Since we are no longer under the "Law" in the OT we are not under the Law of the Ten Commandments. When the bible tells us in the NT "if we love God we will keep his commandments, the rich young ruler ask Jesus how to enter eternal life and he says to obey the commandments and then quotes the last 6 of the Ten Commandments written in Law of the Old Covenant. In the book of Rev. it tells us three times that Christ will return for a church who keeps the commandments and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Under the new covenant the bible tells us that God would write His commandments on our heart. My qestion is what commandments are they? |

5 | Need to understand the Trinity... | Bible general Archive 1 | rferg | 71136
Greetings! At one time I thursted for the truth about the trinity. The more I listen to the answers Christians gave to me the more I was confused. I prayed and asked God to help me understand and this is what I got. It will probably seem strange at first because I have never heard this in a church but God knows me and my small mind. So I hope this will help you clear up any questions you may have or at least give you a foundation on to re-read the bible and re-new your thinking. Trinity means (three) tri-une God. You know the saying three in one. I will explain the trinity like a word picture. It's the way that was shown to me. I wrote it down drawing a line down the middle of a paper. Realizing the similarities between the earthly families and the spiritual families of God. God is a spiritual family. Like our earthly families God (Father, Son and the Holy Spirit) is their last name and not their first. So lets start here with first rearranging of our thinking. There is Abba Father (he is Father God), Jesus Christ the Son (he is the Son of God) and the HOly Spirit (Spirit of God). They are all three in the spiritual family of God. In the spiritual family of God there is a chain of command. The Father is the first in command and the son is second. They have different funtions just like our earthly families. They all three have the same nature, righteous without sin. Our earthly families all have the same last name but we rarely refer to everyone by their last name as we do God. We are born with the same nature (sinful not righteous). There is a chain of command with the Father being first and so on. Just as our earthly family can be added to so also can the spiritual family. When we are born again into the body of Christ we become the spiritual children of the family of God. There is a line to cross over so to speak. No, I am not saying we are God's I am saying we take on the nature of Christ. We are transformed daily until Christ returns. One of the confusions come when we read the bible and we see the word "God". Next time you do ask yourself this question, God who. Father God, the Son of God or the Holy Spirit of God. They are seen seperately or collectively (all together.) When Jesus was being baptized his Father opened the heavens and said this is my Son in whom I am well pleased. Here you see the Father speaking to His Son. The Holy Spirit assended upon Him like a dove. The Father sending the Spirit to His Son. So here we see the Father, Son and Holy Spirit all seperately and all with a different function. Read Proverbs 8:22-36 great explanation of how things began. John 1:1 was always so confusing now it's very easy to understand. Let's use the principal of asking God who. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Who was the Word? Jesus John 1:14. So in the beginning was Jesus and the Word (Jesus) was with God. Who was Jesus with? God. God who? God the Father. So Jesus was with God the Father in the beginning. 2He was in the beginning with God. Who is He? Jesus becauss Jesus was in the beginning with God the Father. 3. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Who is Him? Jesus. Read Prov. 8:22-36 We are to baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit the family of God. This vision or word picture God gave to me has made God real to me. I know the Father has a plan for me from the beginning. I know Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father praying and enterceeding for me. I know that the Spirit of the living God lives with in me. I am the temple of the Holy Spirit of God who teaches me, guides me, comforts me in all things, convicts me of sin and helps me pray the perfect will of God. Now I know God. I pray to the Father in the name of His Son Jesus Christ. I thank Jesus for obeying His Father until death to save us from sin, which is death and speration from God eternally. I ask the Holy Spirit to forgive me for greiving Him. Sin grieves the Holy Spirit. We belong to Jesus, we are the body of Christ the kingdom of God and soon and very soon Jesus is going to return (1Thessolonians 4:13-18 and collect the body of Christ His Church, or the bride of Christ, and at one point He will turn the kingdom over to His Father. This is just too simple I know. Sincerely in His Love |

6 | Need to understand the Trinity... | Bible general Archive 1 | rferg | 71347
My friend, We do not need to be God to understand the Trinity! God certainly wants his creation to understand who and what God is. God is not a God of confusion. I studied the Trinity for a long time. I received these kinds of responses to my questions. How can you expect someone to know who God is by an explanation like this? There is no love, effection, no life or anyone to have a relationship with. I will explain it in a word picture so to speak. The Trinity (God) is a family. Just like we have an earthly family on earth the Father God, Jesus -Son of God and the Holy Spirit-God are a spiritual family in heaven. Like in our earthly families we have a last name and several members in our families so does God of course he created us in their likeness. There are 5 members in my family we are all different and have different functions but we are all know by the same family name, our last name. There is a chain of command the Father being the first and the son the second and the so on and we have the same in our earthly families. The spiritual family of God are all righteous they have the same nature and are in unity with each other even with their different funtions. Our earthly families are born with a sin nature until we are baptized into the body of Christ and become spiritual (no I don't mean a God) I mean we are righteous because Jesus died for us. Like our earthly families we can add to them the spiritual family of God can be added to. When we are born again we become the children of God. The confusing part is we say God and know one can figure out who God is because there seems to be three but the bible tells us there is but one God. We don't address people by their last names first. Re-read the NT and ask yourself God who when it is referring to God. Abba Father-God, Jesus Christ the Son of -God or the Holy Spirit of God. You will see them individually or collectively (all together). When Jesus is being baptized you see Jesus being baptized and the heavens upen and the Father saying this is my Son in whom I am well pleased and the Holy Spirit descending upon Him. We see all three individually all working together. In the OT God was referred to usually collectively. One God. Abba Father hadn't sent his Son Jesus to the earth yet. John1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Who was the Word? Jesus John 1:14. And Jesus was with God. God who? God the Father. And the Word (Jesus) was God. God Who? The Son of God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. Who is He? Jesus He was in the beginning with God. God who? God the Father. Read Prov. 8:22 3 All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Read Gen.1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God who? The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 2 we see the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. Gen 1:26 Then God said, Let "us" make man in "our" likeness, according to Our likeness. Notice that us and our are plural. More than one. But the bible says there is only one God. Here we see that the family of God are working together to create man in his image. Hope this helps you to see there is one family of God with three distinct persons in that family they are a spiritual family. |

7 | Need to understand the Trinity... | Bible general Archive 1 | rferg | 71444
Hello I'm not a history buff but I have been a christian a long time and could not find the answer that made any sense to me. But I have studied this subject for a very long time and I prayed and asked God to help me understand Him. So I could love something and someone who was real to me and that I knew had a plan for me and loved me. I have a limited education and it takes me a long time to understand. This is when one night I recieved this word picture. I took a piece of paper and drew a line at the top of the left side I wrote (earthly family) at he right side I wrote (heavenly famil) things unfolded from their. After I wrote Abba Father -God, Jesus Son of -God and Holy Spirit of -God they were on top of each other and I could see that God was like our last name and then I realized God was a family. Things unraveled from there and still are. I don't know why God Showed me this. But I have been asking for a long time. Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and you shall recieve. It has bothered me for years that know one could explain this to me. Most Pastor's use the Jesus when they should be using the Father's name and viceversa. In my heart I feel it is a clear message I can share with others so they can believe in a real God and when they read their bible for themselves they can understand it and thirst for more of it. God Bless! |

The word Trinity is not in the bible even though it is used to discribe a tri-une God. I don't know about understanding the "trinity" as the church as tried to understand it but I do understand the "Family of God" being the Abba Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God and the Holy Spirit of God. ONE FAMILY OF GOD. I'm a child of God who has studied this subject for years earnestly seeking the truth not what a denomination believes. I have been persecuted, ridiculed, etc. God is reavealing truth to those who seek Him in the last days.

This subject is a debated issue. We hear in church that baptism is an out ward show of the inward work. My question is why do new believers need to show an out ward sign to believers? It dosn't make sense to me. Now if we were showing to the world or lost that we were changed that would be different. Through baptism we die in a shallow grave of water to the old nature and rise a new creation in Christ. The old is past away and the new has come. We are washed in the blood of Jesus (like a blood transfusion) instead of sinful blood we now have the righteous blood of Jesus running through us. We didn't deserve this righteousness but Jesus is our righteousness. Our bodies become the temple of the Holy Spirit. We make a new covenant with God that we will obey his commandments- to love God and to love each other. Some things to think about! Did Jesus need to be baptized for the remission of Sin? NO of course not. I believe he was our example. Why was Jesus baptized before he began to preach the gospel? What happened when Jesus was baptized? He recieved the gift of the Holy Spirit. What if he wouldn't have been baptized as scriture prophesied? He wouldn't be able to give us the gift of the Spirit for one thing. Read the entire book of acts to your son. There is example after example (and I don't just mean one or two) every believer was immediately baptized. 1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Realize that as a believer that you want to be apart of the body of Christ (not the physical chruch you attend a few times a week). When you are baptized you become part of the body of Christ. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise and you cannot be stolen out of His hands. When you are apart of the body (His body) read all of 1 Cor. 12 you will see that you have apart to do in the body of Christ. This is an interesting scripture to me. In John 3 Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." Jesus answered and said to him Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again , he cannot see the kingdom of God.4 Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mothers womb and be born can he? 5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh (born in the physical during child birth) and that which is born of Spirit is spirit. 7Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again. You cannot be re-born unless you first die. Notice it says unless you are born of the water and the Spirit, it already talks about being born in the flesh (child birth), many refer to the water in the birth bag as the water it's referring to)but this couldn't be it referrs to being born (physically) as born of the flesh. When we are baptized in water we die to our nature we were born with and we are reborn a new creation by the Holy Spirit of God in Christ. So if we are not baptized we are not born again. Most churches preach other wise. They seem make us believe if we are in a crissis and come to church listen to a sermon and raise our hand and sight a few sentences we are born again. Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved, but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Many chose to use the example of when Jesus was on the cross there were two theives. One realized Jesus was the Christ (savior of the world) and he repented. Jesus said he would be him (Jesus) in paradise, meaning heaven. He was not baptised how could he go to heaven? We can use this as an excuse not to get baptized or we can let it show us that God is loving and merciful. If we believed in our heart and we were killed on the way home from church we would certainly enter heaven. But this one example should not overshadow the many scripture that teach us about baptism. I think the problem is that we have been taught that we need to be baptized in the Church by a paster. In the bible it gives us the example that the diciples are the ones who baptized when they presented the gospel to unbelievers. This means you can be baptized in your pool, lake or river by the person leading you to Christ. There is proof of this all through the book of Acts. We don't have to wait for the orgainized chruch once a month or quarterly. So this is what I know from my study on the subject. I hope you will sift through it will a fine tooth comb and move in the direction God has for you and you son. Sincerely |

Greetings! Mark 16:16 clearly states "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved." Why wouldn't you want to be baptized into the body of Christ, the kingdom of God? Why do so many resent and resist baptism? At the beginning of Matthew, Mark , Luke and John the writer is trying to prove the diety of Jesus that He is the Son of God. The very next thing is for sinners to repent and be baptized by John the baptist, then we see Jesus coming to John 3:13 Then Jsus arrived from Galilee at the Jordon coming to John, to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me? 3:16 And after being baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water, and hehold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and coming upon Him. Jesus was baptized in water in the Jordon (not a church building) during that time he recieved the promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit from His Father. Did Jesus need to be baptized to wash away His sins? NO, of course not. But when He was baptized He recieved the Holy Spirit. After He was baptized and recvd. the Spirit is when he started preaching the Gospel. Jesus is our example! We need the Holy Spirit living in us. We are a temple of the Holy Spirit. Notice that at Pentecost all who believed were baptized that day adding the their number 3000. All who believed. The entire book of Acts is filled with example after example of every believer wanting to be baptized even in the middle of the night. There is no mention, not even once of anyone who didn't want to get baptized or who question baptism as a part of salvation. I personally think we have a misunderstanding of what baptism is. This is the reason why we don't think it's important to be baptized. It is a Spiritual act for those who believe. The most important aspect of baptism is being filled with the Holy Spirit. That's why the devil wants you to believe it's not important. Also as your reading the bible notice it is those who are preaching the gospel (disciples) who are baptizing. When we as children of God (disciples) lead someone to Christ we can baptize at that time in water. This is the religious hinderance to baptism. I disagree with your interpatation of John 3:5. If you begin at the beginning of John and move forward you will see after the deity of Christ, the witness of John the Baptist and Jesus being baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit then Jesus begins His ministry of preaching the gospel. John 3 begins with the 2 births, physical and spiritual. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit (Jesus was baptized in water and filled with the Holy Spirit during that experience), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (this is the born again experience). In verse 6 he says that which is born of the flesh is flesh (physical birth). So through baptism in water we are born again (shallow grave) dying to our old self and being re-born of the Spirit. Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Spirit. He gives us this gift just as the Father gave it to Him. I believe the point in verse 8 is speaking about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is not something we can put our hand on or show to others it's like the wind, you know the presence but you are not in control of it. Now in John 3:14 it gives us the example of Moses lifing up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up. Numbers 21:9 is the example. 15 that who ever believes may in Him have eternal life. Read Numbers and notice what they had to do. There was an action to their belief. They had to look up at the bronze serpent if they beleived or they died. Why would this scripture be here? For an example to those who believed. Then we go to John 3:16 and by it's self is taken out of context. Those who believe will have everlasting life. But if you continue to read to verse 22 it say After these things Jesus and His desciples came into the land of Judea, and there He was spending time with them and baptizing them. 23 And John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there: and they were coming and were being baptized. 26 And they came to John and said to him, Rabi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have borne witness behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him. 3:33 He who has received His witness has set his seal to the, that God is true. 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for He gives the Spirit without measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hands. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but wrath of God abides on him. Continues on in chapter 4 about baptizing. Belief is an action. |

When Paul was baptized it was for an example to all believers. In the book of Acts it tells us to follow after the examples of the Apostles. Aslo Acts 2:35-40 38 And Peter said to them Repent and let each of you be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off as many as the Lord shall call to His self. We are baptized for the forgiveness of sins. We repent then the water washes away our sins. Then we recieve the Holy Spirit. |

Greeting BradK! I don't know what the Chrurch of Christ's doctrine is. I don't have my bible in front of me at the moment to give scripture. But I believe that the water in baptism represents the blood. The bible says we are washed in the blood of Jesus. I gave scripture that says to repent for the remission of sin and be baptized. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit during batism. Sincerely |

16 | Which Church is the right one? | NT general Archive 1 | rferg | 71454
Dear Friend, I'm sure many who attend all denominations and non denominations wonder the same question. I know I have and I could never find an answer that convinced me. So I did some praying and studying of my own. If you care to hear this is what I have come up with for myself. It's starts with a process of illimination! First I illiminated all religions who didn't use the Bible. Then I elliminated all religions who added another book to the Bible (Mormans, Catholics, Karon etc.) The bible says not to add any other book to the bible, Rev 22:18. Then I discovered an interesting poin as to why the bible is very different from every other book in the entire world. It is 2/3rds prophecy. That means most of world history was foretold. Which kingdoms rose and fell, how many kingdoms there will be, not to mention the birth of Christ and where it would be and when. No other book can tell this because only God knows the beginning to the end. Much of the bible is recorded in the Book of Mormon and the Karon but the Karon and Book of Mormon are not recorded in the Bible. I also dicovered in the book of Revelation 3 different times God say's He's returning for a type of Church. It discribes this church as keeping the commandments of God and the testemony of Jesus Christ Rev. 12:17, 14:12, 22:14. If God is coming back for a church who keeps His Commandments the church better figure out which ones they are. I don't know about you but I need to know because I intend to be apart of the church He's returning for. Which commandments are they reffering to? Good question since the church or at least anyone I have asked cannot explain it to me. But the bible tells of a story about the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17 this young man came to Jesus and ask what he must do to enter the Kingdom of God. Jesus tells him to keep the commandments. Jesus then quotes the last 6 commandments which teach us how to love our neighbor (the first 4 Commandments teach us how to love God. These commandments Jesus quoted were the Ten Commandments. In 1 John 2:3 And by this we know that we have cme to know Him, if we keep His commandments.4 The one who says, I have come to know Hin and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. The church ignores this statement. I want to know what commandments we need to keep to know that I know God don't you? Continue to read all of 1John. Here's where the problem lyes in the church. Supposedly the Ten Commandments were under the Law and we are no longer under the law but grace. So the TC's don't apply to us. There is something wrong. This does not correspond with revelation or Jesus answer to this young man to such an important question and many other scriptures. The reason why I believe that the TC are explained away and scripture so twisted that it took years of studying to unravel it, is because if they were still in effect the "Christian Church" would be breaking one of the commandments. The "Christian Church" goes to church on the 1st day of the week and not the seventh, which is the Sabbath. If this were true that would mean that every church who attended church on Sunday would be illiminated as the true church, why because the bible says in Rev.22:19 not to take away the words of this book God would take away his part from the tree of life. The Roman Catholic Chuch changed the Sabbath (Saturday) to Sunday and the "Protestant" Christian church followed suit. I have much more to say but may be running out of room. Disgest this and ask me some more later. God Bless |

I'm not Tim but I will give you my two cents! People don't witness to the lost because they have not found the answers to their own questions and are afraid they won't be able to answer someone elses. Churches are not set up for the common person to really teach people to study their bibles for themselves, by subjects. So they just go as a ritual and sit on the pews each week. (Ask a person who says they are a Christian a question about the bible and most don't know. They don't know the truth fully about any subject or course show me a church who teaches subject's instead of telling you their point of view and using a scripture here and there and I will fall over.) Who's fault is it that we sit on pews and don't know the bible? Well the Pastor's can say it's the peoples because they don't read their bibles. The people come to the church learn and to be taught. The preacher preaches from the pulpit with no question and anwer time (conversing). Do you think when Jesus or Paul spoke for hours that they didn't let people ask questions and then they responded? Of course they did because that's how most of learn is through conversing. But if the Pastor's are the only ones who "KNOW" we are to listen with no questions asked. Hog Wash!!! I'm tired of this. The reason why Pastor's do this is because they really don't know much more than a few people in their congragations. Thank for letting give my oppinion why people don't witness. |

CEBJ You might want to get a book of cataicism (sorry I can't spell) and look up the Ten Comandments written in it (somewhere around pg 50 0r 60.) You will notice that the second commandment is taken out completely, which states not to have any graven images. The third commandment is then quoted as the bibles fourth commandment which states to keep the sabbath Holy and not to do any work on it. At the end a commandment is added I beleive it's in the nineth position so there is still Ten Commandments from removing the second. Also check for yourself under the 3rd commandment that it states that the Catholice church changed the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. It also says that the Protestant church pays homage because it follows suit. This is not what my Holy Bible says. AS for as Col. 2:16 This scripture is referring to meat and drink offerings, new moon and sabbath days under which are related to the feast which were under the Levitical Law. We are no longer under the Levitical Law. The sabbaths were kept during the feasts. sincerly |
