121 | Why do people say this when in all actua | Isaiah | humbledbyhisgrace | 194811
Lamp, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! You have been given the correct information. Be sure to thank God for those who shared this good news with you all your life as you put it! God's word tells us this very thing you have been told. See below! 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NASB) 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures Jesus did die for our sins! Praise God! His way is perfect and complete! There is no other way!!! Check this out! Romans 3:23 (NASB) says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" and Romans 6:23 (NASB) says "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. " and Romans 5:8 (NASB) says "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." and Romans 10:9 (NASB) says "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" Have you ever confessed Jesus as your Lord? Do you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead? Jesus did die for our sins! There is no other way! There is salvation in no one else! (Acts 4:12) Steve |

122 | Jesus' sake rather than in Jesus' name? | 1 Pet 3:14 | humbledbyhisgrace | 193815
Greetings Huron, Perhaps for your own edification you should ask your Pastor what he means by this and not assume there is something to quibble about. Allow him to explain it to you! Consider this passage of scripture 1 Peter 3:13-17 1 Peter 3:13-17 (NASB) 3:13 Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? 3:14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED, 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 3:16 and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. 3:17 For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong. or this example in scripture Philippians 2:25-30 (NASB) 2:25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need; 2:26 because he was longing for you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 2:27 For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow. 2:28 Therefore I have sent him all the more eagerly so that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may be less concerned about you. 2:29 Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and hold men like him in high regard; 2:30 because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was deficient in your service to me. I can't speak for your Pastor but if he is a man of God I'm confident what he means when he says "for Jesus' sake" he is aligning with Jesus' cause, his purpose so to speak. Steve |

123 | Able to Bear mean in 1 Cor 10:13 | 1 Cor 10:13 | humbledbyhisgrace | 193053
Greetings rsfehrman, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Take a look at how the NASB translation is worded 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NASB) No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. We can say it means to endure the temptation or in other words, not give into the temptation and sin. Does this help? Steve |

125 | What does "able to bear" mean? | NT general Archive 1 | humbledbyhisgrace | 193048
Greetings rsfehrman, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Could you possibly be referring to 1 Corinthians 10:13 ? 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Take a look at how the NASB translation is worded 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NASB) No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. If this is the passage of scripture you are referring to when trying to understand what is meant by "able to bear" then perhaps the NASB translation will help. We can say it means to endure the temptation or in other words, not give into the temptation and sin. Does this help? Steve |

strts5, In all things, regardless of what it is the fist place you should go is before God and seek His guidance! Read Ephesians 2:1-12 and then ask yourself the same question, "will He help me?" 127 | Why is Enoch not at the Trasnfiguration? | Bible general Archive 3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 192837
J-man, I don't know that the scriptures speak to why Moses and Elijah were there but Enoch was not. Apparently their ascension had no bearing on this. I've read the speculation that perhaps this represented the three groups of people that will be present when Christ institutes His kingdom on earth. "The disciples represent individuals who will be present in physical bodies. Moses represents saved individuals who have died or will die. Elijah represents saved individuals who will not experience death, but will be caught up to heaven alive"—Bible Knowledge Commentary Naturally, it should be noted this is nothing more then speculation on their part. There is no scriptural evidence that I'm aware of that gives any validity to this. Steve |

128 | How did the Jews identify the Uncircumci | Acts 16:3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 192433
Greetings birdy! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! I don't know the answer to the question so I'm speculating :-) but perhaps it was by confession and based on their "walk with God" it was confirmed in the minds of the Jews. I really don't know but wanted to jump in here and promote a different question to your class. Take the discussion in your class a bit farther and ask the question, how can you know there has been a circumcision of the heart with one today? Can you truly know? Include yourselves when asking the question! See Also Acts 15:1-12, Romans 4:9-12 and Galatians 2:15-21 as your class discusses circumcision. God Bless, Steve |

John, what are you defending? All you have said is there is a complaint. What is the complaint and what does the 1978 Freedom of American Indian Religious Freedom Act and Matthew 28:18 have to do with it? Thanks, Steve |

131 | Refer to Romans 11:28-29 | Romans | humbledbyhisgrace | 191611
Greetings begbie! Study this and I think it will help you understand. This was taken from the Bible Knowledge Commentary "11:28-29. Here Paul summarized God’s dealings with Israel and with the Gentiles. In order for God to bring the gospel to Gentiles He had to deal with Israel corporately as enemies. But in relation to God’s choice (election) of Abraham and His covenant with him and the patriarchs, Israel is beloved. Because God chose Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (cf. 9:6-13), He loves the nation and will carry through on His promises. This is another reason Israel’s hardening must be temporary (cf. 11:15, 22-25) and she must finally be saved corporately: God chose her. And God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable (lit., “for not repented of are the grace-gifts and the calling of God”). He does not revoke what He has given or whom He has chosen (“call” means election and salvation; cf. 1:6; 8:30). 11:30-32. The Gentiles to whom Paul wrote were at one time disobedient to God, but in this Age of Grace Gentiles (you) have now received mercy. When Adam disobeyed (5:19) all were constituted sinners because all humanity sinned in Adam (5:12). (Cf. “disobedient” in Eph. 2:2; 5:6; and “disobedience” in Heb. 4:6, 11.) Israel (they) is now corporately disobedient to God so that when God’s mercy to the Gentiles (you) reaches its full number (Rom. 11:25), Israel will again receive mercy (cf. vv. 26-27). God’s ultimate purpose is to have mercy on... all. To do so justly God has bound (synekleisen, “enclosed, shut in on all sides”) all men over to disobedience. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (3:23). “Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin” (3:9), so that “there is no difference” (3:22). When the Gentiles rejected God and disobeyed Him (1:17-21), God chose Abraham and his descendants as His special people. Now the disobedience of the Jews enables God to show mercy to the Gentiles. Then, when that purpose is achieved, He will again show mercy to Israel corporately." —Bible Knowledge Commentary Steve |

133 | When did Adam/Eve die? | Gen 5:5 | humbledbyhisgrace | 191529

134 | Is being cremated a sin? | 1 Sam 31:12 | humbledbyhisgrace | 191527
Greetings! Paste this number in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the page. This post on the subject may be helpful to you. Also, you can do a search on the word "cremation" and find many other post on the subject that might also be helpful in understanding this subject. By the way, don't believe everything you hear on TV! Even if it is a "minister"! I make no claims about the minister you speak of because I don't even know who you are talking about. But you can see many on the TV today who are clearly false prophets and contradict the word of God on a regular basis! God bless, Steve |

135 | What are gifts of the Holy spirit | 1 Cor 12:1 | humbledbyhisgrace | 191395
Greetings Lynton! I want to also encourage you to think about a few things as you look into the gifts of the Spirit. Note that it is God who gives them to man! Note the purpose of the gifts! Note the importance of God's people serving Him and His church with the gift they have been given! Also, you will more then likely find that this is one area that most Christians seem to struggle with in regards to understanding and knowing the gift they have been given. I would argue the reason is because of their relationship with God. It is absolutely essential that you have a close relationship with God in order to better understand and know Him. I have found that many seem to seek answers from God through prayer only. As if He will show them the future (i.e. His will for their life). Don't get me wrong, prayer is an essential part of our relationship with God and in seeking His will. But what seems apparent to me is that many fail to see that much of His will has already been revealed to us through His word. My question to many is why do they think God is going to reveal the future to them when they are not even obedient and doing that which He has already revealed to them through His word? It seems to be this way with the local churches also. Just my opinion and of course this does not apply to all Christians and churches. I by no means know them all but from what I have seen and heard, it seems to apply to many! God bless, Steve |

139 | Explain the meaning of 2 peter 1:13 | 2 Pet 1:13 | humbledbyhisgrace | 191150
Greetings Russell41! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! The "tent" is referring to this earthly body. See also 2 Cor. 5:1, 4 See verse 12 for an explanation of what Peter is talking about regarding "stir you up". Also, notice Peter says in verse 12 "though you know them and are established in the truth that you have." (NASB) Therefore, we must agree with scripture and say yes! there is a "benefit to reminding people". We see here in this passage of the word of God that it is so. Peter, who was lead by the Holy Spirit to write these words clearly points out in verse 8 and 9 the importance. See verses 3-7 of what Peter is "stirring" them up / reminding them of. Go back and read the passage from verse 3-15 to put it all in context. God bless, Steve |
