101 | Jews saved without Christ? | John 14:6 | Asis | 82944
Humor is acceptable. If offense is taken then I'd better look inside and find out why. Did you know that Rebekah of Genesis smoked cigarettes? Gen. 24:64 (KJV) 64And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel. I beleive Jesus had a hearty laugh. He was not the picture of seriousness seen in so many of the Jesus movies. Thank you for your kind words. God uses the foolish to accomplish His ends. There was no bigger fool than me. As John Wimber said, "I'm a fool for Jesus! Whose fool are you!" yours in Christ Jeff Asis |

Back at you. Look at Luke 4:22 to find out Jesus' last name. Must use the King James. Also Paul was a golfer. 2 Timothy 4:7 again KJV. Peace of God to you and yours Jeff

I'm not serious. the verse says 7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and that is where golf is played on a course. isn't it. We must be careful how we look at the words in scripture. Always using the meanings of the time not present day meanings.

Well said prazn The ultimate authority of the meaning of scripture is the Holy Spirit, not Alfred Barnes or John MacArthur or a greek-english lexicon. We have been provided with all the tools to live a godly life. God did not set us free to find our own way but has provide HIS MIND in us. We have access to the secrets and knowledge of Almighty God. All we have to do is ask. Then our task is to Obey. 1 Cor. 1:5 through 1 Cor. 1:6 (KJV) 5That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; 6Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 1 Cor. 2:9 through 1 Cor. 2:14 (KJV) 9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:15 through 1 Cor. 2:16 (KJV) 15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. And on and on bless His name |

Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: It is interesting that most of us conclude that what satan wants to do is a bad thing. I find myself continually being sifted by the trials and tribulations that come my way almost daily. Sifting in Jesus time was the term used for separating the grain from the chaff and stubble. What remained after sifting was the pure grain. satan had requested to sift Peter just as he had requested to sift Job. Job had to go it alone BUT Peter had Jesus. Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. Here is an example of being covered by the prayer of Jesus. Did Peter pass the test? Was he found of faith after he was sifted? How about you? And when Peter was converted did he not strengthen the brethren? How about you? Are you found faithful after the siftings? |

Looking back at the record of Peter's life bears up the proposition that Peter came through the sifting with a strengthening of His faith. During the trial he was going through, the denial of a friend that he loved so he may save his own life, fearing persecution by the religous. I'm sure satan was having a field day with fear. I mean what would have happened to him if he had not denied that he was with Jesus? Jesus was confirming who he was by telling Peter that even though he said he was willing to die for Jesus when push came to shove he would deny he even knew him not once but three times before the cock crowed. Peter had a revelation from God concerning who Jesus was but in the next sentence received a rebuke from Jesus for speaking what satan had spoken through him. What we see is that we are not Jesus. Even though we may profess to beleive God it is not until the time of trial that we must put up or shut up. How have you fared in your trials? I have had to repeat a few and will probably repeat more in the future. Peter was sifted but Peter became deeper in faith, stronger in faith, because of the trials of the days after Jesus crucifixion. I don't think we can look at the trial Peter was going through as being over until his discussion with Jesus on the shore of the lake. Do you love me? That is the qwuestion that Jesus asks us. In my heart is where the answer lies. Even with the repeated denials of being with Jesus and knowing Jesus do you think he stopped loving Jesus? Could it be that, that is how we deny Him? By losing our love for Him. Is that what is meant in Heb. 6:4 through Heb. 6:8 (NASB) 4For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. 7For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; 8but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned. How can we partake of Jesus and His divine nature and still lose our love for Him. What a heart of stone that would be. Just meditating out loud. |

107 | What happened to the Disciples? | Acts 1:23 | Asis | 86885
I can see everything is taken very seriously and lterally here in the Forum. Your correction about casting lots is noted. I look at the history as men thinking they need to help God when all the time God had a number twelve chosen all the time. Enough of that. It is the those who do the Lord's work in the backround never desiring to be in the forefront that are the real heros of the faith. The cleaner of the toilets, of the glass doors never seem to get the acknowledgement that the stars on the platform get. But don't you think that they do ot want to get their acknowledgement from men. They are about the Lord's work. They are doing to here from the Master "Well done good and faithful servant." Were would the church be if the only one we wanted to satisfy was the Lord. Pride is the hardest thing to overcome so we can die to self and be His alone. |

In Acts 16:13 Paul and Silas went to the river which is where the Jews gather when there is no Synagogue. For Paul to be able to teach ion the Synsgosues He would present himself as a Pharasee which he was. Only he was a Messianic Pharasee. This is how he and Silas would have been recognized as Jews. Remember, the gospel was to the Jews first then to the gentiles (Acts 13:42-46).

111 | What constitutes 'abuse' on the forum? | Acts 17:11 | Asis | 94505
Graceful It is a shame that we "christians," little Christs, don't know who we are in Christ. We are more concerned with some point of doctrine that doesn't concern the majority of those who hear it. You see we can argue what happened during the three days Jesus spent in the earth, setting captives free (my paraphrase), conquering death, smashing the gates of Hades, or we can shout to the heavens that He is risen and has given all of us eternal life and salvation and a job. But noooo we prefer to argue the letter of the word and not walk in and teach the spirit of the word. We spend way too much time telling others that they are wrong. rather than instructing believers in the life of victory. It will be better when we die and go to heaven. What about here? We need to tell each other what the word says about our condition here on this earth now as believers in the Messiah. We should tell the saints of God what He has done so we might be His intruments of righteousness HERE. His light HERE. His salt HERE. We need to spread the good news of the Kingdom of God to those who are still in the kingdom of dakness. Tell all the people that they don't have to be buffeted about like a cork in the ocean by an enemy that has been paralized by our High Priest, by our Brother Jesus the Messiah. We need to equip the saints for the ministry of reconciliation not confrontation. Show the world that the love of God is so great it breaks the yoke of all that binds us. Tell all the world that we are "Free at last, Free at last, Thank God Almighty we are Free at last" Here on this earth by the power and the might of God Almighty through Jesus the Messiah. But no, we of the forum are defenders of the faith not exhorters of the faith. Graceful, I want to tell you that you are the righteousness of God just because you believe. You are God's daughter (I think you are a woman, if I'm wrong I appologuize and tell you are a son of God) and a joint heir with Jesus. You have been indwelt with the Spirit of God Almighty. You have recieved a new nature that has wiped away ALL the old that you were and He has filled you with newness of life which is from and of Him. He has removed your citizenship of this world and transfered you and given you citizenship in the Kingdom of His Son. You have been given a most precious faith so you might partake of God's divine nature by His placing YOU IN CHRIST JESUS. And by Him and through Him and in Him YOU can do ALL things. He has given you the mind of Christ. AND BY ALL HE HAS DONE WE CAN DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL!!!! HALLELUJAH (a jewish word meaning PRAISE THE LORD). Take heart woman of God, leave these childish things to the children and do that which I have called you to do. Your friend in Christ Jeff |

EdB There are times when the arguments about scripture get out of hand on the forum. Some one makes a statement about what they have heard or read by a Word of Faith preacher and it becomes feeding time in the shark tank. It seems sometimes my screen is tinted red. Doctrine makes a difference. God is in control. He changes a person not the contributors to the forum. I pray for those who do not see the truth because of the veil of religion over the eyes of their heart. If graceful or any other person has a skewed conception of the meaning of scripture we need to pray for them and lay the truth in front of them. Not chew them up and spit them out on the ground. Do you think that Jesus was ranting and raving in heaven because someone called Him a "PITIFUL EMANCIPATED WORM". Brother, I know He has been called a lot worse than that. In fact back in the day I'm sure I was the one who said it. JESUS LOVED me then as He loves those who persecute Him now. It is too bad that you hold such unforgiveness to those who you ministered with in the past. I am not niave and realize that their are wolves out among the sheep. I have encountered some. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies. Forgive our brother as God has forgiven us. EdB, I find that as I read the notes and answers on the forum I sometimes do not see the love of Christ in their words. Scripture is the written will of God. It is alive and cleans us, cuts the division between our spirit and our soul. It is the way not the Law. Jesus can take care of Himself. He wants us to stop doing it for Him and let Him do it for us. That is what I was talking about to Graceful. Be concerned about your relationship with Jesus and stop getting snared by the devil in his traps. It will get you nothing by winning or losing an argument (and most of the strings are arguments not discussions) on the Forum. The tactics used to discredit anyone not holding the same doctinal view of a few on the Forum are disgusting. For instance I did not agree with any of the postings in the concerned string. but you start your note with, "Let's look at what your agree with." Let's look at what I said. "You see we can argue what happened during the three days Jesus spent in the earth, setting captives free (my paraphrase), conquering death, smashing the gates of Hades, or we can shout to the heavens that He is risen and has given all of us eternal life and salvation and a job." There is nowhere in my post that I agree with any statements calling my Lord a worm. But anyone reading your post would think I did. I wonder if there isn't a spirit of bitterness that has gained entry into some who post on the forum. It seems that the forum is being used to separate us instead of bring us together IN CHRIST. Ed I love you as a brother in Christ and I have no quarrel with you. All I ask is that you reflect on how much of the love of Christ comes out in your postings. I hope that I have n ot offended you in any way. If I have then look into yourself to see why. Then forgive me. Yours in Christ Jeff |

114 | What constitutes 'abuse' on the forum? | Acts 17:11 | Asis | 94808
EdB We seem to want to enter into this argument about what was going on when Jesus spent the three days in the earth. I wonder if God didn’t tell us so we could waste our time trying to figure out what the truth is. He (God) does allude to it in Ps 68:18; Is 61:1; Eph 4:8-10. See the current listings on the Forum. But that is not the point. The object of the posts seems to discredit any one associated with Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyers et al. Of course those who write the criticisms, like Hank, are well read in the teachings of the afore mentioned. So each one of the authors of the posts are experts in the doctrine of Word of Faith. I think the only ones who know what they are talking about are you and Hank. The rest only know about the Word of Faith teachers what they have heard about them. Are we then guilty of proclaiming the opinions of others instead of forming our own opinions from our own observations. The Greeks would be reviled. Ed I am interested in knowing what Orthodox Christianity is. Is it Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Judaism, Baptist Doctrine etc? Why don’t we try fighting error with the truth instead of personal attacks. Jesus said the truth will set us free. So our weapons should embrace the truth. Do the Catholics have the only truth? The Baptists? The Methodists? The United Pentecostals? The Jehovah’s Witness? Us? It is pretty arrogant for any denomination to say they have all the answers. We need to admit that we all have some error in our doctrine. Especially since God doesn’t talk to any of us, to instruct us in the revelation of the mysteries of His word. I think we need to encourage one another to look into the scriptures and let GOD show us the truth. If I am in error about a behavior what does scripture say you are to do about it. Go and confront. If I won’t repent then take another so that by two or three witnesses all things can be confirmed. If repentance still is not forthcoming then before the church (forum). Then we are to treat them as a gentile. Paul takes the one who is remaining in sin and casts them to satan so they may be saved in the Day of the Lord. Not beat them up with words. It is God’s job to change us. He is the one who renews our minds. Let rebut error with the truth. Justme has been trying to get a string going about the things we have in common in our doctrines to no avail. I guess people like strife and discord better than harmony. Have you ever heard the message by Max Lucado the he delivered at the Promise Keepers pastor conference in Atlanta a few years back. He asked all in attendance to shout out their place of origin. The result was a cacophony of voices. A rumbling of indiscernible words. Then he asked them to shout the name of the Lord we serve. JESUS was the resounding call of all who were there. A word that reverberated around the arena. That is the answer to our discord. Ed I want to change you so bad, but it is not my job. I can not change you anymore than I can change the color of the sky. However, I know someone who can. If the sky needs changing He can and will do it. He may use me to plant His seeds of change or water the seeds of change but He is the one who will harvest. If some one won’t listen to the truth let God handle it. Remember LOVE NEVER FAILS. 115 | What does "being a homosexual" mean? | Rom 1:19 | Asis | 91811
Well said Megiddo We are told to judge the sin not the sinner. I can abhor the idea of practising homosexuality yet have compassion on those who think they trapped in that behavior. We must be careful when we judge because we set the parameters of our own judgement by how and why we judge. We are told that no man knows the things of a man (1 Cor 2:11), which tells us we do not know the heart of another except by the Spirit of God. Those of us who struggle with beleiving God, that we are dead to a particular sin and desire to put it away, yet have not reached that point of breaking relations with it, repent each time we find ouselves inexplicably back in the sin (i.e. pornography, alcoholism, drug addiction perscription and ilicit, gossip, lust, etc.). Our heart is to give it all up yet we seem to not be able to control ourselves. . . Are we as disciples of Jesus to condemn those who struggle. Were we condemned when we first believed and sinned or did we find that when we first believed we sinned no more. Are not those who profess Jesus and have a heart towards God God's business? not ours. Can we afford to judge them? I think not. We are to be in Christ. It is Christ who lives in us not us. We are to love as He loved, Have compassion as He had compassion, Heal those who He would heal? Are those homosexuals around us seeing the love of Christ in our lives, especially in how we relate to them? The bigger question is, "Are we taking in what the Bible says about our behavior and our relationship with God (the spirit of the word) or are we merely making a list of behaviors we must follow (the letter of the word) to be in right standing with God?" Just look at David. Are any of us any different? Enough. . . I step off the soap box. NEXXXT GENTLEMAN or GENTLEWOMAN. Asis |

116 | What benefit does Paul afford the Jews? | Rom 3:1 | Asis | 119533
sheckey Romans 2:29 states that it is being circumcised inwardly that makes on a Jew. All those who believe in our Lord Jesus have been circumcised of the heart. This is our condition. Inwardly circumcised outwardly . . . Col. 2:11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; God Bless, May the God the Father give you revelation and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 117 | Are all interpretations equal? | Rom 3:4 | Asis | 81713
Radioman2 I guess, maybe I didn't understand your question. I've come to rely on the word of God instead of others to tell me how to think. Any higher education, and I don't know exactly what that is, should teach us how to think not what to think. How to question. Any professor has a point of view and teaches his subject with the idea that his point of view is the correct and true point of view. Unfortunately they are mere men and if they move to another point, their point of view changes. My God sees all points of view and has the only correct view because He made all the points. We do not teach our students to think we teach them to regurgitate. If they think - they fail. So they come to believe that there is no absolute truth. When it comes to the way (Christianity) there IS absolute truth. It is what God has said. When this is refuted, when a relative truth is made doctrine, then it is not Christianity. If I have been saved, converted, filled with the Holy Ghost, made righteous, made a new creation, made a child of God, a joint heir with Christ, etc. Then I KNOW what the TRUTH is and am set FREE. So "Are all interpretation equal?" NO |

118 | Are all interpretations equal? | Rom 3:4 | Asis | 81735
Peter received his knowledge of scripture by some arcane mode of special revelation. Paul received his understanding of scripture by some arcane mode of special revelation. If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever Then He will renew my mind (Romans 12:2) like He renewed theirs. I put it in and He writes it on the heart of flesh He transplanted for my heart of stone. Peter: Acts 4:13 (NASB) 13Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus. Acts 2:14 through Acts 2:36 Paul: Rom. 16:25 through Rom. 16:27 (KJV) 25Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: 27To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. 1 Cor. 14:6 (KJV) 6Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? Gal. 1:10 through Gal. 1:12 (KJV) 10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. 11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal. 2:1 through Gal. 2:2 (KJV) 1Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. 2And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. US: Eph. 1:17 through Eph. 1:18 (KJV) 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Jesus revealed the scriptures to the men on the road to Emmaus. Luke 24:25 through Luke 24:27 (NASB) 25And He said to them, “O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26“Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?” 27Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. Now we have the Holy Spirit to instruct us. It is important for us to read the word of God in english and greek and Aramaic and MacCarther and Stanley and Capps and Hagin and Barnes and Finney and Wesley and Fox and any other version. But when I open my mouth, I want to teach, preach what Jesus teaches, preaches - The unshakeable kingdom of God and the unchanging person of Jesus. I want to die to self and let God use me as an instrament of rightousness. Lord speak through me, teach through me. Not I who live but You in me |

119 | Still an adulteress if I marry again? | Rom 3:22 | Asis | 88208
Did God make you wait to get forgiveness when you asked Jesus to be Lord of your life? How long did you have to wait, a day, a week, one year, two, are you still waiting. Being forgiven and having consequences for our actions are two different things. I don't know about you but when I believed I became the righteousness of God (Rom. 3:21-22). If my sins were not forgiven how could God say I am His righteousness because I believe. As a matter of fact If He says it, it must be. Ps. 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. [KJV] What does this verse mean? Does "Selah" mean in the future or later? As far as God forgetting my sins consider these scriptures. Jer. 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. [KJV] Heb. 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. [KJV] Heb. 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. [KJV] They seem pretty clear to me. We do have consequences for our actions. A murderer will be forgiven by God but may still be executed by the State. There are always consequences for our actions. Let's consider what Jesus said concerning adultery and an adultress. First the woman caught in adultery. Which are you, Jesus or the men He is talking with? John 8:1-11 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. [2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. [3] And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, [4] They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. [5] Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? [6] This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. [7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. [8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. [9] And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. [10] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? [11] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. [KJV] "Is thinking lustfully the same as taking the next step and do as David did? " You say NO. Jesus says: Matthew 5:27-32 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: [28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [29] And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. [30] And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. [31] It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: [32] But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. [KJV] Jesus says YES. As far as I know the only unpardonable sin is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. If in my heart I truly repent of any sin except the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit God forgives me. Who am I NOT to forgive sin that God has forgiven. Matthew 18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? [22] Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. [KJV] But not You? I don't think so. Forgiveness is a matter of the heart. It is between the one who has sinned and God. He knows the heart of a man not us. As for me, I will follow my Master and do my utmost to live and act as He lived. I cannot say the the writer of the original post is condemned by God is she has repented from a true heart. (Romans 8:1) If this is the condition of her heart then who am I to condemn. |

[KJV] There is no temptation that comes upon us that is greater than we can handle. WE NEED NOT YIELD TO IT. Praise the LORD. |
