Can I ask you a few questions? What is the role of prophecy? Or what was God hoping to accomplish with prophecy? Is there room for differing views on prophecy? If so in what way? If not why not? What do we do when we disagree? |

4 | Jehovah Witness questions | Not Specified | gkidder | 194796
Two questions asked from a Jehovah Witness that keeps emailing me. 1.Remember Jesus taught the Bible - not religion. Jesus had nothing but contempt for religion and the religious leaders in his days on the Earth. Really then, Do you think anything has changed? 2.Do you remember what you learned regarding the word LORD, and the word Lord, as they appear in your Bible? At Psalm 110 in the first stanza, we read "The utterance of Jehovah (LORD) to my Lord is: Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet." Is Jehovah talking to himself? It doesn't seem likely does it. Is Jesus talking to himself? That too doesn't seem likely. Does it not seem that Jehovah is indeed talking to his son and our redeemer Jesus Christ? This is the logical conclusion. That being said, I wonder, how would the trinity fit in here? A "penny" for your thoughts, your Christian friend and neighbor, Ted |

5 | believing the entire bible | Not Specified | gkidder | 195590
This was as my pastor puts it our last go around. I would like as much input as i can. Allow me to push back on a couple of thoughts. You found several things disturbing in this latest go around... What if I came to the point in reading the gospels when Jesus said “love God love others” and I read no further but gave my life to doing just that...do you think God would care that I knew nothing about the rapture or the tribulation or revelation or and the list could go on. Why get so caught up in thinking that the rapture ought to be the litmus test for being a “good” Christian? A personal question...has your study of Scripture led you to being a more loving person? Was the prophecy that you know, given to motivate you or those around you who do not know it? What if God reveals prophecy to you so that you would recognize the times and do your part of loving others into the kingdom? Because if you are not careful the knowledge you have can lead to a judgmental attitude towards others who do not know the same things. I do not need to know the house is on fire to recognize someone trying to help me. What if from a Jewish perspective six literal days was not the point of Genesis one and two but rather to give God the credit for being the creator? Does it change anything? |

Heres the reast of it that he didn't like. Is the Christian church asleep? The rapture question...there are a lot of good Jesus believing Christ followers who do not believe in the rapture. So a T-Shirt with the rapture idea would be a non-issue. When you define prophecy like you do I would say yes, the church is asleep...and in a broader sense regarding prophecy yes the church is not as educated about the age to come as it could be. There are a lot of good Jesus believing Christ followers who do not believe in the rapture: I find this statement disturbing, just like I find it disturbing that there is Jesus believing Christ followers that choose not to believe in the six literal days of Creation, and a world wide flood. Why don’t they? I believe partially its dew to our secular humanistic society that embraces Darwinism’s theory and scientific thought that has spawned evolution. Taught in our school system in the last one hundred years. And partially I think it’s the lack of knowledge of our theologians and knowledge of scripture. Not to mention a broader base of learning among our Christian scientist. Which has change just in the last twenty years? But as far as not believing in the Rapture or second coming, or anything that pertains to Prophecy I find that more than disturbing, I find it sad and pathetic. Can a Jesus believing Christ follower still go to heaven if they choose not to believe in Old Testament stories? I would say they most certainly can. Can they still go to heaven if they choose not to believe in the Rapture, as some would say is a doctrinal position? I say it is simply a denial or an acceptance to believe in the entire word of God or not. A couple of weeks ago you had preached a wonderful message were you used an illustration were you were facing Jesus and He was holding you accountable for how you had lead your life. Was it in service for Him and others or was it for our selves. And tearing up pieces of the bible to illustrate a symbolic gesture of how much of his inspired word we chose to follow was meaningful and edifying to me. But I would like to go a step farther and make an illustration were we are standing in front of Jesus were pieces of the Word is lying at his feet and we are offering a segment of pages to Him and saying this is the amount of scripture I have chosen to believe, the scripture that is torn up at your feet is what I have decided is doctrinal positions I don’t believe in. And worse yet did not teach to others. God knows the hearts and minds and knows every detail about us. He detests 'lukewarm' Christians, and in Revelation 3:16, he threatens to "vomit" them out of his mouth. The answer is that only the Lord knows who is and is not --or who will be "Luke warm" in the sense that He will "spew" them out of His mouth. Obviously, He is talking about the lost, not the saved in this scriptural instance. That is a one on one between the individual and the Creator. We will have to let Him answer that one for us in His Omniscience. There is a Crown of Righteousness promised to all who "love the Lord's appearing". That's the Rapture, when He calls for us above the earth in the Rapture. Those who scoff at the Rapture, or just don't believe it will miss out on that Reward, and might suffer the loss of other Rewards. I personally don’t want to be in a position were I’m considered Luke warm, and if God still gives me a free pass to enter heaven I don’t want to miss out on the opportunity of collecting my rewards. And most importantly I don’t want to miss out on casting my rewards at his feet. That sounds better than casting unwanted pieces of doctrine at his feet. I almost made the mistake in asking God to take this passion from me. Because at times I feel it’s more of an obsession that a passion. But I suppose it is better to be obsessed with a God inspired passion like this than it would with something else that would destroy my relationship with my savior. Mathew 5:41 helps reminds me to go a little further than what’s expected. God bless, Tony |

7 | The Rapture, when will it be? | Bible general Archive 1 | gkidder | 185403
There are several reasons for this misunderstanding pertaining to the prphetic message. One is that many churches are infected with God-dishonoring and bible-unbelieving liberalism. They are also ignorant or adverse to the prophetic importance of Israel. Many pastors and ministries today have been sadly reduced to nothing more than glorified psychologists who try to make people feel good and meet their emotional needs instead of proclaiming the Word of God with power, conviction and passion. Unlike ten or twenty years ago, the teaching of Bible prophecy has fallen by the wayside because many church circles have deemed that it has little, if any, practical value for today. But Bible prophecy does have practical value. It builds our faith in the sovereignty of God, who holds the future in His hands. The return of Christ challenges us to live in holy expectation of His coming (John 3:1-3). Certainly, prophecy also is a tool of witnessing. The Bible is the only book that accurately forecasts the future and this can be shown by informed teachers and testifiers. The striking prophetic fulfillment of the Jews returning to the land of Israel in our century is one such faith-inspiring prophetic fulfillment. The generally bad condition of the world and the relationship between nations-the famine, pestilence, earthquakes, and so many other prophetic issues can cogently be understood through knowledge of Biblical prophecy. The unbeliever, and or ignorent Christian made familiar with what Scripture predicted for these times may be convicted by the very relevance of the Bible texts on prophecy. And then there is the support of Israel, which is a biblically based mandate for every Christian. All other nations were created by an act of men, but God Himself established the boundaries of the nation of Israel. God gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob a covenant of land that was eternally binding, and it’s recorded in the book of Genesis. God also told Abraham that He would make Abraham’s descendants into a great nation and through them He would bless all the families of the earth. aaaaaaaaany one intrested in wanting to open their minds and hart to Gods word should look at it in a litteal sence. And futher study on prophecy i would personally recomend several books on prophecy by Tim LayHaye and especially some book and DVD's by John Hagee ministries.I'm totally Frustrated but not surprised by how many Christians choose not to believe in biblical prophecy. You ether believe in the righen word of God or you don’t. The entire book of the bible, not just bits and pieces of it. I would like to know why we have a tendency to believe in the stories of the bible, such as Gods creation story, Adam and Eve, the flood, the tower of babble, the story of Moses, the story of Christ, birth teachings, death resurrection etc, etc, etc, but when it come to events that have not accrued but were prophesied to, we have a tendency to doubt or not to believe. We even start to start label Prophecy believers as dispensationalist. In Crist, by the way, he also Prophecied end times. Tony |

8 | RE: "immenint return" in first answer | Bible general Archive 1 | gkidder | 185404
Two second comeings or one? For example, Christ is now in heaven from which the angel promised he would come again to this earth. The first phase of his coming is "in the air" for believers;it will be a great blessing to all who participate in it. This is called by some Bible believing scholars as " the Rapture," based on the Greek word harpaso, which means"to snatch away". The same word is used in Acts 8:39 and describes how the Holy spirit "cought Philip away" after he baptized the Ethiopian. Paul as so used this word to describe his experience of being caught up to the third heaven.(2Cor. 12:2-4) 1thess. 4:13-18 is a complete desceiption of the Rapture. phase of Crist coming. immediately after the Rapture the judgment of cristians will take place. The second phase of the Lords second coming is the public appearance of Christ to the earth, when he is accompanied wth power and great glory as well as the angels of heaven. At that tim he will set up his earthly kingdom.rev.1:7 Overwelming number of references to the second coming in both the old and new testaments have to do with this phase of the Lords coming, only a few referances describe his coming for his church, or the Rapture. So you see there are not two comings of Christ, but rather, there are two phases of his one coming. First phase for Christians, and the second phase is for the world of unbelievers. |

11 | Mans appropriate relation to animals? | Prov 12:12 | gkidder | 187301
I wonder if possibly you have had a bad experience with an animal as to why you seem to be disturbed by some ones affection towards a pet. I will admit that French kissing a dog is going too far, even if it is a French poodle.ha, ha. But I for one love my dog and hope and pray that some day when its my time to die and enter Heaven that I will be met by all my loved ones and that’s including my dogs that God has entrusted me to care for over the years. If we can believe that He will give us the desires of our heart then i'm looking forward to eternity with Him and all the creatures of his creation. God bless Tony |

12 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | gkidder | 187495
You need to look in the book of Genesis to see why would even consider eating an animal in the first place. We eat meat and animals eat meat because of a direct response to sin. It’s because of Gods curse that we do these things, before the fall, all living things were vegetarians. And some day it will be that way again. .
13 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | gkidder | 187496
Therefore I would say that I personally don’t trust people who don’t have a love of animals. Because if you don’t have a love or respect for one of Gods lower creations how could you love one of your own kinds?
14 | Animals in the New Testament? | Prov 12:12 | gkidder | 187612
We seem to be obsessed with doing what God has commanded us to do. And the most important of these commandments is to love God with all your heart, mind, and spirit. And to love one another as well. I am not obsessed, but have the passion and desire to please God, period! I think God gave me a compassionate heart when it comes to the care of an animal. And the care of a child, and the care of an elderly person, and the care of a fellow Christian who is in need of counseling or friendship. I care for people who suffer physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I find it troubling to suggest that I’m not able to keep a balance of what I am passionate about. I also feel God has given me a talent to be a gardener but it’s not an obsession. Every thing is done to glorify God, and I pray that what ever I do it is to glorify his name. There are many forms of idol worship, and being puffed up, obstinate and opinionated is just as wrong as some one who puts the love of anything first before God. The whole point of this forum was to evaluate the relationship people have with their pets. I suggested looking at the book of Geneses to see what kind of relationship Adam had with the animals in the garden of Edom. And what was the commandment God had given him pertaining to the creators. Wasn’t he commanded to name all of them? What was the signifagents to God wanting Adam to name them? And weren’t they first created by God to be a companion to Adam? And how were they created by God? Could it be possible that God created them by breathing life into them just like he did with Adam? What was the reason for animals to be present when Jesus Christ was born? Why did God bother to mention that the lion will lay down with the lamb? Why is Christ going to ascend from heaven riding a white horse? Why were there animal sacrifices performed for the forgiveness of sins? Could it be because God considered animals as innocent? The point is simple, It’s better for an animal to be loved by a Christian that an unbeliever. And to use that love to some how glorify God by witnessing to others Gods love for all His creation. Especially ours. In Christ Jesus our lord and savoir and creator |

When we look at scriptures, such as Rev. 1:3 and 1:19 and 3:3 and Rev. 1:7 Rev.11:3, 7-10 Dan. 12:4 Rev.22:12 etc, etc, etc, these are all bible scriptures; all are the inspired word of God are they not? So why are they ignored in the church and by Christians. Why is it not being taught? I’m not asking any one to set a date; I just want prophecy to be used as a teaching tool just like any other book of the bible is used. Of course I’m referring to Revelation and Daniel and a multitude of other scriptures that refers to prophecy.
