122 | God's expectations of us | Josh 22:5 | prayon | 144794
Greetings bonikow, Josh 22:5 gives us the answer: "But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. and again in 1Jo 3:23-24 "This is his commandment: to believe in his Son, the one named Jesus Christ, and to love each other as he commanded us. Those who obey Christ's commandments live in God, and God lives in them. We know that he lives in us because he has given us the Spirit." In return if we obey His commandments what we can expect from God is for Him to be our: refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psa 46:1); healer (Psa 30:2, Is 54:5b); protector (Ps 5:11, Mal 3:11); healer (Jer 30:17); refuge (Is 26:3, Psa 9:9, 34:4); savior (Rom 6:23) strength (Psa 46:1,18:2-3) Hope this helps. prayon |

126 | Can you tell me where was jesus for thos | Luke 23:46 | prayon | 144779
Greetings Ali123 and welcome to the forum! You ask some very good questions, those points can be confusing as the bible does not state in exact words. Here is what is believed to of occured. In Luke 23:46 Jesus was offering up His human soul to God without blemish. He handed it over to the Father - no one took His life from Him. After Jesus gave up His spirit He went to paradise. This is why Jesus could say to the thief "today you will be with Me in paradise". Paradise is easier to understand if you go to Luke 16:22-27. This passage talks about Abraham's bosum which is also believed to be paradise. It was here that Jesus, as the saying goes, took the keys to hell. When He left there He saw Mary. He told her Touch me not for I have not yet ascended to my Father. In the time between seeing Mary and Thomas it is believed that He went to present the prverial keys to His Father and then returned to earth where after 40 days He ascended to sit at the right hand of His Father. There are other theories such as Mary was not allowed to touch Jesus because she had faith that it was Him and Thomas was allowed because he didn't. I hope this helps your understanding some. prayon |

127 | important | Heb 10:24 | prayon | 144746
Greetings 9-1-1, It is important to go to church because God has instructed us to. Heb 10:25a says "We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing". Believers gather together at church. Rom 10:14 says "But how can people call on him if they have not believed in him? How can they believe in him if they have not heard his message? How can they hear if no one tells the Good News?". You hear his message by going to church to hear the Word. prayon |

128 | name five bad leaders in the bible. | 1 Kin 16:30 | prayon | 144745
Greetings Rev Bonds, There are numerous bad leaders in the bible - it's hard to tell who was worse! Here is a partial list: Saul: He was the first king and had God's favor until he was disobedient and offered a burnt offering instead of waiting for the priest. Rebellion, attempted murder, and envy followed. Kings of the Northern kingdom: Jeroboam: 1st king of the northern kingdom. He established idol worship and is known as the king who made Israel to sin. Nadab: Jeroboams son walked in the sins of his father. Baasha: murdered Nadab in a conspiracy against him and then killed all of Jeroboam's family. Zimri: murdered Baasha's son (Elah) while he was drunk and took the throne -treason. He killed all of Elah's family and then reigned 7 days. Omri: set Zimri's house on fire and killed him. He allowed rampant idolatry. He did more evil than all who came before him. Ahab - Omri's son was known as the most evil of all Israel's kings. He married Jezebel and began honoring all her gods. Ahaziah - son of Ahab followed in the sins of his father and mother. Jehu started out honoring God but turned to idol worship. Jehoahaz - followed the sins of Jeroboam Jehoash - son of Jehoahaz plundered Jerusalem and the temple Jeroboam II - follwed the sins of Jeroboam. Zachariah son of Jeroboam II followed in the sins of his fathers before him Menahem followed the sins of Jeroboam II. He slept with his fathers. Kings of the southern kingdom Rehoboam - 1st king of the southern kingdom, son of Saul - forsook the law of the Lord Abijah - walked in the sins of his fathers Asa - did right in the eyes of the Lord for many years but drew back from lack of faith in his later years. Jehosaphat - married Athaliah daughter of Ahab and Jezebel. Jehoram - walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and did evil in the sight of the Lord. He killed his 6 brothers and some princes who were a threat to him. Practised idolatry Ahaziah - did evil in the sight of the Lord Joash - turned from the Lord and recognized Baal worship, commanded the stoning of Zechariah the prophetand killed Jehoiada's sons. Amaziah - disobedient to God Uzziah - did right in the sight of the Lord until he became prideful and went into the priests office and burned incense upon the alter of incense in the temple. Ahaz, grandson of Uzziah - worshiped Baal and burned children in sacrifices. Hezekiah - started out obedient to God but became filled with pride Manasseh - the worst of all the kings of Judah! worshipped Baal and other pagan shrines. Persecuted and slew the prophets of the Lord Amon - son of Manasseh - did evil in the sight of the Lord Hope this helps! prayon |

129 | Seven Praises | Ps 119:164 | prayon | 144744
Greetings, As searcher said it does not mean areas of praise, however there is a significance of the number 7. 7 is the number of perfection so the 7 here is perhaps means that a continual attitude of praise characterizes the psalmists life. Praising God is a duty which we should very much abound in! prayon
130 | WHY 400 YRS BETWEEN TESTAMENTS | Bible general Archive 2 | prayon | 144743
Greetings, As searcher said the bible does not give us any reason for the 430 years of silence. Although God was prophetically silent the hand of God was active during this time directing the course of events which followed the pattern predicted in Daniel (2:24,45; 7:1-28; 8:1-27; and 11:1-35). prayon

132 | what would it be like to have god act on | Is 43:5 | prayon | 144740
Greetings shael, In verse 5a God tells us that we are not to fear for He is with us - God acts on your behalf in this way each and every day! He has protected you in ways you have no idea of. There were all kinds of things that Satan had planned for you that God intervened in on your behalf - Like the accident you were almost in the other day. The rest of this passage talks about when the Lord will gather His people together from all area of the earth and bring everyone back to Israel to live in the millenial kingdom with Jesus. We will exist only to praise Him. What a glorious day that will be! I can't even begin to find the words to describe how it will be to live with Jesus here on earth.... |

133 | Is Extreme Metal appropriate? | 1 Corinthians | prayon | 144564
Greetings delight in light, I agree with what the others have said. We are instructed to be in line with whatever is true and nobel and right. There is a saying that I truly believe: WHATEVER YOU GIVE YOUR ATTENTION TO YOU CONFORM TO. WHATEVER YOU CONFORM TO YOU BECOME. Even though you truly believe that the words are having no effect on you - you are being deceived. The bad part is that once you realize it there will be such a distance between you and God that it will be hard to repair. Satan works in very subtle ways. I work with an organization that puts on Christian concerts. I have worked at a lot of "extreme metal" Christian concerts. Believe it or not I have even been in the mosh pits at these concerts. There are quite a few bands that I am sure you would enjoy listening to that have positive lyrics to them that honor and praise our Savior. May I recommend Dead Poetic, Norma Jean or the Chariot? Remember seek and you will find. prayon |

135 | MARK2 3-5 WAS LAW BROKE WASDETER.USED? | Mark 2:4 | prayon | 144373
Greetings Jahleel, Most homes in Palestine had flat roofs that were used for relaxation in the col of the day and for sleeping on hot nights. There was usually a external stairway that went up to the roof. It was probably this type of house that where Jesus was preaching. The roofs were made of clay that was placed on supporting beams and then covered with another layer of clay. The friends of the paralytic just removed these slabls of clay to lower him down. I know of no law that would of forbid this as it would of been easily repaired. Yes it would be true to say that the paralytic's friends had a aggressive and persistant determination to get their friend healed. This proved their great faith in Christ that Christ could heal their friend. prayon
136 | what are the meaning of Lev.12 | Lev 12:5 | prayon | 144371
Greetings Jolly, Although we do not know the exact reason there is some speculation as to why the purification after a girl was longer than a boy. One speculation is that it was intended to remind the people of the fact that woman represents the lower side of human nature, and was the first to fall into temptation. Another line of thought is that it was founded upon the notion, which was very common in antiquity, that the bleeding and watery discharge continued longer after the birth of a girl than after that of a boy. Still another line of thought suggests that a male infant circumcised on the eighth day, by the profusion of its own blood, bears part of the purgation; wherefore the mother, for the birth of a female, must suffer twice the time of separation. What ever was the reason the stigma was removed in Christ (see 1Tim 2:14-15). prayon |

138 | What's up with the people of Nazareth? | Bible general Archive 2 | prayon | 141415
Greetings, This was a man that was familiar to them. This was Joseph's son afterall - the guy who lived just a few doors down. Too often we do not see that which is right beside us and this was surely a good part of the reason they didn't believe. Another reason was the same as people everywhere. They expected the Lord to make a grand entrance - with trumpets and angels announcing His arrival - not the quiet peaceful entrance that the Lord did make - a little baby born in a stable among the animals. Hope this helps. prayon |

139 | 2 Questions regarding tithing | Mal 3:10 | prayon | 141372
Greetings, Mal 3:10 says to ""Bring one-tenth of your income into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house". This is referring to your own church. Tithes are meant to be given to your home church for the support of the pastor and the church. A contribution to another ministry is just that a contribution - an offering. When we give our tithes we are to "give" them. This means we are to take our hands off the money. We no longer have any say in how they are spent. If we want to have a say in how our money is spent then we are not really taking our hands off of it. Your pastor may be spending the money in a way that you do not approve of and indeed he may be wrong in what he is doing but that is not for us to decide - that is for God to decide. If he is spending the money wrong then God will deal with him. I would tell you above all be obedient to the Word and pay your tithes then pray and ask God to either cause your pastor to "see the light" or if what the pastor is doing is God directed that he cause you and your wife to accept it. Please forgive me if I sound harsh - I really do not mean to. I say what I say in love only. prayon |

140 | finding my calling | Rom 12:1 | prayon | 141370
Greetings, I think greentwig left out one very important way - seek guidance from your pastor. I also believe that when God gives us our calling He causes us to have a love for that thing. What do you love to do? Remember though God will reveal it to you at the perfect time. Many times we know that we are called to something and we strike out immediately to do that thing and then end up failing. We fail because God had not finished preparing us to take our place. So be talk to your pastor but also have patience. It will be revealed to you when you are totally prepared to step into your calling. prayon |
