1 | Jesus' baptism; the Prophet to come | NT general Archive 1 | kingte1234 | 70579
What is baptism? Baptism is the washing with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. It signifies and seals our ingrafting into Christ and partaking of the benefits of the covenant of Grace and our engagement to be His. Quite simply, Jesus was baptized so he could enter into the Melchizedek priesthood so He could be the High Priest and offer Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. In Matthew 3:13-15 it says, "Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Jesus got baptized to fulfill all righteousness. Exodus 29:1-7, "This is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may serve me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect. And from fine wheat flour, without yeast, make bread, and cakes mixed with oil, and wafers spread with oil. Put them in a basket and present them in it -- along with the bull and the two rams. Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water. Take the garments and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breast piece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband. Put the turban on his head and attach the sacred diadem to the turban. Take the anointing oil and anoint him by pouring it on his head." Oil is a type of the Holy Spirit: "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth...As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit -- just as it has taught you, remain in him" (1 John 2:20,27 ). The Holy Spirit descended from heaven as a dove and rested upon Jesus (Matt. 3:16). Jesus was baptized because He had to fulfill the legal requirements for entering into the priesthood. He was priest after the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4; Heb. 5:8-10; 6:20). Priests offered sacrifice to God on behalf of the people. Jesus became a sacrifice for our sin (1 Pet. 2:21; 2 Cor. 5:21) in His role as priest. To be consecrated as a priest, He had to be: - washed with water (Lev. 8:6; Exodus 29:4, Matt. 3:16). - Anointed with oil (Lev. 8:12; Exodus 29:7; Matt. 3:16). Both of these were bestowed upon Jesus at His baptism. Additionally, He may have needed to be 30 years old - (Num. 4:3) Exodus 29:1 - "This is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may serve me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect." Exodus 29:4 - "Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water." Exodus 29:7 - "Take the anointing oil and anoint him by pouring it on his head." "Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7). |

there was a drunk man walking on the Ohio River bank one Sunday morning around noon. when he noticed a minister dunking people under water. so the drunk staggered out to where the minister was, and the minister turned to the drunk, and asked him if he wanted to find Jesus? the man said yes, so he dunked him in the water and raised him up. and asked did he find Jesus? the drunker said no, so he dunked him again, and then he asked him if he found the lord? again the drunker said no, so again the minister dunked him again, and keep him under for 30 seconds and brought him up and asked him again, did you find Jesus? the drunk was a little out of breath and he had a puzzled look on his face and was in fear he might be dunked again if he said no, but he said it any how. and then the minister looked puzzled, then the drunk, short of breath yelled out, are you sure this is where he fail in at !!!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing wrong with water baptism as long as you get baptized with the holy spirit too. one God one faith one baptism.
4 | hoyy spirit bap. evidence tounges? | Acts | kingte1234 | 70595
4 a beginning as the resumption or repetition of a previous act or thing a new day the new edition b made or become fresh awoke a new person new tongues, i believe once your saved you will speak in a new tongue. as stated in mark 16:17. new, meaning you take on a change in your life from the point that your saved, it is a whole new begging as in ezekiel 36:26 he will give you a new heart, a new spirit. all things from that point become new. 2 not the same different any other color would have been better something other than it seems to be to speak in other tongues, is exactly what it says other. as in acts 2:4 when it was used as a sign, not for the saved but for the unsaved. i do believe that it was and still a gift of the spirit, for the edifying of yourself and the church, i have never seen it as a sign yet, but i do believe if it were needed it would be done. I don't believe you have to speak in other tongues to be saved, but I do believe you will speak with a new tongue once you get saved. As when Peter and john spoke in acts chapter 4, when they heard them speak, they perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. There was a difference in how they spoke. |

Have you ever found yourself listing to others, rather then asking God to show you the answer? The gift of tongues is and will always be around, until he comes back, is there people that abuse that gift?............. there probably is, is there people that would fake it?................. There probably is, does every one have the gift of tongues?.................. probably not, can everyone that wants it get it?...............Paul said you can pray for all the gifts of the spirit, who's to say if you will or if you wont receive it. only you and God knows your heart, its time we start worrying about us instead of what sally is doing down at the old gospel church on main street. even Paul did not know for sure if he would make it to heaven, so how can we be so sure. He can bless you with all the gifts, but if yonot producing fruit you will be lost.
