6 | What are our duties as man and wife | Eph 5:1 | tanne9595 | 142058
Greentwiga, Thank you so much for your quick response. I am studing 1 Cor. in my weds. bible study. Have recently been baptized. But not in my first marraige. In cor. it says something about being able to get a divorce if things are unbearable. Now what does that mean? I have been searching and searching for passages. And only find the ones in the old testment and some in the new. But a long time ago. I was told that divorce was recongized with physical cruelty, adultery or drunkenness. Yet, I don't find that in the bible. It is so hard to find what is right and wrong. Even though the bible is so clear on the way that we should live a christian life. Do you have anymore insight on this? |

Your knowledge is wonderful. I did not know to read the other half before I asked more questions. I can not thank you enough for your response. It is so much more clear to me know. And how to go about my life now. Now that there is so much tech. and all. Is fornication also concidered with porn sites and such.Isn't that putting lustful thoughts in your mind. When god says not to do that? Is that a form of cheating? In my mind it is. Because to want to look at sites like that is pure satan working. What are your views on this? |

8 | What are our duties as man and wife | Eph 5:1 | tanne9595 | 142066
Thank you very much for your insight and answers that I have been searching for. I value every word that you have written. I have for years believed in God. But did not take it to the level of studing the bible. Now, that I have hit 37 and had some rough roads in my life. I find that the reason for it. Was not having total trust in the lord. Being rebaptized and all. I want to walk as cleanly as us on earth can. We will always have that sin. But we can think things out more clearly with God's help. Things are not easy being married. It takes so much to make things work in this day and age. When I started reading the old testament. And then now the new. I see that we have it so much easier than before christ. But we still have the evils of the world to over come. The devil has put so much more temptation in our way. Trying to win the battle. But he won't win over god and the good that is in loving and believing he is the only savior. That only through him and his sacrifice for us on the cross. Can we strive to do the right thing. I am finding in my new searches that one says that the bible is black and white. And can only percieved as it is written. But I feel that is not the case. As no one reads and understand the same thing. Example. 10 people will read a verse and 10 different meaning they will get. When my dear friend and pasture. Told me of this web site. I logged right on. As it is nice to be able to get others views. And so far yours are exactly to how I believe. I can not thank you enough again. And god bless. I am sure that I will post other questions. There is so much that I want to learn and so much that I am confused on the passages. Hope that you will be the one to answer the next questions that I post when I need some help. Take care and god bless you. |

9 | What are our duties as man and wife | Eph 5:1 | tanne9595 | 142074
Yes, that is what I mean. For example before moving to South texas from Central texas. I attended First Christian. In the small town that I live in now. There is only a church of Christ. I love the people in the fellowship. But it is a very tight nit congregation. And they have views that I don't agree with. I went for a visit to my good friend. And asked him to baptize me. As I believe that it is not the name that is hung on the door of a church. It is what is in your heart. Many say that I am wrong on those views. But I don't know the passage. But I read that it is loving the lord and believeing that he is the son of christ that has died for our sins. So that we may ask for forgiveness. And if we are sincere in our asking. We are forgiven. I have asked one memeber to tell me where in the bible that it has a spacific name. As my preacher and dear friend said that there are 5 churches of christ in the town I used to live in. And in that each one studies the bible in a different way. For example. One memeber decided to open shop on Sunday and not attend church. The congrigation stood up and read this letter that they wrote this family. Telling them that if they did not come and ask for forgiveness of the church members that they were to not eat or associate with them. I almost feel out of my chair. As in my opionion. And we all have one. That if you push the one that is doing wrong away. How in the world will you convince him that what he is doing is wrong. To turn the other cheek and treat him badly. When I stated my view, I was told that there has to be dicipline in the church. And he must ask the members for forgiveness. I ask them if they were god. That are they going to stand next to this family on their judgement day. Saying I told you so. Or will this family stand by themselves on judgement day and have to explain why he or she did what they did. I said I do believe that it will be them alone that has to explain their actions. And that we need to love our brothern. Meaning you don't have to go and be best friends with this person. But not to turn your check if they walk down the road and say hi. Now, back to marriage and divorce. The book that I am studing right now is 1 Corinthians by Mike Willis. In chapter 7. Which caused me to write to this forum. There are questions that are kind of confusing. Example. There are six questions about false doctorines and how would I answer them. I had no answer. So I wrote my preacher. And he gave me his vies. If you have time. Could you tell me what your views on the 6 questions are? 1.Paul says that every man should be able to marry in order to avoid fornication. 1 Cor. 7:2 2.Is it better to marry than to burn in lust? 1 Cor. 7:9 3.If one's mate deserts him, he is not under bondage. 7:15 4. Paul teaches that Jesus Teaching on divorce and remarriage in Matt. 19:9 does not apply to non christians. 1 Cor. 7:12. Therefore, those who wish to be baptized should stay with the mate they are married to at the time of baptizm. 5.Paul teaches Christians to abide in the calling wherein he was called 1 Cor. 7:20. A person should stay in a marriage he is when he is baptized. 6. Paul tells those divorced "loosed" That they have not sinned if they remarry. I have the answers from my preacher. But would like to see if yours are somewhat the same. My pastor also said these words to me. " Some times remarriage after a divorce is portrayed as a sin which god will not forgive. Thie is an error. Jesus specifically says only one sin is not forgivable, and that is the sin against the Holy Spirit Matt. 12:31 Aslo in every age since the beginning the divil would do his work starting with the family. The family is vulnerable because we are weak as human beings. God knows this, as the Psalmist says " HE knows how we're made. He remembers that we're dust. Psalm 103:14. Because God is our father and creator, he is able to love and forgive us our most awful offences. He taught us to pray " forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us" If we can forgive those who sin against us in relationships. Then surely god can do so even more". No, matter your answer. I am the type of person that honors and excepts and loves all that have their own opinion. As that is why we are all so different. Never is one person better than the other. We all have our own special way of thinking. But the bible is clear yet unclear as God has made us our own individual being. Or we would not have other views. If that makes any sense. I am searching so hard. And I pray that the right anwers will come. As I need some insight right now in my life. Thank you again for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. If and when you answer those 6 questions. I will let you know if you and my preacher see it the same way. I will give you his answers to the question. I can not give you mine. As I did not know the answers. |

10 | What are our duties as man and wife | Eph 5:1 | tanne9595 | 142086
Yes, God loves me more than my own family. Jesus died for us so that we may be forgiven of our sins. I beleive all of that so very deep in my heart. As a child I wanted to go to church. But was in a family that did not really believe. I would go any chance that I got. You have such knowledge of the bible. You must have been studing it for years. The answers that my preacher gave me to each question are like yours. Here is just the answers he gave. 1.This is true of a divorced person as well as a never married person. It is wrong for any person, single or divorced to commit fornication. 2. This is true wwhether their marriage was disolved on scriptural or non-scriptural grounds. 3.This is true regardless of what might have occured prior i.e. another marriage to the desertion. 4.Paul really doesn't teach that Jesus teaching about divorce exempts anyone. Jesus said himself it applies to "anyone" Matthew 5:31 5.A person should remain in the "situation he was in when God called him" To fail to do so is to sin. It is not, however, an unpardonable sin. When David took another man's wife, she became his wife and God sen the prophet to say "The Lord has taken away your sin..." 1Samuel 12:13. IF forgiveness was possible under the old Testament with the cross, isn't it even more so now under the blood of Jesus? 6. Yes, he does say that those who have been loosed from a companion are free to marry and will not commit sin if they marry. This , however , goes back to the priciple taught earlier it is better to marry than to burn with lust. I am sure you are a smart enough person to know that I am having troubles in decideing what to do with the life that I have now. However, I don't want to write it down for the world to see. I have to thank you so much for your insight. And hope that the next few letters will lighten my heart. You were right to stand by your daughter. I have a daughter that is graduating this year. I am very proud of her. She holds a 4.0 grade adverage. She is apply to college to get a doctorine in phycology. She is as smart as her father. As you can see by my spelling she excells past me. I look forward to your next letter. God bless you. |

16 | lessons for children that lie | Rev 21:8 | tanne9595 | 146232
Thank you Janae, But that is a little harsh to try and teach an 11 year old that lying is wrong. I am the step mother and it is an everyday occurrance. And it just has to stop somehow. If his lips are moving he is lying. We go to church faithfully. I just need to find a way to show him in not such a harsh fire and brimstone way. Any suggestions? Tonya |

Thank you so much Janae, that really helps a lot. And you are right. There is no sugar coating lying. It is wrong and the sooner that one realizes it. Although we all know that is wrong. As we learn it from a young age. I have printed your letter out. And had him read it. Have a safe and wonderful weekend. God bless you. Tonya |
