121 | Scripture above scripture? | 2 Tim 3:16 | lionheart | 205372
WOS, Good morning brother. No I don't necessarily think your being too sensitive. The basic tenet of scripture according to 2 Timothy 3:16,17 is that it's all God breathed. We may place more focus on certain segments of scripture than others, But! We gotta take the bible as a whole. We gotta remember That God is the author, men may have penned it but God authored it and did not place any more validity on one part than the other. People can't afford to discount any part of God's Word. It helps to keep Romans 15:4 in mind. I will say this though there may be some manuscripts that may be more accurate than others but we gotta be careful with that. In Him, lionheart |

122 | Does God want us to belong to one church | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 205030
Sissy, God's blessing to you and welcome to the forum. The key thing here is being in a fellowship where God's Word is preached and honored. I don't know if your husband is saved or not but him going to church now is encouraging. Encourage him t go after God. I don't know that thier is any scripture that dictates we have to belong to a particular church or fellowship. You are correct, as Christians we are the church. If the fellowship he is attending scripturally sound then stand with your husband an encourage him as much as you can. In Him, lionheart |

125 | gifts of Spirit in Heaven | 1 Corinthians | lionheart | 203888
new librarian, God bless your heart and welcome to the forum. It's always good to have another veteran in the faith among us. July 21st will be fourteen years for me. God has blessed me with almost four years here on the forum. It's a good place to be. As for your question spend some time going through 1 Corinthians 12, 13 and 14. Paul takes allot of focus regarding the gifts of Spirit. Paul does a good job on the whys and wherefores of this. As this isn't my strongest area of knowledge I'll just say this. The gifts were given for our time here. Paul does say that at some point in time they will cease. There has been allot of disagreement in the Christian community over this. My impression is that when we get to heaven we're not going to be encumbered by the things that trip us up now and we will have the answer to all our question. It's gonna be great. thenoel2, You have stated correctly. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the head. Note 1 Cor 12:12-24, Eph 4:4-5 and Matthew 6:33. Hopefully this will lend more understanding for you. I myself have never been able to reference anything calling into question going to more than one church. If God is top priority in what you do thats what counts.
