to be loving and kind to the point that they are afraid to preach a challenging message of repentance. It is not the Love of God shed abroad on our hearts by the Holy Ghost that makes them this way, but a human sympathy not wanting to hurt any ones feelings. This at times is commendable but we must learn to have the Love of God motivate us and give way to human emotions that make us uncomfortable when it comes to rebuking in love the indifference in the flock. When the pastor does this with a heart of Love the people welcome it and they are helped to repent and break free of the chains of lethargy that have them bound. They will love the pastor for it, and sheep will come from every part of the city to join such a church. |

136 | MAny are called - not All are called??? | Matt 22:14 | Scribe | 85702
Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. The Context of the verse makes the meaning very clear. Jesus gives a parable of a wedding invitation. The call went out to the Jews and they rejected it and even beat and killed the prophets, The call now goes out to the gentiles and everyone else.. Matthew 22:8-9 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. The Call is to all which is not a contradiction of saying many. If the call is to all, then it is also true that the call is to many. And yet few are chosen. Now here is the sobering part. there are many that come to the wedding thinking they are ready for it. And they are rejected.. I personally believe that it has to do with faith in Christ which cleanses us from sin and makes us live holy. The Cheap Grace message that says holiness is not important, leaves some with a false sense of security that they can indulge in their sins and still be let into the wedding feast in that day because they "go to church" and they "believe in Jesus" which is not the same kind of faith that saves. |

137 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85701
Part 2 0f 2 Now to add to this, we see here that prophesying in the church was allowed and encouraged by Paul but told to do it in an orderly manner two or three at the most and let the other judge, or in other words he says, the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet and so the other has the power to wait to give his prophecy and not interrupt another. We have heard different interpretations of what this prophesy means. Some say it is like the charismatic gift of prophesy spoken by the modern charismatic church, others say it is the same as preaching the word. Some say it is neither and is passed away. That is another path to explore, but for now consider that regardless of your view, it was certainly some form of speaking and and had to do with ministry. Now if Paul had taught that a woman was not allowed to partake of this then Paul would be contradicting the Holy Spirit, and we know that is not true. Let me give another verse to help make this clear. Acts 21:8-9 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. This reference in Acts is in no way a negative about the daughters but a glorification of God. This is a testimony of the Holy Spirit continuing to be poured out on all flesh as Peter preached in Acts 2. I have never heard a scholar yet (though there may some) that have ventured to suggest that these daughters prophesied with any different prophesy than that which is spoken of by Paul in 1 Cor 14 when he is giving instruction on how to prophesy in order in the church. So we have a meeting of saints, a local assembly here in Acts 21 and we have 4 daughters of Philip who prophesy with the same gift. Now these are women, and they are speaking in ministry of prophesy in the church. If you are going to say that was different because it was not preaching or teaching, then you have to at least change your view that prophesy is the same as teaching and preaching the word. If you’re willing to do that then you are going to have to deal with what this prophesy is that Paul said we should all earnestly desire. But again regardless of your view of prophesy, it was speaking and it was ministry and it was in the church. So Paul could not have meant that women cannot minister in the Church, but rather they should not be disruptive. 1 Corinthians 14:27-28 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 1 Corinthians 14:29-30 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. All three exhortations to keep silent or not speak is not about a ban on ministry by gender but an instruction on how to minister in order. We can also read verses like these Acts 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. That show that Priscilla was used to teach a man that was considered mighty in the scriptures. We have to also look at the whole spirit of New testament Theology. We know that Jesus freed us from the legal restrictions spelled out under the Levitical law of such things as the woman having to be secluded at certain times of the month and many other burdens too numerous to mention. We know that Jesus brought to us who are born again an understanding concerning a walk of Love that will fulfill all the Law. We know that it is not within the spirit of the Gospel of Christ to put women into a legal rule of bondage that has no meaning or purpose. This is why it is so obviously a misinterpretation. When men quote “women should keep silent in the church” and “I suffer not a woman to teach” and carry it out as some kind of New Testament Law after the order of the Levitical Laws, they are obviously taking the phrase out of context and also adding their own understanding such as “Teach the Word” which is not what it says. May God bless you as you study His Word. |

138 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85700
Part 1 of 2 This is a good question, and one that often divides the saints. I do not think that Paul is saying a woman is never called by God to teach the Word. This is not the spirit of this instruction in 1 Tim 2:12. The context does not say anything about keeping silent in religious assemblies as the amplified squeezed in. There is such a verse and I will list it below. However this verse is about an attitude of a woman usurping authoritiy over a man. Many have interpreted this as Preaching or Teaching the Bible. That if a woman teaches the Bible she is usurping authority over a man. I do not see that in this text, nor do I believe if a woman teaches me a bible lesson is she usurping authority over me (a man). Maybe if you are raised believing such things you may have some such feeling of intimidation but I don't believe it is coming from the scripture. Now on the other hand I have seen many women usurping authority over men, their husbands most often, and scolding them and teaching them as if he is one of her children, and doing it publicly which is a very unbecoming thing for a christian woman to do, but many do it, out of habit and because it is part of the flesh patterns of the woman to do so. It is as necessary today as it was in Pauls day to tell the woman not to teach or usurp authority over the man. Now if a woman is ministering in the church and she comes across authoritative over men and tries to scold them, then the same truth applies and she should quit. That does not mean women cannot speak or teach in the church. Remember we have to get all the verses on these things to see the whole picture. I know that there are many who are going to be opposed to what I am saying, but I challenge you to examine the verses I give and carefully submit a better answer to them than I am giving. We know that Paul was inspired and that what he wrote was the Word of God and we know that the word of God does not contradict itself. So let us look at another often used scripture where Paul speaks of women being silent in the church 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. This is often used in addition to the verse in 1 Tim to try and interpretn 1 Tim 2:12 That that they are saying the same thing. I think they are different. This verse in 1 cor 14:33 does not mean a woman cannot talk in church. I don’t know of any church anywhere among the main evangelical denominations that tell the women to stop talking when they step through the doors of a church. But who among us believe in letting women or men ask questions aloud in the middle of a Pastor’s sermon disrupting the Pastor and bringing a spirit of contention in the service? This is what the women were said to be doing, (though I am not sure any of us know for sure). This confusion is the same kind of confusion Paul was preaching against throughout 1 Cor 14 when he mentions the speaking in tongues without and interpreter or the prophesying out of order, in both thost cases he says let him (not her but it applies to both) keep silent in the church. He used the same terminology in the same chapter speaking of taking a more submitted role and not trying to take over the service with your tongues, prophesy, or questions so that all are listening to you but not being edified by it. He makes it clear that the tongue could be given but only with an interpreter so that all may be edified, and even then in an orderly manner and not too many, and he makes it clear that prophesy can be given but by two or three and in an orderly manner, and so when he gets to the women, it is the same thing, not that they should never be allowed to teach which is a gross paraphrase and commentary and an inaccurate interpretation of what he said, but that they should not ask questions aloud causing confusion. 139 | Don't be deceived | Gen 2:9 | Scribe | 85676
In my opinion, this verse prooves to me that Satan was perfect in Eden, and then fell. Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezekiel 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. There are those that say that this Eden was not the garden but some other heavenly Eden. And so they reconcile this verse with the idea of a past rebellion before the garden of Eden. Maybe that is so, but I do not read of any such Eden in the scripture, so it is just speculation. Unless someone has hints of it in the scripture somewhere that I have never seen. Untill I hear of a heavenly Eden in the scriptures I have to take it as a reference to the Garden of Eden and a Divinely inspired prophecy concerning satan in that garden before he fell. This would put his fall in the garden and also explain the reference to the mount of God. We do not really know that Eden was near the current Tigris and Euphrates junction before entering into the Persian Gulf. That never made sense to me. The river flowed out of the Garden and parted into four. We keep hearing that the Garde was somewhere in Iraq where the Euphrates and Tigris join. That is oposite the facts. The River flowed out of the Garden and divided into four, not joined into one. So the garden must have been somewhere further North or west from Iraq and the Tigris and Euphrates joining again is inconsequential. Unless we are saying that the river flowed from the gulf norhtward, and that is not that way it works is it? So what am I getting at? It is possible the Jewish tradition that that Adam was formed in the same area of the temple mount is true. It is possible that Jerusalem is the location of the garden of eden, in which case this reference to satan wanting to ascend the sides of the north coincides with the antichrist standing in the holy place in the end times. Something to think about. We often repeat what we were taught (Satan fell eons before the garden in some ancient rebellion) without ever investigating where the teaching comes from. Then when we do we do not find any supporting scriptures except for the garden story. Then we have a choice, keep spouting the party line, or ask the Lord to give us faith and boldness to speak only what the word says and nothing more. And even then we must always allow room for more light not being dogmatic about things that are not clear in scripture. Despite what the "reformers" might say, there are many truths in the scriptures that have not been fully explored and one of the reason is that many are afraid to depart from any preconcieved interpretations even when they feel the check in their spirit that there are not any scriptures to back such an interpretation, or they begin to see a more clear picture than the ancient medieval church and yet they are afraid to add anything to it, being taught that all doctrines have been exhausted and there is nothing new to add. May God Bless You in you Study of His Word. |
