Rowdy, my first post and I wasn'tfamiliar yet. Ressurection of the dead is only one particular question. The biggest question is how I can cope with listening to what I believe are some very serious bible scholars, walking with the Lord much longer than I, and listening to them say things that I cannot find in scripture. That places me in a dangerous frame of mind. Leaning upon myself can and is hazardous, and yet I look for the way out. This is why I reached out through this forum. Everyone should be available to be accountable, yet I fear them labeling me a troublemaker, and they generally don't take the time to make themselves accountable to everyone--they can't, they are justifiably quite busy. But my issues go to what they are telling the flock. I am desiring a one on one opportunity for brotherly feedback to help me remove this conviction from me. The alternative is to stand alone, which we all know is not the Lord's command or will. Check my posting to Hank regarding Elijah. I also need to clear up the entire discussion of scriptural evidence about death. The more I pore over the Word, the deeper the questions. My only stumbling is why the pastors cannot address my issues and questions, and what happens to my weak faith and heart when I find myself wanting to sit them down and give them a lesson? That has all the signs of pointing to me as the problem, and so I cast my bread upon the waters to my fellow brothers in Christ to lend me their hand and hearts and walk me through this. Other alternatives are question them openly, as I ALMOST did one night at my church when the guest pastor made a comment. I was in my chair and just blurted out the words "No he didn't" and it was out loud enough for folks to look my direction. I quieted down very quickly and began to mind my own business, yet nevertheless, the scriptures speak for themselves, and I am surrounded daily with those who desire to preach what they like, as opposed to what is written. If I am blinded, then I wish my eyes opened. If I am wrong or misunderstanding, then I seek correction leading to my salvation, yet I cannot find a way to compromise, and I know that I can put this forth to fellow Sons of the Father to help me find my way. take one penney and double it. In thirty days you have something close to ten million. Use your calculator and prove it.

Hank- am new here and have questions that need to be put forward to fellow believers so that I don't trip up and stumble. Excellent point about our ancestors, but one must still wonder...as cain is banished he is concerned about other men going to kill him. We certainly don't have all the answers to all our questions, which places us back into our faith. David (mr.b)
8 | Elijah and Heaven | Gen 5:4 | mr.b | 119107
Hank, help me over a hump. I am close to losing faith in the ministers that I am so fond of. My faith must ultimately rest in God and his word, however I depend on my elders to teach and to look toward as an example. The word on the street, from christian mouths, is that the prophet Elijah was taken to heaven. Taken up into the sky in a whirlwind yes, but certainly not into Heaven. Jesus himself spoke that no man has ascended into Heaven...(which brings up another question entirely) but, to the point; later on in 2 chronicles Elijah is seen at work again. How can I have trust or faith in the teachers when I find myself alone. If I can read this account, then surely they can also. Yet I frequently hear from all the popular teachers that Elijah was taken to heaven. The word can be used liberaly. The high walls of jericho were said to be as high as heaven. Nobody would assume that it was meant literaly. The bottom line is that he is seen at work elsewhere, and Jesus himself said no man has ascended into heaven. It feels hard to back talk the popular teachers, and yet I need to worship and look to my elders. Place a good shoe where it needs(gently) and boost me past this mudhole I'm convinced that I'm stuck in
9 | Did the Lord talk to Abraham to his face | Ex 33:20 | mr.b | 119098
Jesus spoke that seeing him was seeing the father. The son revealed the father. Most scholars that I have spoken with feel that jesus was the one doing a lot of the work that we read about in the old testament. One test is whether or not a person was allowed to worship. Angels always prohibited an act of worship towards them, yet there are examples in scripture where someone falls down to worship and they are NOT stopped. Some believe that these examples are of jesus. There is much to read about this in scripture
10 | Did the Lord talk to Abraham to his face | Ex 33:20 | mr.b | 119100
Jesus spoke that no man has seen the Father, but that he was revealed in the Son. Many scholars think that Jesus was active in the old testament, especially when someone worshipped and was not prohibited from doing so.
11 | Blasphemy against Holy Spirit | Mark 3:30 | mr.b | 119061
easy breezy. This was mentioned while christ was ministering, and he was verbally attacked. Those who have that perspective will never come to salvation. Many good hearted soldiers of the word have placed there minds and hearts behind this question which causes so many brothers to stumble. God calls someone, and they refuse the call. I personally know just such a one. You cannot hope for salvation if you are fighting God's Spirit and running the other way. To ignore his will and go back to ones own way is to blaspheme his work. One cannot be saved if they have chosen to clamp shut their heart and run away |
