1 | Is the Promised Land the Israel of today | Not Specified | saltoftheearth | 41825
Is the land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and mentioned all through Genesis, Exodus, and in other books of the Bible the same land the jews occupy today--Israel? When did they take possession of it, and how do we know for sure that this is the "Promised Land" spoken of in the Bible? Someone asked me the other day why we should support the Israelis as opposed to the Palestinians in this war and I wanted to say because this land was given to them by God. But I didn't feel confident enough about how to answer the further questions that were sure to come. Can anybody help me? Thanks!

3 | Thanks Emmaus | Not Specified | saltoftheearth | 64392
Emmaus--Thanks for your great answers. They helped alot in my understanding. The Bible is so completely comprehensive that sometimes it is hard for my finite mind to put it together into one picture. I guess as you mentioned with all the different writers and styles of writing, that needs to be taken into consideration, too. It's just so exciting when one more thing becomes clear. What a mind our God has!!!!!!! A lifetime isn't even a drop in the bucket of understanding!!!! Thank you again. Saltoftheearth

My friend's sister is going to see a fortune teller and my friend has told her that she believes God's Word speaks against it, she is looking for specific scriptures for her to read. The sister is very concerned and is anxious to read what the Bible has to say about it. Can you help me with Scriptures that pertain to that subject? THANKS!
5 | What does the Bible say RE:gambling? | Not Specified | saltoftheearth | 165444
A group of girls I work with like to get together once a month or so to do something together. This month they have decided they want to go to a local casino. I do not feel comfortable there and could probably just beg off, but I feel that as a Christian, I need to give an answer for my convictions. What does the Bible specifically say about gambling? How can I answer their questions, especially since the one girl who had this idea is very vocal about her Christianity and needs to hear a Biblically based answer. Thanks for any help.

9 | Cease Striving-Rest in His Love- | Is 30:15 | saltoftheearth | 41661
I don't know who put this verse on here, but I think it came directly from God's own hand to me. I have been so worried about having the money to attend our son's graduation 1000 miles from home this month, and have been racking my brain trying to figure out a way. Well, He's in charge of my life and He loves that boy more than we do, and I will keep this verse before me before, during and after this trip. Praise the Lord for His goodness and His interest in every detail of our lives! And thank you, grace, for that word. God led me to this place tonight!

I have just returned to my question of 4-4 and want to thank you all for your help--with the possible exception of jdth cstl. WOW! I believe that Israel is the land God promised to the OT Israelites and I believe that Armageddon will be a very real war between good and evil that we are only seeing the early rumblings of now. And I will do a study on the enemies they had to drive out--sounds very interesting. Again--thank you all! And may God bless you for sharing your insight.
13 | Is today the only day of salvation for a | 2 Pet 3:1 | saltoftheearth | 40997
I think perhaps your interpretation of the word "day" is the problem. I believe "day" refers to the age of grace that we are living in. Jesus went to the cross, took our sin upon Himself, died, and rose again-He defeated death and provided a way for us to also defeat death and be with Him forever. He did not fail, but those who have turned their backs on His incomparable plan of salvation through their own free will have failed Him, and yes, they are lost and without hope. But God is not in the business of forcing anyone to love Him and accept the free gift of His Son. I remember hearing once that if those who did not love Him in this life were forced to go to heaven, it wouldn't be heaven for them-it would be hell. We were all given a will to choose how we want to live our lives, and if we reject God, it is our decision, not His failure. I love Him with all my heart, soul, and mind. He is my everything! 2 Corinthians 6:2 is the verse you referred to in your question, I think. Please look up 2 Peter 3 and read it to get an idea of God's timetable and remember that He wins in the end! God bless you and please excuse my poor but sincere attempt to answer your question.

Emmaus, thanks for your response to my question--now I have another! Is it generally held that Satan was cast out of heaven before the time of Adam? If so, he obviously still had access to God and heaven [Job 1 -2, for example]. Would that mean that the account we read of the dragon [Satan] in John's vision in Rev. 12 being hurled to the earth perhaps mean his final exclusion from access to God and heaven? Is it generally held that this will occur at the beginning of the period of tribulation? Thanks for the assistance!
