2 | Isn't my Mother in Heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | mattiep | 24187
I want to know also. Ihave always believed there was a HEAVEN and I have encouraged my family to believe also. But I have an Aunt who is a Jehovah Witness and she told me that all Heaven talk is emotional drivel. she said when you die you just go in the ground until Jehovah comes back to get you. I was always taught that if you died in Christ that you are in HEAVEN. Now I'm a bit confused. I showed her all the Scriptures, especially in Matthew (like the Beatitudes) that talk about the Kingdom of GOD. She said that is only for the Elect Brothers. HELP!
3 | Isn't my Mother in Heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | mattiep | 24326
Thank you for your answer. It is very important for me to know scripture to encourage myself in what I KNOW is right. I am praying for her that GOD will pierce her heart as HE did mine and that she will know HIM for herself instead of just what the "Brothers" tell her.
4 | Isn't my Mother in Heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | mattiep | 24331
thank you for your response about my Aunt. I agree that I certainly am not equipt to go up against her in discussion of the Scriptures. I tried but her Scriptures seem to be "sculptured" to fit her points. Also, she refers to the Watch Tower and what the "Brothers" say more than her Bible, itself.
5 | Isn't my Mother in Heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | mattiep | 24822
Thank you for the reply and especially for the Scriptures. Ecc.12:7. It's Lovely. also, I stand on Philippians 1:6 I am "confident that HE has begun a good work in my Aunt. She must have been searching in order to have gotten in this in the first place. I still pray that she will come to know Jesus as her Savior. I don't flood her with disagreement but when she comments on my belief, I do tell her what I believe. I'm sure she's on her own path but I guess the thing that disturbs me is that she never says " I believe thus and thus." She always quotes Scripture according to Watch Tower articles on a given situation. And if I ask her anything that has not been addressed in the Watch Tower, she'll say that the "Brothers" didn't tell us thus and so. Of course she is 80 years old now and she's been in the Organization since she was in her 30's, I guess. She's a very intellegent woman, not senile but she is rather intolerant of other peoples beliefs.
6 | dealing with my illnesses | Bible general Archive 1 | mattiep | 24823
Psalm 23 is always a comfort. Also John 14. also Psalm 91. Psalm 103 is informative but most of all Prayer. My sister and brother are Chronically ill. At one point, my sister said that she didn't want to live anymore and that she didn't see a reason for her existance. I told her that everyday, she's fuctioning in her calling. I don't know much about anything but I know that every time she takes the ambulette to the doctor or hospital, she has a chance to share a Word. Everytime she's in the hospital, and I know she is in terrible pain, but the nurses say that it has been THEIR Blessing to have met her. so I told her that she touches peoples lives everywhere she goes. She is a Blessing and an Inspiration to everyone that meets her. That's it. The growth doesn't just have to be in you, it's for other's growth, also. May the LORD strengthen you more each day, physically, emotionally and Spiritually. May HE flood you with a extra annointing of the Holy Spirit, to Comfort you. May your Spirit soar on wings of Eagles, high above your situation and pain. GOD Bless. Mattie |

9 | need scripture on discerning motives.... | Ps 16:7 | mattiep | 22014
Myah, Since you are single, you will be approached. I wouldn't give you advice because this is a delicate subject. But I will share with you the experience of myself and other friends. We talked with an older woman in the Church that is known as a Spiritual Mother. She told us to: Matthew 6:33 " Seek first the Kingdom of GOD and all HIS righteousness and then all the things we were looking for would come to us. Then she told us Proverbs 18:22 that the man who findeth a good wife. Then she told us to Philippians 4:7-9, Whatsoever things are True, Honest, just, Lovely, Pure and of good report, Think on those things! We got so busy in our Pray life and Bible study, trying to find out what GOD's favorite things are and what would Please HIM the most and how to exercise that muscle of Faith to receive the fullness of GOD's annointing, the men and women saw and RESPECTED that Anointing! The men in the street added a "MAM" to that hello, and so far GOD has Blessed two of us with husbands. And I wasn't a "Spring chicken" when I got married, either. So wait on GOD. Put HIM first. Those men who are improper, ignore them to shame. Find you an older woman to Pray with and receive counsel, if no one is available to fit that bill, ask GOD to bring someone in your life with Wisdom and Compassion. Since this is also an issue of the flesh, I can't see you being counseled by a man. I hope the above Scriptures are a Blessing to you and also 2Corinthians Chapter4. Especially verses 7thru 9. You'd be surprise how our outward expression changes when our inward impression changes. May GOD continue to richly Bless you and Keep you in HIS care. |

10 | WHERE TO FIND ALL THE NAMES OF GOD | Ps 83:18 | mattiep | 75039
The Bible Encyclopedia. It will tell you where, in the Bible, the reference originated. For example: When Abraham took Issac up mount Moriah to sacrifice him and GOD provided the "ram in the bush," Abraham dedicated an altar to HONOR GOD. (Not a building, more like a stone)and named that spot: "Jehovah Jireh ( GOD Provides)" Moses dedicated and altar in Exodus 17:15, Jehovah Nissi (GOD my Banner) Jehovah Shammah (GOD my GOD is here) was erected by Ezekiel. ezekiel 48:35 Jehovah tsidkenue ( GOD my righteousness) Jeremiah 23:6 33:16 Jehovah Shalom GOD my Peace) Gideon in Judges 6:24. etc... |

11 | Touching justified by Proverbs 5:19 | Prov 5:19 | mattiep | 79144
Taken out of context. If you take the text out of the context, you can make it a pretext to anything you want to say. The WORD of GOD should not be manipulated. Proverbs 5 is not talking about a women's "breast". It is talking about WISDOM. It is speaking of being FAITHFUL, WISE, CONTENT, and GRATEFUL. It is talking about RELATIONSHIP and points out that there should only be relations with your spouse. The verse should not be CHEAPENED by reducing it to the mechanics of intercourse. Please forgive me if I have misinterpreted your question and /or statement. |

12 | Replace being religious for obedience? | Jer 7:21 | mattiep | 27640
Around my way, they call it "Playing Church". Almost every Sunday, the Mother of the church will say, " It's time out for playing church, children." Matthew chapter 23 is a whole chapter talking about the Pharasees "playing church." To obey is better than sacrifice. When people sacrifice with the motive of self-glorification, they've done it to bring attention to themselves and not to Glorify GOD. I guess it gives people a sense of importance. Although, if they realize who they are in Christ, they would know they are Royalty. Also, believe it or not, grown-ups suffer from "peer-pressure". King Saul in 1Samuel 15;22-23, did what associates wanted instead of what GOD said. What we can do to reverse this trend is to remember, if we ever knew, and to learn, if we never knew, that GOD is our Source. Anything that we do should be to the Glory of GOD. The Holy Spirit inspires us to Praise the Lord. Jesus said HE could do nothing, keep nobody, know the time or the hour, or anything else EXCEPT the FATHER empower Him. So if the Holy Spirit takes care of us for JESUS, and JESUS gives the Glory to the Father, who are "we" to want to get Glory by "being religious"? Only what we do for CHRIST will matter, count and most of all LAST. If we read the Word, teach the Word, share the Word, understand the Word (with illumination from the Holy Spirit), obedience will follow as we understand who we are in relation to who GOD is. Perspective can reverse this trend. May GOD contiue to richly Bless you. |

13 | Replace being religious for obedience? | Jer 7:21 | mattiep | 27712
The Mother of a church is the older wiser woman that every body respects. Usually she is old but sometimes she might be middle age but she is Wise and people respect her and consult her for advice, prayer etc. Sometimes she's the person who has been at the church the longest. It is a position that doesn't have to be appointed (although some ministers may say that so-and- so is the Mother of our church) A person usually "grows" into this position with time, Grace and Wisdom. You give her flowers on the special holidays like Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, etc. She has a certain section to sit in so she doesn't have to wait to be seated. (a lot of times, they are in wheelchairs or on canes and walkers due to arthritis). I guess it would be equated with the respect that was to be given to the widows and ophans in the Bible.

18 | How can I deal with this child in love? | Eph 4:1 | mattiep | 159604
Yes, I agree. And make sure you always let her know that you Love her. Even after or during discipline, make sure that she KNOWS that you Love her. Just as GOD hates sin but Loves the sinner, you hate her antics but make sure that she knows that you Love her. At one point in my son's life, (he's my nephew, I raised him) I was so hurt and angry by his actions, I would regret when it was time for him to come home because it would be pure STRIFE. One night I got down on my knees and I asked GOD to PLEASE, help me to see my child thru HIS (GOD's) eyes! I prayed that HE would show me how HE see's my child so I could continue to live with him and Love him as he so richly deserved to be loved. Well, when I went to sleep, I dreamed my son was 3 years old, and his little face was looking up at me and asking me "How much do ya love me?" I woke up with tears in my eyes. I went in that 16 year olds room and grabbed him and hugged him so hard, he didn't know what to think! And I told him, "I know things are difficult, i don't always understand how you feel but I'm gonna try. I know you are hurt by your past but now we are going to live in the present and go on to the future. I can't rewrite your past but I LOVE YOU and if we just try, one day at a time, to walk in a new relationship, with GOD's help, we may develope trust to go along with this LOVE that I have for you. GOD Loves you and so do I." Things didn't always go right but whatever happened, we learned to trust and love so that soon the trials and troubles in this life became the opposition instead of me and my son at each other's throats. My son, my husband and myself, in the LORD, became a team. It ain't easy, but I tell you it's possible. Nothing is too hard for GOD. Proverbs 10:12 says Hatred stirs up strife but Love covers all sins. My Prayers are with you and your family. Pray before you speak. Remember that once something is out of the mouth, you can't take it back. Even apologies can't erase the damage. Establish your standards. If you explain your principles and why you live by them, even if she doesn't agree, a picture is worth a thousand words. If she sees your beliefs are a constant in your life, she may emulate them, eventually and accept them as her own. |

19 | Hebrews 11:32 Who was sawed in two? | Hebrews | mattiep | 24829
I don't have any Biblical proof of this but I saw in a Catholic Book of the Saints, that Simon the Zealot (Apostle-Cananean) was sawn in half. It said that he and the Apostle Jude traveled together and were martyred by some Priests.
20 | Why aren't the demons saved? | James 2:19 | mattiep | 11999
Salvation is a gift that has to be accepted. We are given Free will. You can have knowledge of the Bible aand knowledge of the LORD and still not accept Salvation, unfortunately. Believing that GOD the Father and GOD the Son and GOD the Holy Spirit are one is essential for Salvation because GOD the Son(Jesus) would have to be man and God or GOD come in the form of man to Die for man and then be GOD to rise again, thereby paying the price, redeeming Man and living again, defeating Death and Satan.
