121 | What is the gospel? | 1 Cor 15:1 | Bill Richardson | 230608
To most Bible students, the Gospel simply means the Good News from our God, the Creator that He sent His Son to die for ALL mankind, from Adam and Eve to the last person born before the Return of His Son to end the world and begin Judgement Day. Of course, we must comply with His Son's Last Will and Testament to receive this Gift of Salvation, as depicted in Hebrews 9. Also applicable: Jn 14:19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. 122 | biblical role of father with children | 2 Cor 6:4 | Bill Richardson | 230614
Sadly there's not a whole lot in God's Word to deal with your specific situation with the fact you and the father were never married. I'm not saying you're completely on your own without any guidance from God but it's VERY difficult to provide counseling especially over the internet without getting both sides of the story. I can only suggest you get counseling from some professional christian counselor and hopefully get the father in the room with you. It does seem rather unfair that he and his wife are getting the foodstamps if indeed you have primary custody of the kids. My son is facing the very same problem with his ex-wife. It's a very harsh and Godless world of darkness and sinful people in which we live. I'll be praying for you and your kids as I'm praying for my own grandkids. Go with God in all things. Bill |

124 | bodies | Phil 3:21 | Bill Richardson | 231004
The last verse of this passage seems to be close to that for which you're looking. Thus it also seems clear this takes place after we reach Heaven. Phil 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. 125 | What is meant by the immanence of God? | Colossians | Bill Richardson | 230769
I can only assume that you're referring the last phrase below. Col 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Hopefully, this passage is self-explanitary. If not you need to read the whole chapter and you'll get it. Go with God in all things, Bill |

126 | is jesus god? | Col 1:18 | Bill Richardson | 231017
In addition to your scriptures as cited, I can only think to add these in an attempt to complete the picture: Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” Jn 17:20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. All of this leads us to the conclusion that there really is a concept known as the Trinity. No, the word itself is not in the Bible but the picture certainly is. All Three of the Godhead, God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are all in Perfect Unity. BUT they're also three distinct Beings as shown in... Lk 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” No we can't understand this Perfect Oneness yet in three distinct Beings; we just have to accept it. So in answer to your question, yes indeed, Jesus most certainly was then, still is and always will be God. Go with God in all things, Bill |

127 | only one interpretation for scripture | 2 Pet 1:20 | Bill Richardson | 231127
That's one reason I'm grateful for a Forum such as this. Prov 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. I'm thinking Christianity is the very best form of teamwork with the very best Head Coach, our Lord and Saviour. Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

128 | sins forgiven, what about new sins? | 1 John 1:9 | Bill Richardson | 231178
I've been taught that as human beings, we're all weak and sinful creatures. First we have to succeed in avoiding "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life," 1 John 2:16 which is incredibly difficult to do. Then another very difficult weakness of ours as humans, we can't possibly match Jesus in His Life as described in... James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. We can't possibly do every little good thing of we which we could think to do. We simply don't have the energy or the self-discipline but we also just choose NOT to do it. We are a people of convenience; I'll admit it as I am this way. We like our routines and really don't want to go out of our way looking for new and fresh opportunities to "do good." Also Paul tells us in... Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all[h] who believe. For there is no difference; 23 FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. What are we to do with this conundrum, a seemingly almost impossible task imposed on us by our Lord? We do the best we can; we set the best kind of example around our co-workers, avoid those obvious sins above and go home to our family as that too is a responsibility charged to us by God in... 1 Tim 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Finally we just got to go to bed and give over all our inadequacies, cares and frustrations to our God in prayer. I like to do this at night, wake up the following morning and start fresh, resolving to do the best we can in devoting ourselves to imitating His Son, 1 Cor 11:1. This is all part of the Process we call Grace, bestowed on us by our Lord. He gives us that kind of comfort as long as we're maintaining that relationship as cited in... 1 John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. So we must maintain a proper attitude of gratitude instead of pride and not do more sinning to bring on more Grace. That we must not do... Rom 1:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. I hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |
