4 | Drugs other than alcolhol in the Bible? | Ex 30:23 | jini | 67461
There is a reference in Exodus 30:23 and a question as to one of the ingredients of the anointing oil. The English is translated as Sweet Calamus, but it too is reported to have psychoactive properties. However there seems to be a controversy as to its real name. In Hebrew it is Q’ana bos. Which sounds a lot like Cannabis or marijuana. The Hebrew dictionary defines Q’ana bos as hemp. See Aryeh Kaplan’s translation of the Chumash called "The Living Torah." Other natural psychoactive herbs and plants include (and this is by no means an exhaustive list): Afrodite Ayahuasca herb Bee pollen Betelnut herb Calamus herb Cola nut Damiana Ephedra Focus Gingko biloba Ginseng Guarana Iboga root powder Kava kava Muira puama herb Noni powder Passion flower Sassafras Skullcap Super sense Trance Valerian Wild lettuce herb Wormwood herb Yogi tea Yohimbe Ephedra Morning Glory Opium Poppy Psychotria Viridis Giant Opium Poppy Hawaii Baby Woodrose Wild lettuce (lactuca virosa) Wild hemp (cannabis sativa) Valerian (valeriana officinalis) Peyote (lophophora williamsii) Syrian Rue (peganum harmala) Yopo (anadenanthera colubrina) Grey Peyote (lophophora diffusa) San Pedro (trichocereus pachanoi) Blue San Pedro (trichocereus peruvianus) Wormwood / Absinth (artemisia absinthium) love and peace, -jini |

7 | Guilty of sins committed in ignorance? | Lev 4:22 | jini | 63427
Emmaus- Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I was looking for Leviticus 5:17 and had missed 4:22. My followup question to this is: Do you think we, and our leaders, are accountable for sins that we commit in ignorance? For example, if we act upon a falsehood, not knowing it is a falsehood, are we guilty of an repercussions that may come as a result? love and peace, -jini |

13 | Gentle Words....... | Prov 15:1 | jini | 63169
The only thing I could add to that is that we need to make sure that Christ is the Lord of our politics as well. The legislation that we stand for should be scripturally valid. Our motives should be out of mercy and compassion, not to make our lives better or 'safer'. love and peace, -jini |

15 | Does God agree with people suing others? | Matt 5:40 | jini | 67426
We cause more harm than good when we use the law against others. Matthew 5:40 And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. I Corinthians 6:7,8 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers. love and peace, -jini |

16 | Do all little ones believe? | Matt 18:6 | jini | 66742
Greetings- I have always understood the passages referring to 'little ones' as having a broader focus than just children. To the Lord, we are all 'little ones'. Equally precious and he does not want to lose any of us. Handle each other with care...:*) love and peace, -jini |

17 | What happens to one who commits suicide? | Rom 8:28 | jini | 67707
Thank for this note. My little brother committed suicide eight years ago and this is a question I have wrestled with. How I finally resolved the question was to determine in my own mind my brother's meeting with Jesus and I can see him belonging to him. love and peace, -jini |

18 | Drugs other than alcolhol in the Bible? | 1 Cor 6:19 | jini | 67475
This verse refers to sexual immorality, to use it to apply to this question is to take the verse out of context. love and peace, -jini NIV I Corinthians 6:16-19 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; KJV I Corinthians 6:16-19 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? NASB I Corinthians 6:16-19 Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH." But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? |

19 | No one should have to steal a Bible | Eph 5:5 | jini | 67709
A challenging question - Why would anyone have to steal a Bible? The word says that people will stumble, but woe to the one who causes it. Do some feel so rejected by God's people that they must steal His word to learn it?
20 | No one should have to steal a Bible | Eph 5:5 | jini | 67750
My question went back to the original poster's comment about the Bible being the most shoplifted book and her concern over their sin. Thank you for replying though. love and peace, -jini |
