I don't mean to nitpick Kalos, but you can't say that the Holy Spirit always falls on entire groups who are not expecting any sign. Paul was alone when he received, hands were laid on him that he might recieve the Holy Ghost, he was born again, but had not yet received. God Bless |

2 | "The Law" and " The Prophets" | Bible general Archive 3 | miller0521 | 178435
The Law would include the books of Moses, the First five is where the Law is given. If you read through the rest of the Old Testament, you will find a prophet in all of them. So all of the Old Testament, minus the five, are the prophets, and actually the Mosaic books are prophetic as well. The entire Old Testament contains prophecy of Christ, right from the book of Genesis all the way through. |

Theresa, This is a good question, the best way to answer would be to say that there is no biblical way to say that tongues are no longer for today. It would be like saying knowledge is no longer for today, or wisdom is no longer for today. I am not sure about practices of the heathen, but let me assure you, if your Bible says something, it is 100 percent truth. We know tongues exist, because we see when they first appear, ( Acts 2:4). And again, there is no scripture that says they are not for today. God Bless |

5 | Why did this happen and what is purpose | Acts 19:5 | miller0521 | 178436
Starting at verse one in Acts Chapter 19 you see Paul coming into the area, and he finds these disciples. He asks them if they have recieved the Holy Ghost yet, the same thing he recieved when hands were laid on him. The same thing the 120 recieved on the Day of Pentecost ( Acts 2:4) and they said they haven't even heard of it. He then finds out that they were baptized unto John, and so then the discourse leads to them being baptized in the name of Jesus, then Paul lays hands on them, and they recieve the Holy Ghost and speak in other tongues. They were baptized unto Jesus, because previously they had only know of John teaching about the Messiah that was to come. God Bless |

I am not a sinner, I -was- a sinner, but I was saved by grace. I am not the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Also, does the word women mean all women, or does it mean wife? You can study the word for yourself, and find out that it could be used to mean just wives. In 1 Tim 3:11 its used to mean the wives of the decons. Anyways, if you feel God does not women to speak in the Churches, someone should have told Paul that so he would not have held company with women who spoke in the churches. There is neither Jew nor greek, there is neither male nor female, for we all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:28 Spiritually, we all have put on Christ, and there is no difference in the sexes. |
