101 | 1689 Confession 1st or second? | NT general | justme | 242540
I have heard and read some mention about "THE LONDON BAPTIST CONFESSION OF FAITH" of 1689. When I looked it up, there is a second confession of the 1689 as well. I looked for a complete Confession to print from the web site. However what I found was a huge number of sections. Is there a place that has the confession where it can be printed? Is there a short summary version of the Confession? Thanks, justme |

102 | Grace vs Works? | James 1:22 | justme | 242537
Welcome to The Study Bible Forum Rikbrooks. When we take the Word seriously it stirs the soul, and pricks our heart, and opens our minds. I believe that is the renewing our mind Paul refers to. In recent decades often alter calls were made and people were moved to come in mass and say a "sinners prayer". All too often nothing else was given except the assurance that a person was "saved". Sadly with the assurance that that they were saved that settled it for that person once and for all, and they returned to the lifestyle they had always been living. Those folks were led astray, and some even died in their sins and did not enter the Lords prepared place for genuine followers of Christ Jesus. This has been a travesty that even continues today. In Matthew 11:20 Jesus went into town doing miracles and preached to the people. However they did not become "followers" and they did not "repent". They did not turn in a new direction and reject their sins which required then to change. Without repentance and becoming a true follower of Jesus Christ there is no salvation. In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus clearly said there those who will do many things in His name and yet they are not genuine born again followers of His. Furthermore Jesus said just because some call Jesus "Lord Lord" they will not enter His Kingdom. Those who do and say things about Jesus don't mean they are genuine born again repented flowerers of His. One only has to watch TV and see completely anti Biblical teaching and preaching. By some who love titles like Bishop, or the Holy Reverend so and so. How many people who were searching for Christ have been shipwrecked because of these greedy money hungry fake Christians have taken the Lords name in vain by their lies. As we grow in Christ we are being made aware of sins in our lives by the Holy Spirit. We are to confess these sins and turn away from them. One John one nine gives us assurance of being forgiven. When we allow the Holy Spirit to speak to our conscience or heart and we confess and Follow Christ we are becoming doers of the Word. Becoming a totally obedient believer of Jesus Christ is not accomplished in a ninuet or a day, but it takes our lifetime. Blessings in your walk with Jesus. justme |

103 | More experienced translators needed... | 2 Pet 3:10 | justme | 242520
Vamite: Welcome to the study Bible Forum. I just wanted you to know that you were not being ignored as you question is interesting and worthy of dialogue. I am totally reliant upon some very basic tools to deal with the Greek. I did look up the verse in two different Greek English New Testaments, as well as A. T. Robertson in his book WORD PICTURES IN THE NEW TESTAMENT in volume VI page 176-177 suggests that verse 10 and 12 use the same language in a few places. The heat can also be said to be that of a fever. However Robertson also says that verse 10 that when some translations say "shall be found." "There are various other readings here." and Robertson says "the text seems corrupt." Now I am not equipped to understand exact ally what all this really means, I do agree it is very interesting study. I went to college with Dr. James White who has Alpha Omega Ministries and is perhaps one expert of Greek and Apologetics. You can look up his ministry web site and gain some rreally deep studies there as well. Above all I have for my own growth a rather good selection of word study books because of my ignorance. Even with a seminary degree and a basic knowledge they teach, it is but a beginning knowledge of Greek, A serious Greek scholar works with the masterof this language every day as I have been told. So most of those who are learning Greek and plan to become proficient in the use of the language are not usually found on the Study Bible Forum, in my opinion. But there just might be a very modest Greek expert hiding in this forum. Blessings Vamite. justme |

113 | The Bible and YOU? | Bible general | justme | 242464
Ed: In my study I often have two to four or five different translations along with Vines. Most generally they all follow so close that there is no difference in the meaning. In keeping with the most literal versions can be quite different from the NIV and and especially the Living Translation. I used to use the 1984 NIV which was good but now that they have mixed the TNIV with the new NIV I have no use for the new NIV at all. Justme |

114 | shall not perish, but have eternal life | John 3:16 | justme | 242463
Mac4Yuma: You really need to quote the Bible in your answers, that is required by the Study Bible Forum. Your statement for instance that" In the end only bad people will perish in the lake of fire to become ashes under the feet of the saints" is pure gibberish, and unscriptural. You state you are Ordained and if by an orthodox Christian Denomination or group then please make sure your answers are Biblically correct. In saying "...the Dead in Christ will be made Spirit beings plus the few who are alive will be changed into Spirit beings" where in the world did you come up with such balderdash? This is a mixture or Mormonism and I don't know what else. This is a warning do not post unscriptural answers again. If you have a question feel free to ask, but do not answer questions without a Biblical basis. I suggest you once again read the rules you agreed to when entering this Study Bible Forum. The owner of this website Lockman insists we all abide by the rules and you MUST abide by them. justme |

Nick: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. 2 Corinthians 12:10 might be what you are looking for or if not the right book this might be close. Hebrews 11:33-34 might be a place to look at too. Philippians 4:11-13 is an excellent place for great encouragement. These are a few of the places I go to for strength. Blessings. justme |

116 | Jesus died not for us | John 3:16 | justme | 242448
Welcome to the Study Bible Forum Mac4 Yuma. Your question is a little bit different from any I have seem before. Why do you say that the Bible or more specifically the New Testament does not support that Jesus died for them? (meaning me and you) Just in the book of John chapter three there are many verses that support that we must believe in Jesus, and specifically verse 36 it refers to "the one" meaning us as each person. John 17:14-19 is another Scripture that might help as well. Without Jesus paying the price for mine and yours and everyone who will accept Him as their payment for their sins then each person makes the choice to be responsible for their own sins. God forces no one to become a follower of Jesus Christ. However those who reject the offer of Jesus dyeing and shedding His blood for their sins, then they are by choice electing to separate themselves from God and His saved ones in a place reserved for their eternal keeping. That place is eternally being punished in hell. This is never Gods will, but our personal choice. Please feel free to respond and I will be willing to dialogue further with you. justme |

I have been interested in different Bibles sold in the US and the actual sales in numbers in the US. I went to CBA Retailers Resources and found the following information. Listed in order of the highest volume of number of sales first. Here are the top ten for the month of February 2014, the latest available information. 1. New International version 2. King James version 3. New King James Version 4. New Living Translation 5. English Standard version 6. Holman Christian Standard Bible 7. New International Readers Version 8. Reina Valera 1960 9. New American Standard Bible 10. Common English Bible. I found it interesting that the order of these Bible sales have stayed basically the same for the last three years. The Message used to be #10 and the N I Readers Version was not even listed in 2012. Here are my questions. Have you changes the version of the Bible you mainly use in the last three years? What Bible do you use mostly now? It has been said the Bible is one of the best selling books; but it is the least read. How often do you read your Bible? Thanks for your reply, and God Bless you. justme |

120 | How to explain seeing a ghost? | Heb 9:27 | justme | 242385
Aroundthebend: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I wonder if they has been involved with some activity that the Bible warns about staying away from? Demons are real and do show themselves as such things. You don't say if you family is involved with a Bible believing church or not. Has you family been taught the Bible? These are demonic things that people just laugh at and think are a fun thing, when in reality Satan is doing his best to attract people into witchcraft and games that draw people into his evil ways. I strongly suggest you talk to your pastor about this and ask him to give scriptures to encourage her about Jesus Christ and His protection and salvation that Jesus Christ offers to those who believe and become followers of Christ Jesus. I pray you will follow up on this ASAP. justme |
