101 | Jesus' Deity? | Rom 10:9 | Wild Olive Shoot | 178539
Dear Mommapbs, One can believe what they want. The truth of the matter, by denying Christ's deity, they are denying Christ. 1 John 1:2,3: 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:21-23: 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [(but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also]. I'm no Greek scholar either, so someone more educated than I will have to address that part of the question. Stand in His Grace WOS |

102 | I desire the gift of tongues how 2receiv | 1 Cor 12:11 | Wild Olive Shoot | 177856
Dear Faithful Husband, Brother Tim has given you some great advice, that is to present your request to God. Following is some commentary on 1 Corinthians 12:31 that helps me to understand what I should be desiring and why. Hope you find it helpful. WOS …”but if by the best gifts are meant the more useful ones of those before mentioned, as prophesying, or preaching, then the more excellent way designs grace, special and internal grace; and that either grace in general, regenerating, sanctifying grace, including all sorts of grace; which is the way of a soul's passing from the death of sin to a life of faith and holiness; and is the way to eternal glory, and which gives a meetness for it, and is inseparably connected with it. This is a more excellent way than gifts; for gifts, be they ever so great, may be lost or taken away, through disuse or misimprovement; but grace always remains, can never be lost, nor will ever be taken away, but will issue in everlasting life: men may have the greatest gifts, and yet not be saved, as Judas and others; but he that has the least degree of faith in Christ, hope in him, and love to him, shall be saved by him with an everlasting salvation: or particularly the grace of charity, or love to the saints, may be intended by the more excellent way; which is the evidence of a man's passing from death and life; the new commandment of Christ, and the fulfilling of the law; without which, a man, though he has never such great gifts, he is nothing as a Christian, nor in the business of salvation; and is the greatest of all the graces of the Spirit; and is of such a nature, that when prophecies, tongues, knowledge, and all external gifts shall fail, and even the internal graces of faith and hope shall cease, the one being changed for vision, and the other swallowed up in enjoyment, this will continue; and the rather this grace may be thought to be meant, since the apostle immediately passes to treat it in the next chapter, and prefers it to all gifts, and even graces.” … - John Gill |

105 | Is it an organization or Christ's body? | Col 1:18 | Wild Olive Shoot | 175470
JaCobb, Welcome to the forum. Here is some info I was able to put together. Hope this helps. Westminster Confession of Faith Chapter XXV Of the Church I. The catholic or universal Church, which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect, that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ the Head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fulness of Him that fills all in all. II. The visible Church, which is also catholic or universal under the Gospel (not confined to one nation, as before under the law), consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion; and of their children: and is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, the house and family of God, out of which there is no ordinary possibility of salvation. III. Unto this catholic visible Church Christ has given the ministry, oracles, and ordinances of God, for the gathering and perfecting of the saints, in this life, to the end of the world: and does, by His own presence and Spirit, according to His promise, make them effectual thereunto. http://www.reformed.org/documents/wcf_with_proofs/index.html Ephesians 4:11-13: 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: “Eph 4:12 - For the perfecting of the saints, The chosen ones, whom God has sanctified or set apart for himself in eternal election: the ministry of the word is designed for the completing the number of these in the effectual calling; and for the perfecting of the whole body of the church, by gathering in all that belong to it, and of every particular saint, who is regenerated and sanctified by the Spirit of God: for the best of saints are imperfect; for though there is a perfection in them, as that designs sincerity, in opposition to hypocrisy, and as it may be taken comparatively with respect to what others are, or they themselves were; and though there is a perfection of parts of the new man in them, yet not of degrees; and though there is a complete perfection in Christ, yet not in themselves, their sanctification is imperfect, as their faith, knowledge, love, sin is in them, and committed by them, and they continually want supplies of grace; and the best of them are sensible of their imperfection, and own it: now the ministration of the word is a means of carrying on the work of grace in them unto perfection, or "for the restoring or joining in of the saints"; the elect of God were disjointed in Adam's fall, and scattered abroad, who were representatively gathered together in one head, even in Christ, in redemption; and the word is the means of the visible and open jointing of them into Christ, and into his churches, and also of restoring them after backslidings: for the edifying the body of Christ; not his natural body the Father prepared for him; nor his sacramental body in the supper; but his mystical body the church; and gifts are bestowed to fit them for the preaching of the Gospel, that hereby the church, which is compared to an edifice, might be built up; and that the several societies of Christians and particular believers might have spiritual edification, and walk in the fear of the Lord, and in the comforts of the Holy Ghost, and their numbers be increased, and their graces be in lively exercise.” – John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible Ephesians 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. “Observe, The seat of God's praises is in the church. That little rent of praise which God receives from this world is from the church, a sacred society constituted for the glory of God, every particular member of which, both Jew and Gentile, concurs in this work of praising God. The Mediator of these praises is Jesus Christ. All God's gifts come from his to us through the hand of Christ; and all our praises pass from us to him through the same hand. And God should and will be praised thus throughout all ages, world without end; for he will ever have a church to praise him, and he will ever have his tribute of praise from his church. Amen. So be it; and so it will certainly be.” – Mathew Henry Colossians 1:16-18: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 106 | 14 yr old dressing inappropriately-HELP! | Eph 6:1 | Wild Olive Shoot | 174801
Dear psalm46v10, Brother Mark gave you some very well rounded and sound thoughts. If I can add to that… A few verses come to mind of which you have already recognized one: Ephesians 6:1 1Corinthians 8:12, 13: 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. “I make my brother to offend: this is truly Christian charity, a proof of brotherly love, and it shows a concern for the peace and welfare of others, when a person foregoes his own right, and drops the use of his liberty, rather than grieve, wound, and offend a brother in Christ.” - John Gill The verse from 1Corinthians, in my opinion, has a very broad application. Your Husband and his current wife are they Christians? They need to closely listen to your requests and wishes when it deals with your children. Although your children may not be under your direct guidance, you are their mother and your wishes should be respected, especially in dealing with their spiritual upbringing. Not taking into consideration the weaker Christian aspect, because this can vary greatly from person to person, but the charitable thing to do, once you know something is offensive to another, is to simply stop doing it for their conscience’s sake. There are many things I find non-offensive of which I’ll refrain from in certain company. Not because I think it is wrong, but simply because others may. Your position on this matter concerning your daughter surely needs to be considered by the others involved. All involved here, the father, stepmother, daughter and you need to be sure to take all feelings into account and reason to a suitable outcome, keeping Christian morals and principles in the forefront. With that said, you may want to approach the other parental unit and discuss this with them, which you may have already done to no avail. I would think you should also discuss with your daughter. Ultimately, it seems that she is wearing what she thinks is appropriate as well. If you can convince her that it may not be so, and explain why, she may reject the attire in question and even if it is purchased for her, she’ll opt not to wear it. It is most definitely what is on the inside that matters most. 1Peter 3:3,4; 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. To achieve an understanding on your daughter’s part, simply ask her to adorn these items and then proceed to gather with the congregation of a church. Most likely, she’ll feel the uneasiness and maybe get a feeling of how unbecoming some attire can be. I agree that our attire, as well our actions, does reflect to an extent where our hearts are. Stress that to your daughter as well. How does she want to be perceived by her peers and others? Does she set the example of who she truly is with her attire and actions? Ultimately, prayer for an acceptable resolution is your best course of action. God has control of the situation you can be sure. Find peace in that while you persevere in helping your daughter and her father and stepmother to understand your mind-set and why you feel the way you do. I hope this helps in some way. I’ll close with the following: 1Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; “The true idea here is, that her attention to her appearance should be such that she will be offensive to no class of persons; such as to show that her mind is supremely fixed on higher and more important things, and such as to interfere with no duty which she owes, and no good which she can do, either by spending her time needlessly in personal adorning, or by lavishing that money for dress which might do good to others, or by neglecting the proprieties of her station, and making herself offensive to others.” – Albert Barnes “They must be very modest in their apparel, not affecting gaudiness, gaiety, or costliness (you may read the vanity of a person's mind in the gaiety and gaudiness of his habit), because they have better ornaments with which they should adorn themselves, with good works. Note, Good works are the best ornament; these are, in the sight of God, of great price. Those that profess godliness should, in their dress, as well as other things, act as becomes their profession; instead of laying out their money on fine clothes, they must lay it out in works of piety and charity, which are properly called good works.” – Matthew Henry In Him, WOS |

107 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Hebrews | Wild Olive Shoot | 174580
Dear FytRobert, You state: “but his suffering was effected before he realised his wrong doings and asked for forgiveness.” Do you believe that David thought adultery and murder were acceptable? I’m quite sure he knew it was wrong as he tried to hide and cover what he had done from the eyes of men. Look at Psalm 51, written after or during the events that took place in 2Samuel 12. The chronology (lacking of a more identifying term) of these events as put forth by God in His Word is that David sinned (2Sa 11:4, 2Sa 11:15), was convicted and acknowledged and confessed his sin (2Sa 12:7, 2Sa 12:13), was forgiven (2Sa 12:13) but still suffered the consequences immediately and for years to come (2Sa 12:10, 2Sa 12:11, 2Sa 12:14). That’s how it is recorded as I read. Note that 2Sa 12:10 and 2Sa 12:11 were announced prior to David’s confession and 2Sa 12:14 was after. Nathan announced the death of the child after David’s confession. Concerning your two “systems” as stated, the need to ask for forgiveness is not appropriate. Forgiveness is granted through Christ. If I would insert confession in place of forgiveness, I see both “systems” as being applicable. My friend, just look around you and it won’t be but a minute before you see the consequences of sin in both the saved an unsaved. For the saved however, these consequences are temporal. For the lost, I would surmise that they could be both temporal and spiritual. Not to go too far off track, we still suffer the consequences of Adam’s sin do we not? Just my thoughts. WOS |

108 | how do we overcome the lust of the world | James 4:10 | Wild Olive Shoot | 174554
Dear Steveec, Welcome to the forum. The following comes to mind in answer to your question. In overcoming the lusts of this world, we must acknowledge that it is something that cannot be done of ourselves alone. James 4:7-10: 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. “Jam 4:10 - Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,.... Which is done, when men, before the Lord, and from their hearts, and in the sincerity of their souls, acknowledge their meanness and unworthiness, their vileness, sinfulness, and wretchedness, and implore the grace and mercy of God in Christ, as did Abraham, Jacob, Job, Isaiah, Paul, and the publican; and when they walk humbly with God, acknowledging they can do nothing without him; owning their dependence on his grace, and ascribing all they have, and are, unto it:” – John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible 1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. “God, who dwells in your hearts, and by whose strength and grace alone you have been enabled to achieve this victory, is more mighty than Satan, who rules in the hearts of the people of this world, and whose seductive arts are seen in the efforts of these false teachers. The apostle meant to say that it was by no power of their own that they achieved this victory, but it was to be traced solely to the fact that God dwelt among them, and had preserved them by his grace. What was true then is true now. He who dwells in the hearts of Christians by his Spirit, is infinitely more mighty than Satan, “the ruler of the darkness of this world;” and victory, therefore, over all his arts and temptations may be sure. In his conflicts with sin, temptation, and error, the Christian should never despair, for his God will insure him the victory.” – Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible Romans 8:35-39: 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. …” strength to perform duty and to bear sufferings is in Christ, and which he communicates to his people; he strengthens them with strength in their souls, internally, as the word here used signifies; by virtue of which they can do whatever he enjoins them or calls them to, though without him they can do nothing.” John Gill WOS John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. |

109 | Why is Jesus Not called the Messiah? | 1 John 5:1 | Wild Olive Shoot | 174233
The following is taken from Easton's Bible Dictionary: "Christ Anointed, the Greek translation of the Hebrew word rendered “Messiah” (q.v.), the official title of our Lord, occurring five hundred and fourteen times in the New Testament. It denotes that he was anointed or consecrated to his great redemptive work as Prophet, Priest, and King of his people. He is Jesus the Christ (Act_17:3; Act_18:5; Mat_22:42), the Anointed One. He is thus spoken of by Isaiah (Isa_61:1), and by Daniel (Dan_9:24-26), who styles him “Messiah the Prince.” The Messiah is the same person as “the seed of the woman” (Gen_3:15), “the seed of Abraham” (Gen_22:18), the “Prophet like unto Moses” (Deu_18:15), “the priest after the order of Melchizedek” (Psa_110:4), “the rod out of the stem of Jesse” (Isa_11:1, Isa_11:10), the “Immanuel,” the virgin's son (Isa_7:14), “the branch of Jehovah” (Isa_4:2), and “the messenger of the covenant” (Mal_3:1). This is he “of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write.” The Old Testament Scripture is full of prophetic declarations regarding the Great Deliverer and the work he was to accomplish. Jesus the Christ is Jesus the Great Deliverer, the Anointed One, the Saviour of men. This name denotes that Jesus was divinely appointed, commissioned, and accredited as the Saviour of men (Heb_5:4; Isa_11:2-4; Isa_49:6; Joh_5:37; Act_2:22). To believe that “Jesus is the Christ” is to believe that he is the Anointed, the Messiah of the prophets, the Saviour sent of God, that he was, in a word, what he claimed to be. This is to believe the gospel, by the faith of which alone men can be brought unto God. That Jesus is the Christ is the testimony of God, and the faith of this constitutes a Christian (1Co_12:3; 1Jo_5:1)." Welcome to the forum. WOS |

Ray Stedman discussed some very good points concerning the Saturday Sabbath, the Old Testament Sabbath in “The Seventh Day” by Ray C. Stedman. You can see in its entirety at the following link: http://www.pbc.org/library/files/html/0310.html He speaks of the Sabbath as being a “shadow” of the rest we have in Christ. This as well as the other Old Testament shadows looked forward to Christ as He fulfilled and ended them. “When the work of Jesus Christ was finished the shadows were no longer needed.” – Ray C. Stedman Colossians 2:16,17: 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Hebrews 4:8-10: 8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Act 10:13-15: 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. …“and he is bid to kill and eat of all the creatures without distinction, which were represented to him in the sheet; and the design of this was to teach him, that both the distinction between clean and unclean creatures in the law was now abolished, and men might lawfully eat of whatsoever they pleased; and that he might and should without any difference converse with all sorts of men, Jews and Gentiles, circumcised and uncircumcised, and preach the Gospel to one as to another, and maintain a church communion and fellowship with all equally alike.” John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible …“Rise, Peter, kill and eat: without putting any difference between clean and unclean, take which thou hast most mind to.” The distinction of meats which the law made was intended to put a difference between Jew and Gentile, that it might be difficult to them to dine and sup with a Gentile, because they would have that set before them which they were not allowed to eat; and now the taking off of that prohibition was a plain allowance to converse with the Gentiles, and to be free and familiar with them. Now they might fare as they fared, and therefore might eat with them, and be fellow-commoners with them.”… …” God, by a second voice from heaven, proclaimed the repeal of the law in this case (Act_10:15): What God hath cleansed, that call thou not common. He that made the law might alter it when he pleased, and reduce the matter to its first state. God had, for reasons suited to the Old Testament dispensation, restrained the Jews from eating such and such meats, to which, while that dispensation lasted, they were obliged in conscience to submit; but he has now, for reasons suited to the New Testament dispensation, taken off that restraint, and set the matter at large - has cleansed that which was before polluted to us, and we ought to make use of, and stand fast in, the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and not call that common or unclean which God has now declared clean.” – Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible 1Timothy 4:4,5 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Colossians 2:20-22: 20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? “Sensuality leads to false spiritualism. Their own inward impurity is reflected in their eyes in the world without them, and hence their asceticism (Tit_1:14, Tit_1:15) [Wiesinger]. By a spurious spiritualism (2Ti_2:18), which made moral perfection consist in abstinence from outward things, they pretended to attain to a higher perfection. Mat_19:10-12 (compare 1Co_7:8, 1Co_7:26, 1Co_7:38) gave a seeming handle to their “forbidding marriage” (contrast 1Ti_5:14); and the Old Testament distinction as to clean and unclean, gave a pretext for teaching to “abstain from meats” (compare Col_2:16, Col_2:17, Col_2:20-23).” – Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary Thus he declared all foods clean means just what it says. 115 | Did Christ make pork acceptable? | Mark 7:19 | Wild Olive Shoot | 172375
Dear Gentlebd, Mark 7:18, 19 (ASV) 18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? This he said, making all meats clean. Acts 10:9-15 (KJV) 9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Romans 14:13-18 (KJV) 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 116 | Can non-Christians be in praise band? | 1 Corinthians | Wild Olive Shoot | 172298
Matthew 5:14-16: 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. What has happened to our hospitality and our desire to take in the weak and weary, the blind and dumb? If this is a clear and effective means of inviting this non-Christian into the open arms of Christ, I think it should be considered. Can one not be introduced to a church atmosphere to the end that maybe they could have the opportunity to be moved and to see what worship and praise can truly be when rendered unto God. Where else is a non-Christian to go to learn of His Savior than to a congregation that can point Him to Christ and the Word of God? If band membership is the catalyst, why deny him that? Reach out to this person rather than shunning them because they are not Christian. Appoint a proper mentor or advisor for this person and ensure they conduct themselves in a manner worthy of participating in this band. Give them proper instruction and pray that their eyes and heart may be opened and softened. And then, should this prove to be ineffective, dismiss him with an explanation of why. But at least at that point, we tried. I can remember when I wasn’t a Christian or a professing one, can’t you? I remember when I was lost and as I do recall those dreadful days, I wish so mightily that someone could have reached out to me and pointed me to Christ so much sooner that it did happen. I missed many good years serving God. One of our problems anymore it seems, is that we continually shut these people out when we are under an obligation to Christ to bring these people in and properly give them the Gospel. If the music is an attraction, let it pull this person in, at the very least take the chance to speak the Gospel and see what develops. Matthew 9:11-13: 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. At times I think we squander too many opportunities to win another to Christ. Shame on us for casting away the sick when there is even the remotest possibility of letting them see our lights shine. And how brightly Christ can make them shine and how inviting that light can be. Now I’m not in any way claiming that entertainment should replace good sound Bible preaching but it can be used in conjunction with it and be a very effective outreach. Just my thoughts for what they are worth. WOS |

117 | god shouldn't send people to hell. | Bible general Archive 3 | Wild Olive Shoot | 171952
Muzka, You wrote: “I honestly want to argue with God over the issue. Actually I plan to when die. I just don't feel that sending people to hell for whatever reason gets them there is just too much of a punishment. Is it wrong for me to feel that way?” (sic) Personally, I think it is good you feel that way. Every soul is precious in the eyes of God and therefore should be to us as well. You should hate it when one is condemned to hell as much as the angels rejoice over one being saved (Luke 15:1-10). So do something about it!!! Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. You can argue with God, He’s capable of dealing with your argument. So go ahead and argue and when you finally realize that your argument is faulty and based on a defective view of God’s sovereignty, you may realize how just God is. And then, just maybe, you’ll focus on keeping others from Hell by speaking the Gospel and of the saving power there is in Christ. This is much better than wasting your time arguing, wouldn’t you think? Don’t worry so much about whether or not we send ourselves to Hell or if it is God, but know that the latter is the Judge. Know that without God’s grace, we would all be destined for Hell. I view it as such; we all are, or would be, hell-bound, if not for God and His mercy, that through our faith in His Son, He decided long, long, ago to save some. 1 Corinthians 9:22, 23: 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. “that I might by all means save some; that is, that he might be the means of saving some of Jews and Gentiles, and of all sorts of men; by preaching the Gospel of salvation to them, and by directing them to Christ, the only Saviour of lost sinners; thus he explains what he means by so often saying that he might gain them.” – John Gill By all means my friend, save some. Ephesians 2:8,9: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Salvation by grace through faith is a gift of God. No “works” we perform can in effect grant us our salvation. It is by God’s grace we are saved. WOS |

120 | what does it mean to be alive in Christ? | Eph 2:5 | Wild Olive Shoot | 171450
Ephesians 2:5, 6: 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: “He hath quickened us together with Christ. Our spiritual life results from our union with Christ; it is in him that we live: Because I live, you shall live also. 2. We who were buried are raised up, Eph_2:6. What remains yet to be done is here spoken of as though it were already past, though indeed we are raised up in virtue of our union with him whom God hath raised from the dead. When he raised Christ from the dead, he did in effect raise up all believers together with him, he being their common head; and when he placed him at his right hand in heavenly places, he advanced and glorified them in and with him, their raised and exalted head and forerunner.” – Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible WOS |
