Hello Deny, That helps, thanks for the clarification. I've been a believer in the Lord Jesus for 25 years:-) If you'd like, please read my user profile. I'm more than willing to help someone who's serious in their faith and seeks to grow in the Lord. The format of your questions appeared to be very "canned". If they were not, my apology:-)The Forum gets a multitude of individuals who are only seeking quick answers, not to actually learn. May God continue to direct your growth and discipling as, "you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food." 123 | Easter | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 227408
Hi Julia, I'm the other Brad, so if you don't mind... :-) To my knowledge, Easter is not about worshipping any pagan goddess- despite what the JW's say! Easter is about CELEBRATING the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ! He is Risen, is He not? (1 Cor. 15:14) Since the JW's deny the Diety of Christ, they must therefore, dismiss Easter as any type of celebration affirming his Divinity! Does this make sense? The Watchtower Organization has only been around since the late 19th Century! What did they uncover(?) that the rest of the Church missed for 1900 Years? Nothing. Ask him why they deny that Jesus is God when scripture- and the Church- have affirmed His Diety! Jesus clearly told the Pharisees in John 8:58," "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." (NASB) The Jews picked up stones to stone Him, for they clearly knew what He was affirming- to be God! Similarly, after Jesus told Thomas, "Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing." Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:27-28) Thomas certainly knew WHO Jesus was. Unfortunately, many well-meaning JW's and your husband have been systematically deceived by their Watchtower Organization! Their theology is built upon Arianism- (the denial that Christ is Divine) which was soundly defeated at the Council of Nicea in 325! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

126 | The Trinity | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 228589
Essential Doctrines: The Trinity Augustine said that anyone who denies the Trinity is in danger of losing his salvation, and anyone who tries to understand it is in danger of losing his mind. It is not fully explained in Scripture. There are those doctrines essential for salvation and those essential for Chritian orthodoxy. Is belief in the Trinity essential for salvation? Why or why not? |

128 | what day should the sabbath be? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 229021
Hello Holmes, I believe scripture itself answers your question. I'll give a (very) brief summary: In Matt 12:1-8 , the Pharisees were seeking to charge the disciples with doing what was not lawful on the Sabbath. Jesus answered them in 12:8, "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." Paul writes in Col 2:16, "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--" (NASB) So, as I see it, the Sabbath is a particular day of the week, but is found and fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ! It is Him we seek, and Him we worship! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

129 | explain why does God sometimes ignore ou | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 229571
Hello Sylvia, Welcome to the Forum. Great question! You are not alone in your observation. If you read the book of Job, he asks the same questions. Job basically asks "where is God?" in chapter 23. In 24:1ff, he asks, "Why are times not stored up by the Almighty, And why do those who know Him not see His days?" (NASB) The wicked prosper and the righteous and poor are taken advantage of. But then he concludes that, "He provides them with security, and they are supported; And His eyes are on their ways." This apparent apathy of God toward the wicked is seen continually through scripture. In Jeremiah 12:-4 we read: 12:1 Righteous are You, O LORD, that I would plead my case with You; Indeed I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease? Jer 12:2 You have planted them, they have also taken root; They grow, they have even produced fruit. You are near to their lips But far from their mind. Jer 12:3 But You know me, O LORD; You see me; And You examine my heart's attitude toward You. Drag them off like sheep for the slaughter And set them apart for a day of carnage! Jer 12:4 How long is the land to mourn And the vegetation of the countryside to wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, Animals and birds have been snatched away, Because men have said, "He will not see our latter ending." In Ps. 37:1-2, We're comforted to know, "Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb." (NASB) I think often, while we tend to be professing theists, we live more like we're deists- that God is uninvolved and has left us to our own demise. Yet, the God who created us and loves us also cares for us, "...casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." (1 Pet. 5:7) I hope this helps, BradK |

130 | Does God hate the devil? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 230055
Hello Huldah, I'd agree with brother Beja! While one of God's attributes is indeed love, he's not JUST love! As A.W. Pink notes, we must remember, "There are many today who talk about the love of God, who are total strangers to the God of love. The Divine love is commonly regarded as a species of amiable weakness, a sort of good-natured indulgence; it is reduced to a mere sickly sentiment, patterned after human emotion. Now the truth is that on this, as on everything else, our thoughts need to be formed and regulated by what is revealed thereon in Holy Scripture." Wrath is also one of God's attributes. Pink notes on this, "Now the wrath of God is as much a Divine perfection as is His faithfulness, power, or mercy. It must be so, for there is no blemish whatever, not the slightest defect in the character of God; yet there would be if "wrath" were absent from Him! The wrath of God is His eternal detestation of all unrighteousness. It is the displeasure and indignation of Divine equity against evil. It is the holiness of God stirred into activity against sin. That Divine wrath is one of the perfections of God is not only evident from the considerations presented above, but is also clearly established by the express declarations of His own Word. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven" (Rom. 1:18)." [A.W. Pink The Atributes of God] Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

132 | Is Belief in the Trinity Required? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 230219
Beja and Forum: And may I add these words of wisdom. "Augustine rightly insists that all trinitarian theology must arise from a heart and mind trained in humility. Trinitarian reflection can only blossom in a person who realizes the enormity of what is being attempted and our place before God. Humans can only safely speak of God from their knees. Augustine urges us to “remember who we are, and of Whom we speak. Let this and that, or whatever appertains to the nature of God, be with a pious faith embraced, with a holy respect entertained… . For it is not of such a nature as it can ascend into the heart of man; but the heart of man must itself ascend to it.” How, in fact, can human beings adequately speak of God? The subject is too high. “For if you have been able to comprehend what you would say, it is not God; if you have been able to comprehend it, you have comprehended something else instead of God. If you have been able to comprehend Him as you think, by so thinking you have deceived yourself.” [Olson, R. E., and Hall, C. A. (2002). The Trinity. Guides to theology (47–48). 134 | do you need to fasten | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 231135
Hi Bill, So you "don't think it's required to fast to make it to Heaven but it probably would be a good idea"?? What does that mean? Are you honestly implying it would probably be a good idea to fast- just to make sure you get into heaven? That would be a "works-based" salvation and not by grace through faith! Is this what you truly believe? Sounds like major guess work? It is either required or it isn't! Your lack of understanding in regards to Soteriology is quite evident. Might I strongly suggest that if you don't see any scriptures requiring this practice, it probably isn't! But either be diligent to study and know for certain before you offer half-cocked advice/answers. If you don't know, please don't guess. Guess work in regards to the doctrine of salvation (Soteriology) provides no real answer or assurance for anyone. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hello atterbury, I appreciate your repy. As a long-time user of the Forum, there was no put down intended to Bill, but rather a calling for an account of what he posted. I always address the poster by their screen name- which is a standard form of acknowledgment and greeting. Furthermore, I sign off quoting Eph. 4:15 as that is my hearts' intent:-) His answer had no scriptural basis and was just... a guess. As this is a public forum ALL of our posts are subject to scrutiny by others- myself included. When we register to and post on this Forum, there's an implied consent to it's Terms of Use (TOU). Specifically: To adhere to StudyBibleForum's intended purpose, please read the following before submitting a post: 1. This post is biblically based and whenever possible, I have included Bible references to support it. 2. This post is not intended as a personal attack on the authority of the Bible or on other users of this forum. 3. This post is not submitted as an effort to foster divisiveness, ill-will, dissension or other disruptions to this forum. 4. I have carefully proofread my post and believe it represents my best efforts. That being said- and I say this under due consideration- I'd rather have a "new Christian" discouraged than lead into error by a misunderstanding of a major doctrine such as Soteriology. I hope that better clarifies where I'm coming from and why I responded as I did. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

137 | Balance: Faith and Works | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 231164
Hi Bill, Could you clarify a statement you made? You said, "We should look at our relationship with our Lord and Saviour as our working off a debt as He paid for our sins for our very souls. I think this is made so clear in the Lord's Parable of the debtor in prison, Matt 18. That's why I think it's important for us as christians to adopt a ministry of some kind if it's nothing more than cleaning the building on a regular basis." Are you suggesting salvation entails us workig to repay this debt to our Lord? Are you suggesting we to do this in order to maintain salvation? Or, are you suggesting we do this in order to show we are saved (cf Eph. 2:10)? I hope you're not implying that we do this to merit (earn) any justification before God? 138 | When is forgiveness not necessary? | Bible general Archive 4 | BradK | 231185
Hi Bill, A couple things in your post bother me as they are not consistent with scripture. 1. You said "IF we hope to get forgiveness for our sins, we MUST be just as willing to forgive others." I can only assume you meant this in it's absolute sense pertaining to salvation. We don't get forgiveness (of our sins) because we forgive others. it's not something we merit based on what WE do. Eph. 1:7 clearly states, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace". Our forgiveness is conditioned by being "in Him" through faith, and it is "according to the riches of His grace", not by what we do or don't do! You are not considering the analogy of faith in presenting your statement. Have you read and studied the book of Romans? 2. I take issue with your implication when you concluded with, "I'm afraid if you truly want to go to Heaven, it's very clear as to what we all must do." What is it we all must do to go to Heaven? Is it to order our behavior and perform some specific work? Or, is as scripture teaches, "that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life" [John 3:15]; or "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." [John 6:29] Rom. 10:9 unequivocably states, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" (NASB) I hope this is what you meant to say. Doc, I think Inquisitor was too. He complained about using the term Campbellite, "That's the second time I've noticed someone referring to a group (Campbellites) in a derogatory fashion. Does the Forum actually condone this behavior? What did these peopole do to incur such bitter hatred? Are they just christians on the conservative or possibly the liberal side of the spectrum? Someone, please explain this to me. I'll be so appreciative." BradK |

Hi Bill, I strain to continue any further dialog with you until you are forthcoming about your connection to Inquisitor. Remember him? I know you do. You are not being honest about your identity or if you've ever had a previous account revoked by Lockman. What does the Terms of Use say? MEMBER ACCOUNT, PASSWORD AND SECURITY You agree that The Lockman Foundation without notice, in its sole discretion, may terminate your password, account (or any part thereof) or any use of The Restricted Area, and/or bar any further access to such files or the Forum, and/or remove and/or discard any Postings within The Restricted Area, for any reason. If your account is terminated you may not re-register under a different user screen name. Further, you agree that The Lockman Foundation shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to any part of The Restricted Area." How can you so blatantly ignore this? Bill, part of our conduct as Christians has to do with our relationship to others. Some of it has to do with following the rules as set forth by various organizations, like Lockman. Are you going to tell me that lying is OK with you? Are you going to tell me that re-registering as Bill Richardson when you've posted and been revoked as Inquisitor is acceptable conduct? How so? Bill, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I implore you to be open and honest about all these things. Stop the lying, deceptive re-registration and ignoring multiple requests from your Forum poeers to come clean. This is what I think you should be dialoging about my friend, AND NOTHING LESS.
