How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. (1Co 14:26 KJVR) Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. (2Co 12:19 KJVR) I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh, with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. (1Co 14:5 KJVR) Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. (1Co 14:12 KJVR) Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. (Rom 14:19 KJVR) Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (1Th 5:11 KJVR) --- And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (Eph 4:11-12 KJVR) From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Eph 4:16 KJVR) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Eph 4:29 KJVR) |

104 | KJV question | Gen 34:19 | Thomas8 | 203566
This is for someone holding a KJV only position. The KJV says Shechem was 'more honorable' but that conflicts with v.2 and v5 where he defiled Dinah. The NAS 'more respected' seems reasonable as Shechem could have the respect of his tribe regardless of what he had done to Jacob's daughter. I would appreciate your reasoning on this issue.

106 | Is poor the only way? | Matt 25:45 | Thomas8 | 203541
Hi F.o.o.t.man, I found this about Paul, Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, (Php 3:8 KJVR) |

107 | Is poor the only way? | Matt 25:45 | Thomas8 | 203538
Hi F.o.o.t.man, I'd like to know more about Paul's situation, too. He certainly lost all benefits that his old life had with the Jewish authorities. A couple of verses that came to mind are: Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (Act 3:6 KJVR) And Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. (Mat 17:27 KJVR) Maybe Jesus did not carry money? |

118 | What promise? To Whom? | Gal 3:19 | Thomas8 | 202951
Hi Doc, Many versions seem to say that the promise was made to the Seed. I understand that promises were made to Abraham. Were any made to the Seed directly or is there something else in the Greek? NASB: "...the SEED would come TO WHOM the promise had been made." I did read (156918) and appreciate them. |

119 | Translating Spirit and wind...? | Gen 1:2 | Thomas8 | 202934
Gen 8:1 "... and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;" Is the same idea in Gen 1:2 and Gen 8:1 and why not translate the same Hebrew word (Spirit-Wind) the same way in both verses? |

120 | What changed? | John 7:8 | Thomas8 | 202931
Joh 7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready. Joh 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. Joh 7:8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. Joh 7:9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. Joh 7:10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. (v6) my time is not yet come (v8) I go not up yet ... FOR ... My time is not yet full come But then (v10) Jesus does go up... So, does that mean His time had come between v. 6 and v 10??? |
