121 | Church Membership? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 57931
After reading yesterdays long dialogue about church membership, it seemed rather like arguement rather than higher Christian dialogue. I think the forum is suppose to be compamionship sharing ideas and scriptures, rather than competition and rudeness. I read all the notes, and said this is so infintile and lackked scriptual support by several. If by the notes alone I was to draw a conclusion, I would say "typical Christians always fighting." I do not think this is what the Lord finds pleasing. Do you? I happen to attend a church that has no church menbership! To my total amazement the system works so well. I doubt church membership is near as important as belonging to the family of Jesus Christ. I would like your comments or suggestions. agape, justme |

122 | Exactly what is TAIZ'E? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 62200
This weekend on PBS TV I saw where over 6,000, mostly young people, were attending a worship center called TAIZ'E. The location was in Europe. What I saw was hinting of Universalism. Does any know much more than I saw on TV? I have the gut feeling this is a "feel good" experience, because I saw no Bibles, but they sang chants, and praise songs, but no preaching. The Word says unless they hear how will they know. Just what I saw made me wonder what it really is. Thank You for the help. justme |

125 | V chip for Christians? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 168546
As Christians we are called to be a light, to live so others see the difference in us compared to the way of the world. What do you think about Christians who have movie stations like HBO etc. Some Christians do not have television because of the offensive nature of many programs. What is a Christian response to these issues?

129 | Women are to be silent? | NT general | justme | 218334
YenlsaRap: Was not the 1 Ti 2:11,12 in response to the fact women were not educated, and to ask questions in a service because it was rude, and showed their being uneducated? Else where in Scripture women are told to cover their head, why is this not stressed as well? The majority of denominations do not wash feet either now. As a matter fact if it were not for women in ministry during the 19th century, the United States would have had no Sunday Schools. There were many women preachers while the west was being settled. Often Churches were started by women extending Sunday School to those who wanted to hear more about Christ. When a men do not or won't step up to the Biblical leadership of the church, then should women just say they are helpless and let the evangelism of souls to Christ go undone? If asking a woman to keep silent in Worship Services is for today, then what about singing solos, or doing anything but keeping quiet? Who takes care of the babies in the nursery? Is the Church the only place a woman is not to teach or usurp authority? There are women in every profession, from judges, even in the higest court in the nation. Adam and Eve were both equally guilty of sin. If we are to love our wives as Christ loved the Church then perhaps we need to remember women are not second class anything. Not second class humans or second class Christians. What really seems cruel is to have women missionaries in a remote spot, by themselves serving in every way you can think of, and yet not Ordain them as we would a man. The "phenonomen in the churches of today" is not just a recent event or happening. There have been women in ministry from the time of Mary and Martha. Having been in Central and South America in the remote villages and small gatherings in a few houses, often it has been the women who have started the Sunday School or Worship Services. I believe Scripture was relating these verses, you used, in their cultural setting not as a mandate for all time. If we take these verses in the most literal meaning then there are other verses that have been ignored for the sake of keeping women under the subjection of ignorant men. Should we not encourage our women to excell in every way possible as Christians? Blessings. AFTER THOUGHT: I am sure my responce will not be accepted by the majority in the Study Bible Forum. I have no intention of causing an upset in the Study Bible Forum with my remarks. I respectfully decline to debate my opinion. I do think there far more to the subject of Women in Ministry than just being a preacher. In love, respect and peace, Justme |

130 | Praying right? | NT general | justme | 220474
In Psalm 139 it says before we were even born God knows our days from birth to our death, and because I have surrendered to Jesus Christ as my Lord I am going to be with Him. Is praying for a longer life, I am praying to live until I am 75, not in His will? justme I am wondering because the LORD knows all of my life span, am I asking something against His will. |

131 | How do you demonstrate contentment? | NT general | justme | 234053
Paul mentions contentment. How are some of the ways you have learned to be content? If contentment is to be a part of our life that stands out from the rest of the world how do we show it? One example might be driving your car for as long as you can to demonstrate you don't have to buy a new car every two or three years. |

133 | 1689 Confession 1st or second? | NT general | justme | 242540
I have heard and read some mention about "THE LONDON BAPTIST CONFESSION OF FAITH" of 1689. When I looked it up, there is a second confession of the 1689 as well. Is there a short summary version of the Confession? Thanks, justme |

136 | Are we to bless Israel? | NT general | justme | 243628
The Jews of today living in Israel, are they seem by God as His special people? Are we today to bless them as the promise in the OT that if we bless them God will bless us? I hear this a good much of the time on some Christian radio prograns. I am concerned as if anyone, including the Jews reject Jesus as their LORD they too will go to hell if they reject Christ. 139 | What happens after death? | Gen 1:1 | justme | 93707
Several places in the New Testament we read of death as those who have fallen asleep in the Lord. Does this mean at death we go into a state of nonconscienceness? Or we upon death in the midst of Jesus? What happens to those whom have been cremated and ashes spread, how can anyone be brought back when the remains are but ashes? Please, please use scripture to respond to this question. No I think, or someone said, please. Blessings. justme |
