Having (I think) missed the preface to JVH's intitial response, I wonder if there is confusion over the commandments and ceremonial law or, shall we say, the summary that Jesus gave: "the Law and the Prophets are summed up into two commandments: Thou shalt love the Lord with all thy heart...etc...and thy neighbor as thyself". Just to give Mr. Scoffield or whomever spoke for him, the benefit of the doubt. I can see how it can easily be misinterpreted as a rejection of the 10 commandments rather than a "new light" on the 10 commandments! Not being a dispensationalist, primarily because I'm already a christian and dis-pen-sa-tion-al-ist is a pretty long name to tell people, or a follower of Scoffield because I really try to just follow Jesus, I think the commandments are designed to show us "HOW" to love one another. Blessing to you! |

2 | EXPLAIN REPLENISH | Genesis | userdoe215 | 8235
Um, no. This is that old pre-adamic race theory rehashed and unfounded in the scriptures. This theory roamed the hills of the theological landscape several decades ago.
3 | EXPLAIN REPLENISH | Genesis | userdoe215 | 8236
...and in context, Jer. 4:23 was referring to judgement on Judah. Just an FYI.
4 | Cities of Judah or Cities of Demons? | Genesis | userdoe215 | 8380
Morant seZ: "The problem I have with Benny Hinn is exactly this kind of teaching. There is not a shred of evidence to support what he is saying. But the problem even goes beyond this one issue. His theology is constantly this messed up. I wouldn't trust anything he says on any issue. " I must disagree. Although I don't agree with some of his "theology", he does encourage people to believe God for great things, not to see God as just one who looks on with "compassion". I would feel more comfortable with the Benny Hinn crowd, who sees the Great Lord of the Universe as one who can touch us physically, spiritually, emotionally and familially, than with stodgy Calvanists who portray God as one who picks and chooses and is pretty much done with what He's going to do. |

Thank you Nolan! And if it's taken as an "attack" then I've reached those who need to have their complacency shaken a bit. The road to Jesus is not paved with egg shells. There's not much the bretheran can say to offend me...I love them too much! But I digress... |

6 | Cities of Judah or Cities of Demons? | Genesis | userdoe215 | 8393
Hank, Nor am I willing or even prepared to post an expansive argument...mostly because I am a TERRIBLE writer. But, alas, contrast is the friend of the illiterate. Having many friends myself who lean toward the tulip filled gardens, I can only agree that there are truely Christians who are also Calvanists! But to the point: finding some the crazy ideas of Benny Hinn just as preposterous as those of the John Calvin, should I follow the conclusion of rejecting those who espouse flower power? Or should I look and see if they preach the gospel of forgiveness and redemption? Just a thought....the last one I have for today as I am quite ready to go home and be with my family! Blessings! |

I had no idea there was C. V. A. discussion! My apologies! But then again, I think there are times that I would rather engage in a C/A discussion than some of the discussion I've had with my "future" brethran that I work with. Sheesh, they are rougher than 10 grit sand paper and can make a leather-necked marine blush! But not being from Arminia, I can't really call myself an Arminian and couldn't really discuss Arminian theology very well. Are they Eastern Orthodox? Blessings! |

9 | Cities of Judah or Cities of Demons? | Genesis | userdoe215 | 8450
I'm not sure that there's much more interest in Benny Hinn. The pre-adamic issue is, well, better left for the Enquirer. The issue, as I see it through my scratched, plastic lenses, is: can a person have some crazy theology and still be an effective soldier for the Messiah? Feedback is welcome! Blessings! |

10 | Cities of Judah or Cities of Demons? | Genesis | userdoe215 | 8501
As someone who suffers from a chronic/acute and painful ailment, I must say that it is an interesting question! If a doctor is taught "modern" methods of cause and treatment, even though recent findings and research indicate a completely different cause, shall I stack them in my "snack oil" bin? But these same physicians are still effective for many things. So you see, "snake oil" and "witch's brew" have a different meaning to me-self. But shall I reject them? No. Can I enlighten them with what I have learned? Yes...if they are humble doctors (which, by the way, one of mine is). So how do I answer that! :) God bless you brother Hank! Blessings! |

CVA is a TLA (three letter acronym) for "Calvanist Vs. Arminian". Although my fellow coworkers think I'm CRAZY for my service to Jesus, I'm going to love them into the Kingdom. And they tested my metal to see if I'm real or not. So their crude comments don't offend me at all...Jesus died for them. "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us". I lost the blush long ago. The front lines are muddy and filled with barbed wired...but where else should we be! Blessings to you, brother Mark! |

Thank you Nolan! Um, yes, I'm very aware of Jacobus Arminius. And the "Arminian V. Calvin" debate has been in the boxing ring of our churches for far longer that the internet has existed. I hope I was not in the running for the "dead horse" award and, as such, have no interest in debating that which has already seen too much of the forgers hammer. :) Is there a place called Calvinia? Blessings! |

13 | Origins of baptism.... | Matt 7:13 | userdoe215 | 8481
Hank,Mark, etc.: because Jesus was baptized, baptism was already instituted. What were the origins of Baptism? Did it START with John (ref: "the baptism of John...et al.) or was it a Hebrew tradition at the time?
14 | Origins of baptism.... | Matt 7:13 | userdoe215 | 8505
Hank, thank you for the timely information. It was one of those questions that sat dusty in the reliquary of my mind. So should I speculate whether it was an institution established by our Lord for the time of His coming or was it used by God in the context of the culture? Blessings! |

15 | Are the gifts of the spirit for today? | 1 Cor 13:8 | userdoe215 | 8747
--MIRACULOUS GIFTS These gifts were to last "till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto the fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13).-- 1) I do not see that the Church has reached this yet! --THE NINE GIFTS The nine miraculous gifts (1 Cor. 12:8-11) relate specifically to the infant church when it did not have the completed revelation of God as we have today. There was a special need then that does not exist now. The gifts were to confirm the word (Hebrews 2:1-4). They helped the church grow and keep out false teachers (Eph. 4:11-15).-- 2) And is there no "special need" now? For example, the gift of healing: are there not sick people today? Spoken or Written does not the same argument hold true..to confirm the Word? And wouldn't the same argument hold true with the church growing and keeping out false teachers? --THAT WHICH IS PERFECT He puts a deadline and dateline on the miraculous gifts by saying, "Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away.."-- 3) What day and time were these gifts done away with? --But when Jesus' revelation came, miraculous gifts ceased and we have today perfect knowledge and prophecy in quality and quantity.-- If my memory serves me correctly, Jesus came and went before Paul became an Apostle. Correct? This has the appearance of dispensationalist philosophy. And the assumption is that there are no more apostles. I cannot find any evidence that dispenses with the gifts of the Spirit...to the contrary, there is evidence that because of the coming of the Spirit that the gifts would be even MORE prevelant now than ever! I can only attribute the lack of more demonstrations to faithlessness. Blessings! |

18 | I need to know if this is a cult? | Titus | userdoe215 | 8743
Nolan, I think you could have said that without "shouting" and without the "warnings"...it just doesn't seem like you to react this way! Blessings! |

19 | Mark what is driving you? | Titus | userdoe215 | 8744
Nolan, um, the last part sounds a little like what we used to call "Prayer-Preaching". So I now throw in the 2nd penny of my 2 cents worth. A question was asked regarding a dream. An interpretation was given, and angry rejection of dreams being from God was given (or at least 99percent), a middle ground set of questions was asked, and a fear of someone being unduely influenced was penned. Very interesting. So we find dreams and interpretations having a Biblical basis, yet we don't know how to respond to one that appears before us. I must then ask, do we seek the scriptures so as to apply them to our lives? Or is it merely the aquisition of knowledge ("Knowledge puffs up, but Love edifies"). Are there many of you who have no belief in a personal devil...and a bunch of them, for that matter? And what of a Personal God who speaks to us and communicates with us ("for my sheep know My voice")? Maybe these questions have be "around the block" before I came, so I ask them at the risk...of nothing. Blessings! |

20 | The dream was from God? | Heb 1:1 | userdoe215 | 8444
Dear JVH, me thinks you might be a bit strong in response to Mr. Sutton's remarks. As revealed, your sensiblities are offended because of your belief's: "I think more that 90 percent of a person's dream's have...". And, honestly, I can't walk around all day piecing scripture together to make sentences to speak. The scriptures are a source that helps us see how the Lord interacts with his creation but is no substitute for our relationship with God. If my sons sat around all, read about me, said things to me and walked off I would be offened! But if they came to me to hear me, and I them that would please me. Of course, I came to the Lord a little different than some. The Lord spoke to me directly that I wasn't right with him. And then I sought how to get right. That was 24yrs ago, and he still speaks. As someone once quoted: "when we speak to God it's called prayer, when God speaks to us it's called insanity". Blessings to you! |
