101 | The last twelve verses of Mark 16, (9-20 | Mark 16:9 | Grace and Truth | 52353
The last twelve verses of Mark 16, (9-20) were in the translations of the New Testament two hundred years before the Greek manuscripts Aleph and B (Vaticanus) were made. This shows that these verses were in the Greek manuscript/s used in those translations. The Old Syric translation was in use within the lifetime of many early Christians who knew and heard John the apostle personally. Verses 9-20 are in this version. It also appeared in the Old Italian version, a very honored and respected translation. It reaches back to the early days of the church; and it too contains the last twelve verses of Mark. Also, there are the Ethiopian, Egyptian, Sahidic and Coptic translations that appeared not long after the end of the first century; each having these verses. The evidence is overwhelming in favor of the verses. |

Can you get enough of what Jesus said? I can't! This text has been disputed, some believe it's not worthy to be in the bible, or is not relyable. I believe it's very POWERFUL! It's the words of Jesus. |

107 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | Grace and Truth | 48949
What you need to understand is that tounges were for a sign to the unbelievers. Believers today are not commanded or are required to speak in tounges. If you noticed in 1Cor 14 tounges is the least of all the gifts that God gave. Just keep on studying you bible, (1Cor 14:12,19,20,22,26,28,33. Please study your bible!
108 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49024
Why did you ask the question when do I speak in tounges, if you think you know already. What is speaking in tounges to you? Have you every in your life spoke a language you never studied? In Acts that's what they did!
109 | What was Paul's last miracle? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49028
Eph.4:5 say's there is one baptism! If spiritual gifts have not ceased, and there were nine gifts which ones still exist. AND I don't mean to be a hot rod. I'm just puzzled that so many people are hung-up on something that the bible say's was done away with after the complete word of God has been revealed. Unless we missed something some where. I'm one that trust God's Word and I seek to understand it as much as I can. I've been around people who say they speak in tounges, but what I heard just mock my Lords name. Tounges in the bible is speaking a language not your own.
110 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49102
We are to let the WORD OF GOD guide us, We worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Remember What Jesus said, That an evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign....Matt12:38-45 Be real to yourself, you know and I know that there's not a man alive that can raise the dead, or cause the blind to see, or restore an arm or leg. These are real miracles in the bible, this is what God allowed the first centry church to do. I notest that the only gift that is desired most is to speak with tounges, why not desire to raise the dead, or restore sight to the blind. Can you through the spirit speak Japanese, Greek, never having studied these languages? I don't think so. Just learn how to be a child of God, and leave the gifts where they are in the first centry. |

111 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49133
Are you listening to what Paul is saying? All that a child of God does should edify another, if you know someone is sick, and you visit them with songs, prayer, and incouragement from the Word of God, that may be your gift! I don't think you would try to heal them, because you're not a doctor are you? We will always have people in need of some kind of help, mental or phyical God gave us professionals, hospitals, etc. to help with the things we can't do ourselves. But in the church our gifts are the fruit of the Spirit found in Gal5:22,23; 2Peter1:5-10 This is how God's Spirit works in our lives! Not speaking in unkown tounges and things like that. 112 | TKO, does God operate differently today? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49645
How can you say let's move on, when the question of spiritual gifts has not been answer by scripture from you or anyone with a question. Acts8:13-24 The spiritual gifts in the first centry was made posible through the laying on of hands ("Apostles hands") the third party was not able to do so! Also the Power came from God in Acts 2 and Acts 10. You have to admit that what people are calling the Holy Spirit today is a far cry from what was done in the first centry! Lets look at 1Cor 12:28-31 You all believe that God is still allowing gifts to be used the same as He did in the first centry, 1Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. vs.29 is what need to be understood here today. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? We know the answer to these questions is no! So when someone ask why don't I speak with tongues, the answer is 1Cor12:29-31. Those of you who know thier Bible on this matter need to speak out, to help those who don't understand this teaching. Some believe that there are apostles living today, and prophets, we know that's not true, but yet we let this belief about speaking with tongues go on and on. In this forum all were hearing about are (tongues), not working miracles and the other gifts, no one seem to look for the more (excellent way) Paul spoke about in vs.31 In chapter 13:10 he says when that which is (perfect) comes that which in part will be done away with, (of corse you don't want to hear this part). There was a problem of misuse of gifts in Corinth this is why Paul had to speak on this issue. 1Cor 14 the main point is for the church to edify each other. (EDIFICATI0N AND EXHORTATION AND COMFORT) vs.3 is what should be desired. The book of James lets us know we have the Perfect Law of Liberty James 1:25 This Law teaches us how it could be used and not abused. So instread of looking for God's Holy Spirit to speak in tongues, look to save soul through the Power of the Gospel.

Acts 1:21-22 Peter answered your question, (have companied with) (us) all the (time that the Lord Jesus went in and out "among US", Beginning from the BAPTISM OF JOHN, UNTO THAT SAME DAY THAT HE WAS TAKEN UP FROM US (MUST ONE BE ORDAINED TO BE A WITNESS WITH US OF HIS RESURRECTION). This is the definition of an Apostle from the Bible! One would have had to be there with Peter and the rest of the apostle! In order to be an (APOSTLE)!

115 | TKO, does God operate differently today? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49950
Let's not get upset, Steve! But let's be honest about God's Holy Spirit. You mention that you seen God's Spirit at work and that He working today! And that there is not where in the bible where things have changed as far as God's Holy Spirit goes. In the book of Mark 16:17-18, And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up sepents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Now how many believers you know can handle a deadly sepent? Or drink something deadly and live without going to see a doctor? These are the miracles the bible talks about. You also mention that there's no where the bible say that these things will end, the real thing is there's no where in the bible where it says they will last forever!
116 | TKO, does God operate differently today? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49954
Steve! I'm not saying that God has left us without, I believe the Holy Spirit of God works through his Word Eph 3:1-4 also in chapter 1:13 it says we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, His operation is through God's Word, In the first centry they didn't have the complete reverlation of God, that's why God used signs to confirm the words of the apostles, and once the word was completly revealed through John, it was sealed. You mention Mark being suspect, remember we serve a perfect God, who is all powerful and no matter what men may say, we let God be true and every man a lair! The men who are douting the parts in Marks book have no right or authority to do so! This is where faith come in John 17:20. God's word is all we have today, and if we let men place dout in our minds about it we are of all men most miserable 1Cor15:19 because we have nothing else to let us know about God.
117 | where did this teaching come from? | Acts 2:37 | Grace and Truth | 52724
"Brethren, what shall we do?" I would just like to discuss this question a little bit to understand why Peter by the Holy Spirit gave the people the answer that he gave! Is it the fact that those who ask the question knew they had to submit to something, in order to remove the guilt and sins they had committed? Or did they know that their salvation was already secured, and they could just go about their lives? They knew that they were guilty of killing the Just One, the Son of the living God, so they were looking for a way out of the mess they were in. So they ask the most important question that could ever have been asked, "Brethren, what shall we do?" I now wonder if the teaches of today had to give the answer to that question, would they give the same answer that Peter gave? Or would we get answers like the one's given on this forum! Someone said, that they were glad that they didn't have to jump through "hoops and loops" to come to Christ, how or what answer would you give then to these who asked the question "What shall we do?" Would your answer be the same as Peter's answer? Or would you take out the "hoops and loops?" I know from what I read about "hoops and loops" that baptism would be out of the question because God never included baptism in his salvation plan, and this is what you believe, am I right? Now my question is where did this teaching start That baptism is not and has never been a part of God's salvation plan? The only place in the bible that I found that was negative about baptism was in 1 Cor. 1:10-17 where the members of the corinthian church had a problem that caused division in that church about who the were baptized by! I what we learn here, is that it wasn't baptism it self, but who baptized who! Notice, vs.12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. vs.13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? vs.14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; vs.15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name. vs.16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. vs 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. The above text does not teach against baptism, but against divisions, being baptized in the name of Jesus or by the authority of Jesus Christ is the true way, and as stated in Matt 28:19 Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son,and of the Holy Spirit: There are no other places in the bible that teach anything negative about baptism or being baptized. So where did this teaching come from? Who's the author of that doctrine?
118 | where did this teaching come from? | Acts 2:37 | Grace and Truth | 52823
I think the problem is weather or not we need to do what God said. The Grace of God is simply his word to us, if we did not have instructions (THE BIBLE) WE would have no hope in this life. Do you remember Naaman, the king of Syria, with leprosy, 2Kings 5:1-14 let's look at verse 10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of lsrael? may I not wash in them, and went away in a rage. 13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash and be clean? This came from the Lord God to the prophet, to tell Naaman what he must do to be clean. The same as what Jesus said to be save, it came from God. 14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. What I learn from this is whatever God tells us to do and for whatever reason, we should do it. 1Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in OBEYING THE VOICE OF THE LORD? Behold to OBEY IS BETTER than sacrifice, and to HEARKEN than the fat of rams. We learn here that faith only is not enough in God's sight. "The important baptism is the baptism of the holy spirit and being born of the Spirit. John 3:6, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the *Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again' [or, from above]" Compare Titus 3:5" You miss verse 5 in John 3, you must be born of the water and the spirit to enter the kingdom of God! these are the words of Jesus, and they must be obeyed! When it come to the grace of God we fail to understand what grace is; John 1:16-17 Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word,(Grace) and the Word (Grace) was with God, and the Word (Grace) was God. 14 And the Word (Grace) was made flesh, and dwelt among us ( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. This is how I see it, the grace in Eph.2:8-9 is the word of the Lord God. Men interpret it as "unmerited favor". I think we should let the bible interpret it. |
