You said "the Muslims will the Gentiles that will bring the Jews to the Lord" I wonder what "lord" the Muslims will bring the Jews to. The Lord Who said "This is My beloved Son." Mat. 3:17 and other places in the New Testament. Or, Allah who said "I have no son." |

That is great that you know one Muslim that is born again. To be born again he must acknowledge that Jesus died for his sins and rosea gain for his life. Both those things are denied by Muslims. Muslims believe that Jesus never died on the cross to save us; and they believe that he was never ressurected since they believe he was never crucified. I was replying to your quote that Peter Tsukahira said that 'the Muslims will be the Gentiles that will bring the Jews to the Lord'. So I just asked which 'LORD' did he mean. The Lord Jesus Christ? I do not under estimate the power of the Gospel on the heart and mind of Muslims. When they believe that Jesus died and rose again for their sins, they are Christians not Muslims who do not believe in the crucifiction and ressurection. |

4 | Luke 10:18 part b. I beheld satan as | Bible general Archive 2 | meusing | 135938
Hi, Although I am not Tim I would like to share what I understand to be the reason for that commandment. God Himself gave the reason for the commands in chapter 19 verses 4 to 6: 'You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to Myself. 'Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel." Remember they had just left Egypt. The "gods" of Egypt are well known: Ra, Anubis, Bast, etc. They were going to Cannan where the Cannanites had their own "gods". Remember God said, Ex 20:22,23 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven. 'You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.' So, when Aaron bowed to the wishes of the people, he made an image of a calf and said "This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt." Ex 32:4b he was in direct disobediance to the LORD. Look what happened after Balaam unwillingly blessed the children of Israel. Num 25:2 For they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. Num 25:3 So Israel joined themselves to Baal of Peor, and the LORD was angry against Israel. Or look what happened to Solomon: 1 Kin 11:4-10 For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods; and his heart was not wholly devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians and after Milcom the detestable idol of the Ammonites. Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not follow the LORD fully, as David his father had done. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the detestable idol of Moab, on the mountain which is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the detestable idol of the sons of Ammon. Thus also he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods. Now the LORD was angry with Solomon because his heart was turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not observe what the LORD had commanded. Another explanation of idolatry is Isaiah 44:9-20. |

5 | Jesus mentioned in the old testament | Bible general Archive 2 | meusing | 136291
In Genesis 3:15 God promise that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent. Gen 12:3 God promised that through Abram/Abraham all the peoples of the Earth would be blessed. At the place of sacrifice on Mount Moriah, Abraham said, "God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." Gen 22:14 Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, "In the mount of the LORD it will be provided." And Jesus is the Lamb of God. Jacob/Israel when he was blessing Judah said: Gen 49:10 "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples." see also Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 |

6 | Jews' word for Hell comesfrom whatvalley | Bible general Archive 2 | meusing | 151723
I think it is more important to understand what the people understood by the word. Both the schools of Shammai and Hillel understood and tought that the word was a representation of God's Eternal Punishment. The people Jesus taught would have understood he was talking about The place of punishment, not a valley. just my meusings. |

7 | Jews' word for Hell comesfrom whatvalley | Bible general Archive 2 | meusing | 151739
From Easton's Bible dictionary: Hinnom A deep, narrow ravine separating Mount Zion from the so-called “Hill of Evil Counsel.” It took its name from “some ancient hero, the son of Hinnom.” It is first mentioned in Jos_15:8. It had been the place where the idolatrous Jews burned their children alive to Moloch and Baal. A particular part of the valley was called Tophet, or the “fire-stove,” where the children were burned. After the Exile, in order to show their abhorrence of the locality, the Jews made this valley the receptacle of the offal of the city, for the destruction of which a fire was, as is supposed, kept constantly burning there. The Jews associated with this valley these two ideas, (1.) that of the sufferings of the victims that had there been sacrificed; and (2.) that of filth and corruption. It became thus to the popular mind a symbol of the abode of the wicked hereafter. It came to signify hell as the place of the wicked. “It might be shown by infinite examples that the Jews expressed hell, or the place of the damned, by this word. The word Gehenna [the Greek contraction of Hinnom] was never used in the time of Christ in any other sense than to denote the place of future punishment.” About this fact there can be no question. In this sense the word is used eleven times in our Lord's discourses (Mat_23:33; Luk_12:5; Mat_5:22, etc.). |

Well, some people like the American Episcapalian Bishop Spong who reads the the Bible to disproove it. His latest book is called "The Sins of the Bible" Reading, and studying the Bible has not led him to faith, but confirmed his unbelief. |

I did not mean to open a can of worms, this is the post I was replying to. I do not know what number it is. Kalos was replying and he said --- Note: You write: "merely reading, or even studying the Bible, will not necessarily result in Christian faith." But God says: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (KJV) --- by the word 'but' I thought he was refuting the previous statement with the verse. I just tried to show that some read and study the Bible and are not converted. |

I really would not have said anything if I had not thought that he was trying to refute the statement that "merely reading, or even studying the Bible, will not necessarily result in Christian faith." If he was agreeing with that statement then I was wrong to support it. I did not mean to attack him, just show that the statement was true. that is the only reason I said anything. |

13 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | meusing | 39386
Luke, and John show that Jesus, the Word of God became man. He was not the Holy Spirit. Nor is He the Father. Luke 9:12 says nothing about any incarnation. If you are refeing to verse 30, Moses and Elijah were men in their own right. Jesus is the Creator they were part of His creation. In respose to the other part of the question, His mother Mary was descended from David through the line of Nathan, so, so was He. So, Rom 1:3 is true He was born the seed of David according to the flesh. When Joseph (descended from the royal line) married Mary (descended from the leagal line) He gave to Jesus the royal title of descendant of David which He had leagally through His mother. |

Jesus did not say we would be judged and punished acording to our worth. John 5:22 Even the Father judges no one, for He has given all judgment (the last judgment and the whole business of judging) entirely into the hands of the Son, Note, not the Holy Spirit John 5:23 So that all men may give honor (reverence, homage) to the Son just as they give honor to the Father. [In fact] whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, Who has sent Him. John 5:24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life. John 3:18 He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.] |

What you just posted denies everything that Jesus said about the Holy Spirit and the Father. I thought that when we posted something here that we agreed that what we posted was biblicly based. He was NEVER called the Holy Spirit. He talked about the Holy Spirit as a separate person. Read John 14:16-20 He is not the Father because He taught us to pray to the Father, not Him. He told us to talk to the Father in His name. Jesus asked the Father to send the Holy Spirit. John 14:16 |

16 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | meusing | 39437
Heb 2:14 Since, therefore, [these His] children share in flesh and blood [in the physical nature of human beings], He [Himself] in a similar manner partook of the same [nature], that by [going through] death He might bring to nought and make of no effect him who had the power of death--that is, the devil-- 15 And also that He might deliver and completely set free all those who through the [haunting] fear of death were held in bondage throughout the whole course of their lives. 16 For, as we all know, He [Christ] did not take hold of angels [the fallen angels, to give them a helping and delivering hand], but He did take hold of [the fallen] descendants of Abraham [to reach out to them a helping and delivering hand]. [Isa. 41:8, 9.] 17 So it is evident that it was essential that He be made like His brethren in every respect, in order that He might become a merciful (sympathetic) and faithful High Priest in the things related to God, to make atonement and propitiation for the people's sins. 18 For because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He is able [immediately] to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are being tempted and tested and tried [and who therefore are being exposed to suffering]. Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. |

We all deserve punishment. That is why Jesus came. Is 53:4 Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. [Matt. 8:17.] 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God has been revealed independently and altogether apart from the Law, although actually it is attested by the Law and the Prophets, 22 Namely, the righteousness of God which comes by believing with personal trust and confident reliance on Jesus Christ (the Messiah). [And it is meant] for all who believe. For there is no distinction, 23 Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives. 24 [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, 25 Whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment. 26 It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time (in the now season) that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has [true] faith in Jesus. that is why Jesus could say : John 3:18 He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.] |

you say "Matthew 28:19 States clearly that christians are babtize in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit." you also said "Yes,And that is why he is called the Holy Spirit. He is also the Father," Matt 28.19 does not say that Jesus is the Father, not does it say that Jesus is the Holy Spirit. |
