4 | "If" we sin .... | Not Specified | pgs | 80870
Would someone please explain to me why 1 John 2:1 and 1 John 3:6 seem to be contrary to each other? In 1 John 2:1, John states that "if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense - Jesus Christ." Then in 1 John 3:6 he states "no one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him." 1 John 2:1 implies we may continue sinning, as all Christians do, and reassures us that we have an advocate and intercessor in our Lord Jesus Christ. Whereas 1 John 3:6 teaches us that we will not continue sinning once we have accepted the Lord and walk with Him. And if and when we do stray and make mistakes He is no longer in us and we have never truly known him. I am fully aware that once we're saved we will still stumble from time to time, but will always be forgiven as taught in 1 John 2:1. So why are these two verses so contrary to each other? |

12 | How can God be just? | Not Specified | pgs | 196879
How can God be just if he sends people who don't know Him to hell? Many good people don't have the opportunity to learn of the salvation message and His grace due to upbringing and family heritage, or false teaching/prophets.
13 | Jesus's birth to ministry | Not Specified | pgs | 203423
Between Jesus' birth and His three year ministry on earth, were the Jews and Gentiles aware that He was the prophesied Messiah? Why did Jesus' importance diminish after the shepherds honored His birth and the Magi's visit?
14 | Wishful praying? | Not Specified | pgs | 211179
In John 14:13-14 Jesus says "And I will do whatever you ask in my name.......You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it." And in John 15:7 He says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." NIV I understand and believe that the Lord hears all our prayers, but answers them according to our best interests, not always what we "wish" for. So, these verses are confusing to me. |
