1 | Evil Spirits from God? | 1 Sam 16:14 | chadr | 106250
I've searched and found many comments and questions about the Evil Spirit sent to Saul in 1 Sam 16:14. There of course are lots of responses, but none seem to address the questions that I have below: 1. As new testament Christians do we have to worry about our sin causing God to send an Evil Spirit to us? 2. In the cases in scripture where God sent an evil spirit, do you think that the receiver of the spirit was accountable to God for the additional sins that the spirit caused them to commit? Thanks, Chad |

2 | Not exactly. | 1 Sam 16:14 | chadr | 106255
No. In verse 18:10 it says: The next day an evil [2] spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the harp, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand 11 and he hurled it, saying to himself, "I'll pin David to the wall." But David eluded him twice. Seems to be a cause and effect here. Evil spirit came on Saul, Saul tries to kill David. Thanks, Chad |
