Breezy, The following are needed: -Prayer. Ask the Lord to clear your mind of all else. This is key. -Plan or purpose. It is easiest to study a book of the Bible, so you know where to start. -Persistence. As said, start small. But, stay at the task for that time. The Lord may lead you to spend more time. -Priority. 10062 | Is God's Word Complete ? | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 32962
Robert, as you see there are other strings on this verse. My two cents is that we are selfish and therefore are not satisfied that the Bible is complete ... then when someone tells us something "new" we like it and follow after another god. S
10063 | Isn’t this playing with the text? | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 79236
The New Testament was orginally written in Greek ... but, you can think otherwise. BTW my sins put the Lord Jesus Christ to death. |

10064 | Truthfinder, why aren't Jews His people? | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 79237
Truthfinder You said, "They were no longer God's people and are not today" ... meaning the Jews. Prove it by Scripture. Romans 9:3-5 says they still are (Isa 11:11,12, 44:8; Eze 37:21,22). Searcher |

10067 | Why not sentences | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 97067
Stephen Langton divided the Bible into chapters in 1227 ... Robert Stephanus divided the verses for his Greek New Testament in 1551. You are correct ... one may read a verse, or even a chapter and miss the context. Reading the whole book may have been the author's inention ... with the expection of Psalms, which are a collection ....read the entire Psalm. The chapter and verse divisions, while they cause some problem, they are are convenient for reference and quotation purposes. Source: http://www.blueletterbible.org/faq/nbi/273.html |

10068 | Why not sentences | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 97090
Some Bibles aren't divided into paragraphs and even exclude headings. I think paragraphs make better sense where to break ... over verses and chapters. All four are not insipred.
10069 | Please I'm looking for your opinion! | Rev 22:18 | Searcher56 | 101990
This is basically true for the Western world ... we have changed what the Bible says and on (6) we need to be careful - I have seen churches grow in width and not depth (for each person) ... I am waiting for us to be persecuted, like our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world ... then we may see many (most) flee, because they don't truly believe.

10071 | Justify Leviticus 20:13 | Rev 22:19 | Searcher56 | 60270
So you want to remove Leviticus 20:13? Are there others? I suggest you read the above verse. The Bible may be offenisive, because men want to have it their way a.k.a. sin -- it is never archaic. Christainity is not "a way of controlling the masses and preventing creative, independent thought." It is a way of life, because of what God did for me and my accepting the gift of eternal life. God's day to you, loobylight, I would be very careful by the 'rewrite' ... If it violates the verse I cited DO NOT you could say what makes one hot, lukewarm or cold ... and continue with the rest of the passage. Are you preaching thru Revelation? Searcher |
